the suggestion from a corpmate of mine was that 26000 might be blocked because it would be considered a bittorrent port. The other port (3724) is WOWs port, so it would definitely not be blocked

http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=405 This tells you how to change the port, if someone blocked 26000 at your school. Unforunately, I don't seem to have the files that are required for it, so no luck here.
