You don't get the 'Asteroid is depleted' message if you are mining that asteroid with drones alone. As soon as you use a laser the message works fine.

At least the battleship's bonus should count if you mount smaller weapons. If I take the time to train battleship lvl 5 I want to see some improvement on my dmg and rof. And not just for the large guns ...
