Yeah I have the same problem. "Session change in progress... bla bla bla" every time I try to dock, and usually multiple times when trying to undock. Really don't think it has anything to do with hardware. I really never had this problem pre-cast...

you're character pic should be rendered within a few days. I've heard it should be done in like 12-24 hours, but experience tells me that in a few days you'll have a shiny new character pic to replace the exclamation mark.
