381. Performance and stability between Linux launcher and Wine 2.0-rc2 - in Linux [original thread]
I haven't "tested" it beyond just playing the game, so I can't give you many numbers. I'm currently running wine staging 2.0 rc3, used to be 1.9.20. As far as the launcher is concerned, there is not much of a difference between the windows- and t...

382. Complete new in EVE and understand almost nothing ... - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
You can do the missions together to a degree. If you fleet up with your buddy, you can warp to each other and help with the mission, however, if you both take the same mission you still have to run it twice.

Nope, same thing with the Windows launcher. It's still running on DX9.

385. wineHQ 2.0.1RC staging - in Linux [original thread]
I have the same picture here, but this may be a "feature" of the Snorlauncher. I'll try to get it running the old way using just wine and the Windows launcher later. I don't think it will work yet, though. DX11 support really doesn't work yet, I t...

387. wineHQ 2.0.1RC staging - in Linux [original thread]
We'll have to see - DX11 support is far from done at this point. That is something the wine devs have to fix, and I can't imagine CCP having many resources to spend for wine development. I may be mistaken, though. Snorlax would probably know how m...

390. The Next Fleet Role - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
The classic "tanking" role is quite silly in most games. It relies on mechanics that entice the opponent to attack you. However, no matter how good a "taunt" may be, a player would not do that unless forced to, and artificially forcing players to ...

If you can't even imagine what this new fleet role would be, then I would say you don't need it. Kind of a "if it ain't broke..." type situation.

392. Eve Offline - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
The server code is not available to the public, at least officially, and the client don't has an offline mode. So, no. Why would you want to do this anyway? Eve without other players is not very engaging.

393. running PYFA - in Linux [original thread]
For linux, pyfa works best. However, getting all the python modules together can be a bit fiddly. I would try and find a repository or at least a .deb package for it, as that would probably pull in any dependencies automatically. If you can't find...

Well, no Vulkan, no DX 12, no tessellation, no ambient occlusion, 1k textures only... Eves graphics aren't exactly bleeding edge. But do they need to be? It's much older than any of these, adding stuff to an ancient game like that is not exactly ...

Warp speed is a huge factor nowadays. Not only is the difference quite significant, but caps and supers when moved are nowadays often forced to travel a couple of jumps by gate in order to not accumulate a lot of jump fatigue. And the faster they ...
