Also for a brand new Alpha--if you just complete the mission arcs for 7 career agents (of the 15 you have access to), your Empire standing will be over 1.0, and then you can use *any* L2 agent for that empire. But yeah, just train Connections.

Amarr/Gallente Alphas can use Light, Medium, and Repair drones moderately well, but only get Turret skills. Caldari/Minmatar Alphas can use Light drones poorly, but get both Missile & Turret skills.
