Well im upgrading my computer with a new Video card... And that card is going to be the ATI X800 XT PE. It is going to cost me $500... (Not to bad considering the price of all my other hardware) But i dont know if the X800 XT will work with eve. Im realy hoping it does that would be gr8.
Well i just wanted to ask if anyone knew or heard anything about the X800 XT working or not working with eve? Thanks for any help!

My X800 Pro works just fine (although there was not much performance gain from my previous NV5600 -only for eve though... all the rest of the games gained considerably)
I suppose/hope the XT will work just fine
Luck US ppl...you get gfx cards 40% cheaper than in my country (Greece) although all the other stuff (cpus/memory etc) is similarly priced...
bah free market |

thanks for cheering up my day, its good to be an american.
The X800 pro works great, able to run to accounts on the same machine with all the ease of two machines. "I Live in my OWN LITTLE WORLD....but its okay, they know me HERE!"

I'd like that video card to play Doom3... And also a 5.1, also a good soundcard, also... erm
Galaga (Galaxian - XIF corp) And yes, Olyyy is on our KOS list so she enjoys stirring the "flames" ( 2004.05.25 ) |

X800 is not the optimal card for Doom 3, nvidia's 6800 Ultra is because of the shadow handling technologies. The X800 looses badly (20-30%) on all Doom 3 tests vs the nvidia counterpart. However, X800 is a more solid card for other games, and Doom 3 is only one benchmark.

Ya the Geforce is a nice card but it is a power hog... and runs quite a bit hotter than the X800 XT. Ive done alot of research on the both cards and the X800 XT is more of a card for me. Plus i cant wait till HL 2 hehe :)
heres a website comparing the 2

Ummm, no. With exception to Doom 3, X800 XT is a better choice atm. In most benchmarks, Nvidia outperformed ATI on low-res tests. However, on all low-res tests both cards go over 100 fps, and 60-100 is not noticable. ATI does have 10-30 fps advantage when played on max settings (1600x, full AA, full AF). I assume that that is what most people desire from a high-end card, not better benchies on lows. Therefore X800=win. But not in Doom because Doom's engine sucks

Here is what X-Bit labs summarized in their huge article:
First Person Shooters: The new graphics processors from NVIDIA and ATI suit ideally for running next-generation computer games. However, we should acknowledge that ATIÆs solutions often look preferable if complex shader-based special effects along with full-screen anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering are in use.
Well, itÆs too early to give any advice concerning such upcoming games as Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl û all is in the hands of the developers of the game. As we remember, NVIDIA has a nice reserve for the future in the form of support of vertex and pixel shaders version 3.0, but we are still to see if the industry makes any use of it.
Third-Person Shooters: The RADEON X800 XT surpassed both 16-pipeline solutions from NVIDIA, and the RADEON X800 Pro managed to keep very close to the GeForce GT. As for the past generation, the RADEON 9800 XT outruns the FX 5950 Ultra, nearly catching up with the GeForce 6800. The RADEON 9600 XT seems very poor û in spite of its architectural advantages, it loses to the GeForce FX 5700 Ultra.
And a conclusion: The NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra feels at its ease in low resolutions as well as when you donÆt enable anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing. Besides that, NVIDIAÆs new GPU outperforms its rival in older games and, however strange it seems in view of the defeat of the GeForce FX, in a number of pre-release versions of upcoming applications.
It is a paradox, but the GeForce 6800 Ultra doesnÆt have much need for overclocking. It doesnÆt require a frequency of over 400MHz in those games where it outruns its main rival at the nominal clock rates, but in those games where ATIÆs GPU is superior, the extra megahertz cannot help the GeForce 6800 Ultra.
It is possible that the GeForce 6800 graphics cards will get some speed boost through additional optimization of the driver and applications themselves, but you may not see it right after new games come out.
The support of Shader Model 3.0 is listed among the advantages of the GeForce 6800 Ultra. It means a slightly higher speed and new special effects. Today, support of Shader Model 3.0 is a light argument, giving just a small gain in Far Cry, but if this shader version becomes widely accepted throughout the industry, there will be ever more such games and Shader Model 3.0 will have more influence. If this scenario develops rapidly enough, the lack of support of this standard may become a serious disadvantage of the RADEON X800 XT/Pro in comparison to the GeForce 6800 Ultra.
The ATI RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition develops an excellent speed across the entire spectrum of gaming applications, but loses to the GeForce 6800 Ultra in a number of games. With enabled full-screen anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering this chip usually confirms its superiority. If you invest into a RADEON X800 XT, you can rest assured that the speed of games actively using DirectX 9 shaders will be stably high, irrespective of ATI programmersÆ efforts to optimize the drivers. Besides that, the RADEON X800 XT boasts such complementary advantages as small size, low noise level, only one power connector, and only one slot occupied û all in contrast to NVIDIAÆs flagship product.
Note also that the RADEON X800 XT doesnÆt require a super-high-quality power-supply unit like the competitor does, but if youÆre going to purchase this powerful graphics accelerator, keep it in mind that it should be accompanied with much RAM and a powerful central processor to realize its full potential û these things by themselves may call for a new and better and more powerful PSU.
The RADEON X800 XT has its own drawbacks, too. Its reference cooling system might be more efficient, and it doesnÆt support Shader Model 3.0. The latter thing may affect its performance in upcoming games that use this shader version.

Luck US ppl...you get gfx cards 40% cheaper than in my country (Greece) although all the other stuff (cpus/memory etc) is similarly priced...
theres a thing called web-shopping, and shipping a piece of hardware that expensive means the shipping is far less expensive then your 40% extra,
BTW, i heard a x800 XT PE makes most computers (see processor etc) be the slow end!
