The orca can haul ships into empire that can be jettisoned and flown by -10 gankwads. The gankwads are then able to jump a hulk b4 the navy can pop them. Keep your eyes open for a bunch of red flashies in local. CCP has apparently accepted this loophole around their sec status at the gates. CCP will, however, wish you luck on replacing the 100 million you lose. Because they care.

sad to say this but they have known about that exploit since they released the orca and have not been arsed to fix it. they aparently think the extra hit to sec status is enough to keep it in check

it's is not an exploit, they have always been able to do this - though the orca makes it a bit easier

I would hardly call this an exploit - you've been able to do it by having a ship in the station for ages. Sounds like someone got burnt when they thought they were safe - welcome to Eve where the complacent get blown up and you're never safe.

I'm confused. What exactly happened here? What is the OP complaining about? What advantage do -10 gankwads have in popping a hulk that +10 peeps don't? --------

I think his point is that they found a way around some of the difficulties they should be facing as -10 in empire space. In other words, Eve isn't as harsh, cold and unforgiving as it should be, for them. Cake and eat it too, and so on and so forth.

Before, the -10 security pirates would have to travel into hi-sec, getting shot by gate guards and such to get there. Probably they'd have to travel in a pod, set up an instant undock bookmark at a station, and acquire a ship there before heading out to gank someone. The ships would need to be provided by an accomplice who wasn't KOS in the empires. Now, they can just bring the ships from low-sec in the maintenance bay of an Orca, bypassing all the guards, and just get dropped off in the system they want.
Personally, I don't mind, as long as the act of picking them back up spreads the aggression rights to the Orca pilot (meaning he's a legit target of players or gets Concorded as appropriate). ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Old news is old. And it is not an exploit, it is a game mechanic. Hi-sec space is safer space, not safe space.

Seeing a whole bunch of red flashy pilots in local should be warning enough. They need to scan you down, get to the Orca, get into a ship and come get you........surely that's enough time to recall your drones while aligning and GTFO?
Unless you don't watch local because you're in high-sec, which is a common mistake. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Less time to react than that. 1st, they scout the belt with non-flashy. Orca drops ship at BM. Gankers pod into system and hop in ships. Still enough time to react, but it's still a way around the security system CCP has in place. Miner loses 100 million, ganker loses 5 million. Only reason it's not called an exploit is the CCP is sooooo slow at dealing with it. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

There's some time at least - if someone's been through your belt recently, then it's worthwhile checking local a little more vigilantly. I'm not really suggesting you don't distribute information, I'm offering additional strategies that require no more than some lateral thinking and piloting skills.

a bunch of -10 get in their cheap T1 frigs and mass attack a hulk. They pop the hulk before the Navy can get to them. They, of course, lose the T1 frigs to the Navy, but then they get to yell hulkamania! in local. haha. I can't explain the reason other than they think they are upsetting someone. I guess they are looking for reactions in local so they can copy them to their Bios?

eve is a harsh cold and unforgiving environment if your a carebear.... but if your a pirate you can just bypass the whole harsh parts fly to the orca and go from there.
seriously this kinda screws the whole risk/reward of suicide ganking that massive sec status penalty isn't a penalty it's a badge of honor to most empire pirates out there.

The main disadvantage for suiciding people in high sec is a security penalty that supposedly keeps you from doing it over and over. But if you are already at -10 there is no penalty at all.
Similar tactics have always been possible but they were tedious since you had to have an alt who could pilot your suicide ship with all the modules on it, otherwise they'd offline. Now he can launch a fitted ship from an Orca and does not have to have any fighting skills - any industrial alt can be skilled up in a week or two. But we all know no pirate ever had an industrial alt…
What also seems to make this easier is that now faction navy comes after you if you are in a system too high for your sec rating instead of CONCORD. CONCORD used to warp scramble you or drain your cap so much you were unable to warp, faction navy doesn't.

Dude. I still don't understand your point. And not for lack of trying. You want the Orca nerfed so -10's can't suicide you in hi-sec? What about -2's? Or +3's? Is it cool if they yell "hulkomania" in local? Empire police is not a suicide ganker's biggest worry. Concord is. So why all the worry that -10's are getting past empire police forces? Seriously, if you can't tank your hulk well enough to survive an attempted suicide gank a bunch of -10's in frigs before they all get concordokkened, then you deserve your fate. -------- [ |

This reasoning makes no sense. -10 is its own penalty. Just because it can't get any worse doesn't mean that -10's all of a sudden get some sort of a free ride once they get to that status. Clearly these people are not worried about penalties, otherwise they wouldn't be at -10. It's not like -2's or -3's can't suicide gank you over and over again. They can. Their penalty is that they will one time be -10. Do you think they will care if you keep giving them more penalties? Like maybe make it go down to -12 or -13? And have the billboards insult them as they are being shot at? I can't believe you guys are seriously making an issue out of this. -------- [ |

It's not much of a penalty, ridiculously easy to get around.
Originally by: VJ Maverick Clearly these people are not worried about penalties,
like has been said they aren't worried because it doesn't do anything, and is therefore broken in some way.
For reference I've never once been suicide ganked, and if someone did I'd shrug it off find what I did wrong and move on. I just like pirates to have to work for their meal not have it served to them on a silver platter of noobs.

Nah. Hulkamania is... well... not so much lame, as just a bit passe, really. Not awesome, just banal.
It's not really PvP - it's PvCCP, where the real opponent is the game mechanical change to prevent ganking - and we've known for some time that can be finessed. It's a familiar move now, and familiarity breeds contempt.

-10's are supposed to be attacked when they jump thru a gate or when they undock. Now they can fly past the defenses in their pods. They can get in ships that have been hauled to a BM. The -10 standing is no longer as effective as it used to be. It's funny how CCP nerfed the roqual so it couldn't defend itself with hauled fighting ships, but the orca (mining command ship) can now be used to hunt miners. Since CCP isn't that interested in the indy side of the game, information on the gank scenarios is about all the defense indy pilots have. Hence this post. I seriously don't know how that confuses you. It's information on tactics used to pop hulks in the industry forum.

You probably don't fly a hulk or have never been swarmed if you think you will tank it for the required time it takes for Concord to show up in a 0.5 system. It's the system navy that hunts them with negative sec status now, not Concord. Concord comes after they open up on you.
