Pulse + Scorch + Zealot = sex. yeah, you'll do more damage with multifreq, but nothing beats hitting any target within a 33km radius circle for max damage.

if you go the command ship route, that also opens up HACs. The Zealot is getting a massive boost in the next patch, and the absolution is incredible. The Sacriledge is pretty damned powerful as well, so you can max med guns and support skills, fly...

The crusader is sweet with dual light beams, I found that even orbiting at 5km/s at a 20km orbit I get good hits on targets. It's fast enough to make sure nothing escapes, though the capacitor does run out eventually.
