Aside from CN BCS, what would be the other good value and well worth CN faction items to put on a CNR? For example, the Shield Amplifier hardly does any more boost than the T2 version so seems a waste. Pull my finger. |

I got a CN boost amp and a CN XL on my mission ship, and CN Launcher as I will not bother training cruise to level 5 (they are imo only worth using in missions). And of courese the CN BSC.
Makes a nice albiet expencive mission ship. Hardeners are T2, since CN do not give any better %.

I upgraded from the CNR to the Golem, however I use pretty much the same setup.
Only CN stuff I used were the BCUs. I do however use some other cheap faction mods. I run the Dual Small Pithi-B type setup.
There just isn't much need for CN gear for my fit...it works perfectly lol.

BCU's are indeed one of the most sensible investments for CNR when going faction. Next thing in list should be hardwires ofc (altho they are not exactly faction ofc) and if you run cruise missiles then CN launchers will offer also ~3 % advantage over T2 (as T2 precision and fury kinda suck in missions in cruise missile class).
Other than that it might sense to go for CN booster also perhaps altho it's not needed, just some additional peak damage soaking for tight situations. Anything else would make sense only if you need some additional CPU savings - for that the rat specific hardeners are often cheap enough to go faction.

Dont bother with CN hardeners, buy dread guristas... they're 10-15mil cheaper on average ------------

The CN launchers will have a faster RoF over the T2 launchers no matter what. It will be 0.5 to 1 seconds faster so for tossing regular and faction missiles the CN Cruise will always be better.
Personally I recommend getting the Dread faction shield hardners over the CN ones, yes the cost more, but they are worth the extra in the long run.
As far as the tank goes, if you are fitting a Navy XL, do not fit for perma run, it is overkill! Feather your booster so you can fit more damage mods. I'd say go with a 4-5 fitting shield and a Heavy Cap Booster in the mids for when you do need to run the booster for longer then you would like. At some point when you have the skills you may want to look int the Faction Large booster setup.
You will want at least 2 IMO. I use a different tank setup personally and run with 3 BCU's and a rank of Navy launchers all the time. 7.2 RoF is very nice.

How do T2 launchers firing t2 missiles compare to the faction launchers with faction missiles?

Edited by: Witching Hour on 20/02/2009 07:16:27 Here's my CNR outfit
This is strictly for missions or ratting.
Lows: --------- CN BCS CN BCS CN BCS if using Cruise Missiles or a Co-Processor II if using torps Cap Flux II Cap Flux II
Mids: --------- Gist A-Type X-Large Booster Pith A-Type Shield Boost Amp Pith A-Type Shield Boost Amp (although I did have CN boost amps until I recently bought these) CN Invuln Field CN Invuln Field CN rat specific field (usually EM as I typically am ratting or doing missions involving sansha)
Highs: -------- 1 drone link aug 7x CN cruise or siege launchers.
Rigs are CCC's
With drones and implants, its about 900 dps with cruise missiles and about 1200 dps with torps. It also tanks about 1200 dps as well.
Now, it's not quite perfect as I would like to find some better officer mods to replace a few CN mods, but for now it is a nice ship.

Are those dps numbers from EFT? What implants are you using? What ammo?
Since with similar setups I get only 400-500dps with cruise missiles and 700-800dps with torps. Am I missing something vital...

You will get 8% more Damage with T2 Launchers+Fury, but you need Rigors and a TP to get the damage on the Target and the Spec-Skill on lvl5.

No love for pwnage?
I wouldn't mission without one...
For reference, my mids - PWNAGE, CN XL Booster, CN Boost Amp, 3x T2 Hardners (2 major and 1 minor rat specific)

Yepp, I think many PPL haven't realized yet that flying without TPs and Rigors mean that they cannot bring their EFT-DPS on the Target(only ~40% on Cruisers, ~60% on Battlecruisers and ~80-90% on faster BSs).

Yah, that's the problem. I still typically kill most BS's in level 4's with about 3 volley's. Depending on how fast they are moving. I don't even bother with the frigs and cruiser class ships. I just deploy drones and go read the web for about 10 minutes while they are clean the house.

That question was from Kaivos and not from me
