I didn't list this one cause it's still in progress.
Weird that I played EQ for so long considering how much it filled me with rage sometimes. It wasn't until I started playing an Enchanter that the game really opened up for me. And then when I maxed that out and started playing a Bard, I saw that there was actually some genius in the game.

I had some friends that LOVED neocron, but it seemed to unbalanced to me. Good idea though, and I love SciFi, it just never "stuck" with me.

Project Entropia - a couple of days, no cash spent Anarchy Online - half a trial or so Guild Wars - a week or so on somebody else's account (he quit playing long before he borrowed it to me) World of Warcraft - cancelled the trial download (so, actually 0 online time even if I had an account) because I didn't really feel like it even if the other guys I know playing said to give it a try and play with them a bit ...plus some open betas in several others I didn't even bother remembering what they were called ...and countless free web-based thingies, very few of which I still play ...oh, and watched other people I know play several others mentioned by people above, but never felt like trying them out afterwards for myself
EVE-Online : 7 or 8 trials, activated the last one (this one) a looong time ago and kept it active most of the time It's the ONLY MMO I ever actually paid money to play (and also paid for a short while with ISK, heh). And it doesn't look like there will be any other I'll pay any money for any time soon.

Well, in following order...:
Earth and Beyond - under a month of beta :( Ragnarok Online - 5 years (having friends together kept me playing that long ) Stopped playing RO 2 years ago after playing Eve-o fulltime. :)
Following two is between RO and Eve-O Guild Wars - 2 weeks RF-Online - 2 weeks Lineage II - less than 1 day (horrible lol) FlyFF - few days Silkroad - 1 week.
World of Warcraft - about one year. Subscription ending this March since I don't play much on it anymore. Eve-Online - almost 3 years and counting. <3 (wish I played eve a year earlier when I notice the game, biggest regret)

Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 26/02/2009 19:21:40 WoW - I had an account for 1.5-2 years. In my last run, after a 4 month inactive streak, I finally took my main up to lvl 42 and got bored with the game.
On my account I had, Botter Fitron my Lv 42 Troll Rouge, 3-4 lvl 20's, and a 30+. So I was not productive enough for my friends that played. I also tended to like helping noobs in the barrens. That place needed much help, so not to sap xp, I would run up new toons, periodically to help out the poor poor Barrens
EVE - 1.5 years with a very inactive last 6 months.
IC: Sorry, MM, UK, and all my brothers and sisters

Edited by: Elysarian on 26/02/2009 19:29:43 Some MUD or other (can't remember the name, played on a 14400 modem): 1 Week - got killed by a pig and emo-rage-quit before Emo was invented! Runescape: 7 years on/off (still log into my char there occasionally & still have members) Bounty Bay Online: about a month, then rediscovered Eve-O Lineage 2: About a day Eve-O: 3 years on/off (this is my second char as I couldn't remember the login for the old one & don't have access to whatever email addy I set him up on - been playing around a year constant this time around) Racewar Kingdoms: Played the original version from it opening til it became RWK2 and pay-to-progress (We were supposed to be playing it to create a community in readiness for a "proper" MMO called Dawn that turned out to be vapourware). Shimlar: 7 years (from alpha til closure, was a moderator there too) Elysarian Kingdoms: kinda "cheating" here, I created it so never actually played but it ran in alpha and beta stages for around 3 years.
The last 3 were/are Web-based text-only click-to-fight games with chat interfaces. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

lol I remember Dawn, or rather, what Dawn was supposed to be.
Still haven't got an MMO where you can put fetuses in catapults, guess Dawn was just ahead of its time.

I've played a ****load of the free browser based games when I was younger and they used to have thousands of players. TDZK, starkingdoms, vagabonds quest and coldfire studio's War were probebly my favorites. Most of those still exist. The progression of high speed internet pretty much killed them funwise, especially TDZK. Now its possible to move in TDZK before its even physically possible to kill someone. _______________
