Hello there :)
I'm modeling a Kestrel, since it's a very interesting ship and reminds me a lot of SW Designs. I started by a cutaway of the ****pit. It's still work-in-progress.

Except in this case, there are no pilot controls in that part of the ship.

I hate to inform you but what we consider to be the kestrel's cocpit is a bridge big enough for about 4-5 helmsmen and the pod, the dragonfly fighter has an actual pilot station however. the kestrel is larger than a 747 =============

Where did you get those numbers? Anyway, you're right, but don't ruin all the funz.

Look closely at the concept drawing. You see 4 chairs.

Edited by: Luciela Darkfall on 26/02/2009 08:15:41 Thank you for your input :)
About the scale:
All I can say is that I scaled the Kestrel exactly to the official specifications and positioned a properly scaled human model to give me a reference of what I'm doing.
Also I'm modeling the Kestrel as a non pod-pilot ship. If you read the description you'll see that it was used as a cargo ship a lot. So my vision is to model a very rusty, "first-generation" version of the ship, whose purpose would be very similar to the Millenium Falcon (a cargo ship with strong defense systems), since they're very similar in size.
I'm not worried about doing something 100% canonical or faithful because it's not official or anything. Although I believe my idea is pretty close to what the ship would originally be in EVE-Universe before pod-pilots, it's just that, an idea :)
Gotcha?

Edited by: Hieronymus Alexandre on 26/02/2009 08:20:38 I loved those old SW cutaway books!

It looks like there is room for 4-5 helmsman in that drawing, and wouldn't it be them or the pod, since they are functionally equivalent? So it looks about the right size to me... Besides, I think standard (non-pod) model cutaways would be cooler anyway (though both would be better, ofc ).
Edit: I take too long to post...

Make the version with a pod instead?

Very nice, but I have to wonder about your design for the engine. Seems a little incongruous for Caldari tech to mean chunky and square on the outside, and all rounded and steampunk inside.
Still, it's your artistic creation - do whatever you like! I approve of what you've done thus far. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

That looks cool. But i'm sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no ****pit in eve ships, thats if your are flying as a pod pilot. if anything, that area may be the pod room. ---

Instead of a ****pit, which is censored by the forum fairies, can we use the term ****pit instead?
