Well im upgrading my computer with a new Video card... And that card is going to be the ATI X800 XT PE. It is going to cost me $500... (Not to bad considering the price of all my other hardware) But i dont know if the X800 XT will work with eve. Im realy hoping it does that would be gr8.
Well i just wanted to ask if anyone knew or heard anything about the X800 XT working or not working with eve?

My X800 Pro works just fine (although there was not much performance gain from my previous NV5600 -only for eve though... all the rest of the games gained considerably)
I suppose/hope the XT will work just fine 
Luck US ppl...you get gfx cards 40% cheaper than in my country (Greece) although all the other stuff (cpus/memory etc) is similarly priced...

X800 is not the optimal card for Doom 3, nvidia's 6800 Ultra is because of the shadow handling technologies. The X800 looses badly (20-30%) on all Doom 3 tests vs the nvidia counterpart. However, X800 is a more solid card for other games, and Doom 3 is only one benchmark.

Ya the Geforce is a nice card but it is a power hog... and runs quite a bit hotter than the X800 XT. Ive done alot of research on the both cards and the X800 XT is more of a card for me. Plus i cant wait till HL 2 hehe :)

Ummm, no. With exception to Doom 3, X800 XT is a better choice atm. In most benchmarks, Nvidia outperformed ATI on low-res tests. However, on all low-res tests both cards go over 100 fps, and 60-100 is not noticable. ATI does have 10-30 fps advantage when played on max settings (1600x, full AA, full AF). I assume that that is what most people desire from a high-end card, not better benchies on lows. Therefore X800=win. But not in Doom because Doom's engine sucks

theres a thing called web-shopping, and shipping a piece of hardware that expensive means the shipping is far less expensive then your 40% extra,
BTW, i heard a x800 XT PE makes most computers (see processor etc) be the slow end!

HL2 isn't really that visually detailed and as such doesn't really need a 9th generation 3D card to run well, my 8th generation 5900 Ultra chews up HL2 and spits it out with fps to spare, even a 7th generation card like a ti4600 should handle it fine, just without the DX9 features.
This is all based on my experience with the leaked alpha, which has non-finished code and as such the final game should run even better when it hits the shelves.

You guys are making me seriously reconsider which gfx card to get. Was looking at the gainward 6800U, but I've been taking a closer look at the x800XT now.
Its finding somewhere in the UK with stock...

Personally i've been running my 6800 GT at Ultra speeds for almost a month on a 300 watt PSU that I bought ages ago (To power a AMD K6-2 system, no less), and reviewers have tested them on even weaker PSUs.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

Im pretty sure the X800 XT isnt available in the UK for another couple of months yet. Pity, coz i was gonna buy me one of those, but in the end went for the X800 Pro.

Im pretty sure the X800 XT isnt available in the UK for another couple of months yet. Pity, coz i was gonna buy me one of those, but in the end went for the X800 Pro.

Seems you guys are mining ark in RL too. I'm quite happy with my 9800NP and will consider buying better one when it drops below 200$. D3 engine is not that bad, but i hope HL2 will have a better one so ATI all teh way.

im a nub when it comes to dualHD. is it possible to have a 250gb 7200rpm and a raptor working together? i would love to be able to run the sys on raptor, and run applications/store data on the storage one :\

Yeah, I asked this question in the other part of the forum and you can run SATA and IDE on the same rig.
