Most graphics elements are client side, loaded from your own installation and displayed where the other player is positioned. As long as they do it that way they can stick as much eye candy on this baby as they want to.

It seems very odd to blame this on the internet when my alt (on the same PC, using the same connection) does not get disconnected, and when I switch installations/users over, it still isn't disconnected - when my main char is.

I assume details on players, player drones and server side objects like planets, stations drone NPC's are only sent to the player when he/she is within a system, when you jump to the next, you are not still sent any data packets from the previous?...

IMHO the more skill points you have, the more it should cost to buy this time. Otherwise the richer get richer and the poorer are left so far behind that you create a void between the levels of gamers that can't be breached.
