So, you can no longer scan cargo containers in space? They no longer show up in your scanner?
So, I guess farmers can have their ammo stocks, their cloaks, and do so without any risk?
Booooo....

i'll venture a guess and say you can probe them out.

No probing, the cans are completely invisible. If your not next to it that it shows on your overview, you simply cannot see it.

Hving cans on your scan when overview settings were unchecked *sucked*. It's a buff. Cans arn't probable anyway. Maybe they should be?

The real buff is that they are changing over to cruise, sure they'll rat slower but if they get jumped they are much harder for small /slow ships to kill now.
Still if you have hac resists working for you they may well be easier.
I've seen 3 haulers full of cruise missiles (300k missiles) and another farmer hauler filled with arby cruise and cruise missile skill books get intercepted heading out into venal.
It's not like it would be hard to track the contracts used to launder the isk and dispense the new weapons, ccp dont like farmers but they dont want to commit resources to get rid of them.

i see, mistaken guess then, i have never tried searching for cans like you speak off, hence the guess. Thank you for clearing that up.

Can farms are completely hidden now. You cannot scan them down and steal any unanchored cans or the contents from the non-passworded cans.
Farmers give good officer loot and ammo in their cans. Hell, we scan the cans then blow them up.
1. It keeps space clean 2. We are doing a community service by (barely) keeping farmers in some areas in check... 3. CCP loves its stealth nerfs, and in this case a stealth boost to their #1 customer, the third world isk farmers.

As far as i know, you could never probe down cans anyways. Whats the point of seeing them on scanner if you could never probe them anyways

I used to find cans on the directional scanner and scan them down when I was out exploring (which is about all I do these days) just because I was curious if there was anything in them or they were secured. I've found some goodies from time to time.
Can't do that if they don't show on the directional scanner, though. I just wish you could probe them out, be a lot faster.

Maybe I am missing something here but what good would it do to be able to scan them if you can't probe them down? I for one am thankful they aren't on scanner, although I hadn't noticed that yet.

You don't have to use probes to find something if you can see it on the directional scanner.

ISK farmers are the only people not complaining about patches or nerfs.
They are CCP's best customers. Of course they deserve some buff.

*cough* Really ? So, explain why ships can show up in the directional scanner, yet you still can't warp to them without probing first.

Edited by: Siege on 12/12/2007 03:38:53 Akita. It involves a good deal of warping and bookmarks, but if you put in the effort you can locate and get to anything that shows up on the scanner. Just a matter of knowing with direction to warp, and dropping bookmarks in the right places to warp to. Keep narrowing it down via triangulation until you get on the same grid. Used to do it once in a while before the probes were improved.
The new interface does make it a bit harder though, I do with they would bring back the graphical representation of the sweep range.

And spend hours trying to get there ? Meh, yeah, I guess it can work, but I wouldn't ever actually bother doing it... you'd also need a system with enough objects around to make intermediary bookmarks (or enough bookmarks spaced-out properly), a quick hand and loads of patience. Heck, might as well just get "close enough" and manually fly the rest with a very fast ship.
Out of curiosity, how many hours used to take you to locate something like that in a system you previously had no BMs in ? 1|2|3|4|5. |

You were able to punch F12 and get the old minimap back. It was far easier without the broken map we have now. I cannot see them ever fixing the map that if you use more than 2-3 times you have to relog to fix.

What do you think we used to do before probes came out? People used to leave ships sitting in space at "safespots" and we would hunt them down using the directional scanner, bookmarks and warp drive and finally an mwd frig when we got close enough. Those were good days.

I have personally made billions scanning out can farms, ships, etc.
I just blow up isk farmer cans that I cannot take. Now they have ammo stocks that cannot be found unless you happen to probe them at the location.
They never stay there.... So, this is a major boost to keeping farmers in 0.0 The only reason they leave is to get ammo, or haul loot they collect.
I will try to find one but I have a scan of a can screenshotted that had no less than 20 different chelm's and brokaras(sp?) officer modules in it down in stain.
I blew up at least 30 billion isk in modules that day. This can was at a safespot that took me at least 2 hours to narrow and mwd to in a crow.
The isk farmer was ganked the next day because he was so upset about the loss that he was speaking in english translated from another language in local and not paying attention to the fact that he failed to cloak and we were probing him out.
The location he was found and ganked at had a second can that contained probably another 30 or 40 true sansha modules.
It was by far the most damage that I had ever inflicted to an isk farmer operation.
The raven that was ganked was fully faction fitted fitted with an armor tank and a full set of chelm's cap rechargers in the mids.
I wanted to be sick, and still want to be sick. This does not deter me from scanning farmer cans in vale and venal and destroying stuff like dread guristas control tower bpcs, and other dread loot.
The farmers no longer keep stuff in the cans for extended periods like they used to, I am sure that a deterrant was my escapade in stain where at least 40 billion isk was lost in a 3 hour period.
Now they only store the days catch in these cans. The only time we have now to catch them transporting it is just before/at downtime - raiding the cans is no longer an option.

Stop trolling. The cans are there I had many bookmarked. Our first assumption was that the cans were removed either by the farmers or CCP.
Upon warping into a safe with cans that had been previously bookmarked, and seeing that the cans were still there we realised that the system scanner had been changed to disallow scanning of secured cargo containers.
At least half of your cans are in safespots/belts, the rest are around gates from popped industrials.
Isk farmers are the primary users of cans in safespots in 0.0 So, they get a boost that farmer hunters can no longer loot/destroy their cans.
I figured it was a matter of time, I am sure they complained that their cans were being popped because I alone was destroying at least 50-100 a week, and I know other farmer hunters were popping at least that many, if not more.
I have to say I love the stealth buffs to farmers. It's like the smartbomb attack on mackinaws in the ice fields. We used to roll in there with a raven with 8 smarties and take down 5-8 mackinaws in one shot and we were really putting a dent on the farmers in the ice fields problem then along came the stealth buff to isk farmers.
This is just yet another stealth buff to farmers. Buff the amarr race, they have been begging for years for it.

The fun part about this whole tirade is that almost certainly the people that post complains about you destroying the cans/mackinaw ecc. are regular players that you were attacking, as sweatshops isk faming for sale will never petition for risk of exposure.
So essentially you lost your toy because you were not discerning, treating anyone you see mining ice or any can you see as it blonged to macro or sweatshops.
