If you wanna see if you are criminal flagged. Launch a drone. Its also criminal flagged and you can see that.
otherwise a time would be boring. Not everything is calculateable. There is bearing enough...

Yeah, we normally have enough people around anyway so we can just check each other etc but this current timer method doesnt do anything apart from bore us :/ thats why it would be nice to come up with an alternative which is still fun for us whilst still being fair to the carebears

The criminal flagging system, as it works now, makes it difficult for other players to attack the criminal.
Because what does the flagged player do while waiting out the timer? A lot sit in safespots. Can't exact revenge if you can't find the guy.
If the flagged player was given more mobility in the form of reduced time that sentries will fire at him, it will give other players more chance to attack him during the flagged period.
I think lowering the time sentries respond and upping the time players can respond to a criminal flag would be a good idea. --------------

I have had a few corp members that have lost ships to FSJ, and we are primarily a industrial corp, not a PvP group. Yeah, it sucks when someone losses a ship, but it was .4 system, so.....to be expected at times. If you dont like people to shoot at you or anything else, stay the hell in .8 or above. I personaly have NEVER engaged in PvP, but I do agree that the 15 min thing is stupid. I like the ideas that they came up with, it gives more time, and fun for retaliation.

Since were are off the subject I'll add this....
I just can not understand what the big deal is with some people about getting blown up. If you are not in an intercepter than your insurance covers your ship. You loose some modules, the cost of a clone, and any implants you may have. This is not a secret and is known to most players even the day old ones. So why oh why, when they venture into .4 and below do people get sooooo upset about getting killed.
Just for the record I've been in systems with FSJ hunting before and also lost a Caracal to them in a most embarrasing noob style way. There was a little light hearted banter in local but there was no smack talk or abusive language. The same is true of all the pirates that have targetted me in low sec space and 0.0.
Abuse is something I've only ever got from 'miners' and 'carebears' in .5+ systems when I dared to shoot a rat in 'thier' belt whilst they were mining.
I wonder where all this pent up anger is coming from?

This game doesn't revolve around the pkers, or the miners, or the builder, or the agent runners, or even you or me. It's here for everyone. It's designed so that everyone can choose a path that suits their style of play. There is no right or wrong way to play the game, and that's why I, and a lot of other people are still playing it and having fun.
EDIT: I like the original poster's idea, btw.

Is it snowing in the Bahama's or something???
First I agree with FSJ (you pirate scum )
Now BH is agreeing with me
Back to the original discusion, I still agree that the 15 min timer is lame, do the 1 Hour (or more? ) thing, but let em get out of the system after 5 min. Hmmmmm is there a way to let the gate turrets de activate, while letting station turrets stay on? Maybe just the stations that the victim has good standings with or something. I dunno
EDIT: Wow, I just realized that I was called a Pker !!! Wooot I are teh elite . Yeah, like in the other post I didnt actualy say that I had never yet been involved in PvP yet.

I disagree. The 15 minutes might end up with the pirate sitting at a safe spot, but it also allows people to set up gate camps waiting for them to try and leave. This can lock them down even longer.
Not only that, if you have a 5 minute timer of gate guns, thats 10 minutes faster that a PK can leave for another system, and go to another belt where people haven't heard the screams in local yet, and gank someone else.
If anything, the whole thing needs to be raised to 30 minutes. gate guns and all.

One thing that would effect my stance on this is knowing how many 'victims' have used the 15 minutes to manage to set up gate camps and call in corp mates to attack the pirate. Come to that how many use it to travel the nearby systems warning others of pirates.
I suspect, but cannot prove, that in most cases nothing is done in those 15 minutes and it is therefore simply used to 'keep the pirate in one place'.
I still favour a longer reprisal time for those wanting to exact revenge but to force the pirate into sitting in a safe spot or logging for 15minues (or longer) will not help.
