You don't mention missioning which can be really lucrative L3 and up. I make close to 1 mil for just the mission payout + bonus and the bounty is sometimes just as high. If you go back and salvage you can also make about 1 mil out of the loot/sal...

I'm personally training up to use a Rokh eventually. It should work fine as a sniper long range artillery boat in big fleet battles so I don't see an issue with Caldari. For missions I don't see the problem with skilling up to Drake with heavies ...
