Yup... But there is also customs(which if you're lucky, might be oversighted) and most importantly, no warranty coverage if something goes wrong
Thanx for the...advice though |

heres a website comparing the 2
http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/gffx/nv40-rx800-2-p1.html
HL2 isn't really that visually detailed and as such doesn't really need a 9th generation 3D card to run well, my 8th generation 5900 Ultra chews up HL2 and spits it out with fps to spare, even a 7th generation card like a ti4600 should handle it fine, just without the DX9 features. This is all based on my experience with the leaked alpha, which has non-finished code and as such the final game should run even better when it hits the shelves. __________________

Edited by: Fneb on 07/08/2004 23:31:38 While the ATI x800 may have a slight edge over the 6800 in performance, the price/performance ratio of the nVidia cards is quite compelling. You can get a lower end 6800 card for as little as $283 US.

just like me, out of date teh day you bought it :(,
the NVIDIA might be cheaper, but you need a monster 450 volt (!?) and 2 plugs !! --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. I forgot to ask her her phone number" - Nelix trist OMG im a pretzel!!! |

Yeah I was going to go for a FX53 chip and a X800 xt, but the config I choose was 1/2 the price
this way I can upgrade again sooner, without a divorce

To Maggie Thatcher: I just have to mention this... If you get 1meg ram, I feel sorry for you..
To Deadflip2: If you put 450volt into your computer it will go BOOM!! /Cocytus ============================================== Cocytus, the ninth circle of hell.

lol, I think he means 450W :p
You guys are making me seriously reconsider which gfx card to get. Was looking at the gainward 6800U, but I've been taking a closer look at the x800XT now.
Its finding somewhere in the UK with stock...

You don't need 450 "volts", NVIDIA just stated that because of the many noobs who buys or builds computers with cheap-ass PSUs with low amperage on the 12 volt rail.
Personally i've been running my 6800 GT at Ultra speeds for almost a month on a 300 watt PSU that I bought ages ago (To power a AMD K6-2 system, no less), and reviewers have tested them on even weaker PSUs.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

Im pretty sure the X800 XT isnt available in the UK for another couple of months yet. Pity, coz i was gonna buy me one of those, but in the end went for the X800 Pro.

Seems you guys are mining ark in RL too . I'm quite happy with my 9800NP and will consider buying better one when it drops below 200$. D3 engine is not that bad, but i hope HL2 will have a better one so ATI all teh way.
