Over here in the Netherlands we would call this a 'losse flodder'. Luckily I stumbled over this otherwise i would've been really mad.

Edited by: Solana Dal''Annae on 02/03/2009 14:35:15 Sadly we are reaching the point where feedback on the client is meaningless in terms of fixes for the 10th of March date since it's a week left now, and we haven't even had a chance to start the client. There are only so many bugs that can be reported, analyzed and fixed a week before the deployment of a major patch where they are no doubt hampered with a humongous workload anyway.
I suppose it will still be useful in expediting the series of patches that will come in the weeks of the patch's wake however.
I encourage people to set up failsafe solutions in case CCP/Transgaming missed testing your particular hardware setup or we have other "unforeseen" issues. Pick a lengthy skill for training, especially if you have no alternative way of playing. (Bootcamp other computers etc)
Don't expect to be part of the initial wormhole exploration and you won't be disappointed when you aren't, and pleasantly surprised if you luck out. :/

Most of the bugs will be cross platform, when they get fixed on the Microsoft side they should be fixed on the Apple side. After reading the Game Development Forum, and seeing how much still isn't done, I wonder if the M10 date is feasible.
I do hope that there are not to many Transgaming issues, that will prevent eve from running.. then again I could be dreaming,

It took several months to have the classic client become somewhat playable when it came out. And it was an official release on the live server. When they upgraded Cider after last summer, it again took several months and multiple rollbacks. And it still was running the classic client. We shall conclude that a new Cider itself requires several months of refinement to work even if the game engine does not change.
For the premium engine it took them over one year to have an installable BETA. Ant it NEVER went live on TQ.
Now they are goin to deploy a completelly dfferent engine that uses the premium graphics but can run both in SM3 and SM2 mode. That is we'll have a new Cider AND an engine that is new and more complex than the one they failed to support for over one year.
I too hope there won't be too many issues. But frankly, we both are incurable optimists.

Personally, I'd rather have a buggy client, one that could start and two change skills, rather than no client at all. I'm expecting bugs, it happens with every expansion, no reason to see why this one wouldn't, especially one of this size. So like the poster above me said, break out those level V skills, its gonna be a hell of a bumpy ride for us mac users. PS I also concur with another poster in saying update the sisi patch site so that it reflects the lack of a update for mac users.

It would be a big suck for us, and a bigger one for CCP. They have already trumpeted the Mac support.
Not only that: the boxed game will say it supports Macs. So they really risk legal action from anyone buying the boxed version: in most countries physical items sold in shops are covered by much stronger laws than online subscriptions, including false public advertising. Also you can change online subscription specifications easily, but it takes months to change a boxed item specs.
It will cost them much less to delay the deployment or even to totally close down the server for multiple days, than to recall Mac support now.
Unfortunatelly there are few laws concerning bugged clients of an online subscription based service. In other words, they need to deliver it, but it need not be 100% working.

Trust me, you don't want the client they tried to push out Saturday. It basically hangs my Mac Pro. It's not even good enough for skill changing at the moment.

The Linux users still have WINE. As I understand it there are still some issues (mainly with ATI cards) but it at least runs, which is better than what we Mac users get out of Crossover or the dilapidated versions of WINE we get. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

thanks Casqade, much better :)
but too bad someone pushed the emergency bandwidth throttle button ;)
at first it looked very impressive: HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 2,334,083,313 (2.2G) [text/plain] 0% [] 13,999,336 4.95M/s 16:18:16 (4.94 MB/s) - Connection closed at byte 13999336. Retrying.
but as long as it works i'm happy with the ~620KB/s i have now.
let's wait and see...

Awesommeeee!
It works! Sound is a bit choppy and there are some bugs with quitting/windowing and resizing, but generally it is going really well. 57 fps in space. (iMac 20" 2.66GHz intel core2 duo 2GB ram, ATI radeon HD2600 256MB graphics). The trinity graphics are great, (I wish the space background and moons had been facelifted too), roids are awesome.
T3 ships are going to take a while to get to grips with, but some configurations of the proteus are amazing.
BTW: When we bug report, do we use the system profiler xml export file instead of a dxdiag file????
