Edited by: RedSplat on 15/02/2009 14:14:32 We have a list of Corp thieves and Scammers here http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=603530&page=1, we have various other lists useful to victims and perpetrators alike.
To the best of my knowledge C&P doesn't have a list of Corps that honour Ransoms and those that don't; and i don't mind taking that on as a little project.
Why people choose to honour ransoms or not is not what i would like this thread to address, but rather whom does or does not.
Maybe next time you ask for a ransom you might actually get one, the victim might actually get to escape with an unviolenced boat- isn't it lovely when people play nice?
Or perhaps no-one cares for this. Thats fine, in which case let the thread die.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If your corp. honours ransoms, feel free to post and say so, along with any other information you wish to include. If your corp doesn't always bother asking for ransoms but might accept one sometimes and honour it, let the thread know.
If anyone sees a Corp up here that doesn't honour ransoms, post a rebuttal- along with proof
I will update OP and subsequent place holders as info comes in. If doubt is put upon a Corp details of the accusations and evidence will be included and readers can make up their own mind.
One point to make is that i wont be actively searching out whom will or will not honour ransoms of my own accord, avoiding bias you know --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following Corps aim to accept and honour Ransoms, under the terms they may or may not dictate:
Corp: Neo Spartans Alliance: None as current.
Originally by: Larkonis Trassler Neo Spartans will honour ransoms. Ransoms will be offered to T2 Cruisers/T1 BCs in most circumstances and usually pods older than 6 months. We may be open to ransoms from smaller vessels. If your vessel is of a small size or your pod is young you may be asked to tell us a joke or witty anecdote in exchange for your freedom. For larger vessels a song on our ventrillo server may be asked for in lieu of ISK.
The following Corps have either been claimed to have dishonoured agreed ransoms, or don't accept such at all; as appended below.
The following Corps MAY accept a ransom and honour it (they may not ask for one) within the terms of whatever agreement you make with them.
Corp: RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE Alliance: Black Legion.
Originally by: Misanth RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE honour ransoms, however - in 99% of the case we will decline ransom offers for ships, but same time, in most cases we will accept ransoms for pods.

The Oblivion Guard will not honour ransoms, I'm sorry to say. Some of the clowns I've recruited can't even spell their own names properly.
Personally, I'll probably honour a ransom depending on the level of intoxication.

End of the Line. Honours ransoms/1vs1's/agreements. Although we usually won't ransom. If Anyone has any of these agreements dishonoured should contact me with proof and they will be reimbursed.
The Lorenz Alliance <STORM> Butterfly Effect Corp, Hive Bound Technologies and Einherjar Alliance [-THOR] do not honour 1vs1's. Can provide fraps/screenshots/chatlogs on request.

I have setup an external (spamproof!) mailbox for evidence/proof, the address detailed in the bio of this character.
Alternatively, just EVE mail such to this character; although long chatlogs and Screenshots etc.. are a ***** to deal with like that.
All such correspondence is confidential. Just to add emphasis- i will not make public the addresses of those that contact me through that email adress
Likewise, if anyone wishes to remain an anonymous tipster in-game that's fine- although why you wouldnt just use an alt...

Edited by: General Coochie on 15/02/2009 23:28:10 You can add The Bastards to the list of corps that honor ransoms. If a member dishonors a ransom they will get kicked form corp. However ransoms are on our terms and when we offer it, while we try and offer ransoms often there are a lot of times when a ransom isn't practical for obvious reasons.

Your categories should be remade.

I dont know.. If I had an Anshar pilot offer me 5B (not 5M I'll give you that) to not kill him I'd think about it. I mean its obvious he has WAY more than that in cargo, but there's a chance none of it will drop, and that which does drop will be to big for me to hall away.. I'd have to ask the gang though.. And he'd have to have offered it with enough time for us to discuss the pros and cons while were shooting him, cos im not stopping for an Anshar to just jump out..

We would most definitely take that ransom. The categories are stupid. Either you honor ransoms or you do not. The victim has no say really, either he accepts the terms or he does not. There can still be a dialog but the victim never should get the last word. To be fair I don't think a single pirate corp operates as the blue category. Vigil and Caracal, Duo PvP

Correct, as far as hypotheticals go; for who is to say the ransomee will always put a figure out there that is less than a swashbuckling scallywag was going to ask. You have never pointed someone and had a terse '40 million' (or whatever figure) dropped into local or a convo without prompting?
Ransoms are negotiations, not directives someone MUST comply with- even if the other recourse is being popped, or self destructing or ctrl-Q, there are always other options as oposed to paying a ransom.
Quote: The following Corps aim to accept and honour Ransoms, under the terms they may or may not dictate:
tl;dr corps in this category offer ransoms, may accept ransom offers initiated by the victim either at face value or as a prelude to the negotiation of a ransom. Such actions are commonplace, or perhaps a matter of corp policy.
Quote: may or may not dictate
is the contentious part? Not all Pirates are a well run outfit with guidelines laid down for the terms of a ransom and the conduct of the aggressors following one; i.e. exactly how long the victim remains 'safe', if the ransom is void the moment they leave system etc...
Quote: The following Corps MAY accept a ransom and honour it (they may not ask for one) within the terms of whatever agreement you make with them.
tl;dr Corps that don't habitually ask for a ransom, but might be willing to take one if the victim makes known that he is willing to pay to excape unharmed.
I'll amend it as:
Quote: The following Corps MAY offer you a ransom, or MAY accept a ransom once informed you are willing to pay one and honour it within the agreed terms.
------------------------- Edit: Better? I don't want to define categorys of Pirates/Mercs/whatever in any more complexity- this isnt a legal document. What would you suggest?

I get what you mean. The difference between blue and yellow is that corps in the former usually ask for a ransom as a matter of course, the latter dont always bother and may need prompting by the victim.
I can easily merge the two, but the distinction is rather important for the Victim- and this thread is as much for those who find themselves at the mercy of pirates as it is something to stimulate the flow of ransomed filthy lucre into pirate coffers.
This the general view? I would rather not get bogged down in such things.

As I said we will ask for ransoms most of the times, when circumstances allow it. Naturally you cant ask for a ransom when gate guns fire you and you cant perma tank it, or you have a hostile gang warping in, or if the fight isn't a given win and we are loosing ships etc.

Are you just expecting someone to lie and say "I'll always offer a ransom," instead of saying "I'll offer a ransom when it's reasonable to offer a ransom," which is actually truthful?
Our primary goal in piracy is to get a ransom. Period. We fit the blue category. We aim to accept and honor ransoms. Sometimes our aims don't fully click with the reality of the situation we're in.
There's no maybe about it, if we're in a reasonable situation to accept, and the ransom isn't 20 million for a Caldari Navy Raven(which if we got, we'd return) we'll be accepting the ransom. ________________________________________ A merry life and a short one shall be my motto. Bartholomew Roberts
