1. Decouple Client Interface from Network - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Edited by: Solbright on 11/09/2007 00:23:07 Oveur's new blog on Rev 3 and Trinity 2 doesn't indicate any attempt to solve stutter. Feeling a little depressed ... well, there is not much actually said beyond new features so I guess I shouldn...

2. Status Update : Mac and Linux Closed Beta - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: Elseer Radak I currently can't use EVE on Linux as Cedega is limited to using one account at a time, since I pay for two full accounts, I can't use them when using Linux. Huh? You can install as many games as you like in ...

3. Status Update : Mac and Linux Closed Beta - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: Vedm Oh, may I get myself into the beta testers' roster instead of you then? Please? The first email was to gather details to choose who would be in the first beta roster. Possibly not all those that replied even made it ...

5. EVE on Dual/Quad Cores - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: Solbright Though, just to repeat, I'm of the opinion that stuttering is centered around the simulator rather than the renderer. Ok, back that up a little. The 2D portrait rendering sucks. And that's a perfect example of t...

6. EVE on Dual/Quad Cores - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
While waiting for the database recovery to take place I checked out the homepage and found the top news item, More on EVE's Stackless Python upgrade at TTH , of interest. The interview . And at the last question: Quote: Ten Ton Hammer:. F...

7. EVE on Dual/Quad Cores - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Heavier on the RAM speed than the CPU speed. As for threading, Eve is threaded to the extreme. However, I'll speculate a little here, it also assumes cooperative multitasking and as such can't be split across processors.

8. Performance comparison between integ video chips. - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: Illwill Bill Comments: Video performance is good enough, but the drivers emulated vertex shaders take most of the juice out of the CPU, creating lags once or twice a second. Call it stutter. Lag doesn't affect framerate.

10. Linux client, where art thou!? - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: UberL0rd I was just making the point that IF they make a native linux client and release this binary then they COULD do the same for other architectures and OS's - like i386 FreeBSD, Sparc64 NetBSD, etc. You are asking CC...

11. Linux client, where art thou!? - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Just to be clear. Converting to source level compatibility means that the development is no longer native to any particular OS. And there is still no porting involved. Then what happens is, cross-platform APIs get used. Oh, gee another layer is b...

12. Linux client, where art thou!? - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: UberL0rd Linux requires x86, x86_64, alpha, mips, sparc, powerpc, superh, m68k, s390 - and a few others I've no doubt missed. You've just required a non-native method! Only the finished binaries are the native code.

14. Linux client, where art thou!? - in EVE Technology Lab [original thread]
Originally by: UberL0rd If it's native then it stands a reasonable change of running on non x86 based hardware ... Good try but no. Source level compatibility is all about removing native requirements, not enforcing them.

Edited by: Solbright on 14/07/2007 11:10:37 Originally by: Frug I think it's fairly obvious that nothing's decoupled and that the market lag is due to the whole client waiting for an update. There is no one cause. Lag exists. And st...
