I think that the way to change your ammo with the new patch is really bad, takes me atleast 3 times longer to change it now than before. I dont se why they changed it there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. So i would be wery happy if it would get changed back to the way it was before and i think many players agree with me. And sice it us who pay the ccp employes we should have the right to say what we think is wrong with the game, thats what im doing now.
Dont care if this post get locked it would only prove that ccp is not listening to thier players the way they should.

What we talked about on irc... that submenu where the other types of ammo is (or crystals)...
If this was meant to tidy up big menu's.. CCP, could you please make it an option that can be turned on or off? This is really tedious on a laser setup, not to mention bad for RSI :) -------

I like new reload menu. Its good that it wont bring up menu on half size of screen, when you have few different types of ammo, everytime when you go to reload. Me thinks its good like it is now

this makes you wonder, why ccp decides to work on and fix something that wasn't broken, thereby taking time away from fixing the things that are broken.
CCP, get your acts together and FOCUS on fixing the problems, not changing other things to create more problems.

First of all BUMP. I'd like to see someone from the Dev team actually post on this thread because I feel its important. This new submenu is already causing problems with reloading to a new ammo. If some of you are getting large windows with a bunch of ammo on your screen, all you have to do is stack everything in your cargo hold and it fixes it real fast. I think it should be changed back to its orginal state because it's caused me more time trying to steady the mouse in the new menu without losing the first menu I had to open. I really think that this is one of the things they NEEDED NOT change and its already annoyed me on several occasions today. I'd like to see more people view they're opinions on this matter. I know its really a pitly change in regards to anything important but its curved precious time needed when you are in a battle with 25 other people depending on how fast you can reload and change ammo if you need to. Hats off to CCP again for yet making the time to finish off your enemies even longer than before. ------------------------------

I agree - even if previously reloading a weapon gave a selection window taking up half your screen space because you have dozens of ammo types in cargo :-) It is still faster.
The golden rule of UI design: keep it simple. Cheers,

This new SubMenu is _NOT_ helpful. It looks ok, but in a combat it's distracting. Please, remove as soon as possible.
Hard enough to get to a Menu in a lag situation, getting to a submenu (with this fontsize) is even more _bad_. (And getting to a 3rd menu, and a 4th even more).
Please, rethink this bad change.

Edited by: Andrue on 11/08/2004 10:22:23 That menu has never been very clever for crystals and is just another example of why CCP need a UI expert to review the command interface. When using crystals the menu lists all the crystals available for that gun.
What is stupid is that it fails to filter out:
- Duplicate entries
- Crystal types that are already installed
If you are changing crystals in battle then the ones you uninstall don't get restacked (which is also annoying but I guess they treat crystals the same as ammo). Unfortunately that means you get each crystal type listed up to seven times on the menu. Obviously that's pointless. All that is needed is one entry on the menu for each available crystal and don't bother offering the crystal that is currently installed. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Edited by: akim on 11/08/2004 12:15:46 Yup, very annoying indeed for changing crystals in the heat (and lag) of battle.
I have a better suggestion though. You can keep the menu. BUT plz plz plz make an "Reload All" and "Change All" option. This options has been needed since day 1.
"Change all" Should work like... You go to "change all" it pops out a new menu with all the ammo/crystal types and you select what you want. Just like you do now. But it should effect ALL guns of the same type as the one you clicked.

I'm sorry but i don't agree, it may suit some people that use just the one type of ammo when fighting (ie blasterthron setups with anti-matter ammo). But i personally use lasers, and i HAVE to take at least two types of crystal, long range - radios or infrareds, short range - multifreqs or ultraviolets.
and i need to be able to change over all my lasers quickly before my target approaches and passes THROUGH my optimal range !
This new menu has completly fudged this up for me, and with the latest drone nerfings, i can't even use them to take care of the target once it gets too close to hit.
Someone please sort something :( --------------------------------------------

As a laser user, I also hate this new menu, takes me double the amount of clicks now to reload ammo. Whats even worse is that with it's tiny font size it's hard to click the right crystal on 1600x1200. I'd always fancied for a "fit ammo to ALL guns of the same type" kind of thingie, but with the current menu thingie I really want it :) It does tidy up when your flying an indy loaded with ammo I must admit, but it's a big nuisance for people that actually use their guns to fire at stuff ___________________________________________________

ok to sum up: New Ammo menu
pretty but not practical
why are ccp wasting time on coding such usless things when they should be trying to fix REAL problems, I feel they are just wasting time.
I will be happy if they do take the time to delete the new code for this menu though.

Sub menues might be good and usefull in stations, but not when flying, and especially not when fighting, it takes longer time, and when mose slips(which it does often), it takes even loger, and that can be crusial, when in a fight..
Change it bach, to the way it was before, worked much better, and yes why change something which workes fine, when there is otherthings, which need more Attension.
/Be save out there.

The only thing i can think for their reason for doing this is a development in shiva that will make use of it, if this is the case, what is it, coz i sure as hell can't figure it out. also why couldn't this just be implemented just before, or even with shiva. --------------------------------------------

Duh! Yeah I know that - well done for completely missing the whole point of my post.
I also use different radio crystals during a prolonged battle. I'm sure all beam users do. My point was that at the end of a lengthy battle when I go to switch out the last multi-freq and put my UVs back in the menu shows (or used to, I haven't tried it since the patch):
Multi-frequency [1] Multi-frequency [1] Multi-frequency [1] Multi-frequency [1] Multi-frequency [1] Multi-frequency [1] Ultra-violet [1] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ] X-Ray [1 ]
When all it needs to show is:
Ultraviolet [1] X-Ray [1]
There's no point listing multi-freq at all since that's what's already fitted and why list six or seven of the other two? One UV crystal is as good as any other.
