Apocrypha is soon upon us, heralded as ze biggest expansion evarr!1
Cranks, cynics and pessimists will obviously interpret this as "longest downtime evarr!1" and set a long training skill to last through the eons (subjectively felt or otherwise) of time before it all becomes playable again.
So what skill will you set to train on M9?
Personally, since I'm looking forward to patching to a completely untested Mac client, which at the last (and only) attempt for SiSi deployment had (and still has) a broken updater, I'm going to be brave: Anchoring V - 12ish days… with a bit of luck, I should only lose a week of training time or so.

I was considering not interrupting my skill plan and letting a skill run that will end at 4:36 EVE time on the 11th. Is that too risy?  Worst patch I remember was Rev II deployment, but even that was up by the afternoon.

Frankly I'm training all the social skills I had left in my training plan. Once M10 hits, I'll be re-allocating all those empathy/int/mem attributes to perception/willpower for earlier pew-pew.

I will be starting Cal industrial 5 on the 6th(gonna get me a Crane for those critical transport jobs), will take almost 18 days, that means CCP has about 2 weeks to fix what they will undoubtedly break. I know, I know, I am being a little optimistic but I figure the chances of another boot.ini or Easter Weekend 06 are slim enough to warrant a little optimism.
Actually, now that I think of it more, I might want to swap to Min BS 5 the night before instead, think 35 days will be enough....

I see pilots here with multiple accounts, and training different types of skills on each, and I think, oh wow man, how can I ever compete with that? I just don't know what to think. There are so many things I would ask if you were here. As it is, I just pick up a little here and a little there. Like "what made you decide to pay for extra accounts?" and "Do you actually have to pay money for them or do you do that other thing, plex?". Lots of dumb questions I suppose, but things it would be nice to know so that I could understand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not super gung-ho, I'm just enjoying the challenges of the game. Most of all I guess, I enjoy playing it my way. I'll probably start training Focus to level 5 a few hours before downtime.

Im in the "lucky" position that I can train A lot of my skills on patch days. Most likely I will continue training the skills I am currently going for: The mechanical skills, like Explosion Armour compensation, EMP, Thermic compensation etc. They take me a week each

i bet most people have now changed their skillplans to train up all the skills with their max sp/hr on current attributes to desired levels.
i have a really high memory so i'm finishing off my drone, industry, and corp mgt skills before switching attributes to perc/wp.
if you're new to eve, don't forget to not only start training a long skill before patchday, but also continue training long skills for a few weeks afterwards, in case of emergency extended downtimes after the patch.

alt2: minnie drone spec V (24 days leftm including lvl IV)
So I think I should be reasonably safe on patch day and the week after it. If the skills queue works by then, I can finally stop worrying about losing skill training.

Currently finishing thermic armor compensation 5, then on to EM armor compensation 5 and the latter should tide me through the patch. My new alt (yes, I finally got one after almost 5 years) will be training industry 5 through patch day.

shouldn't need to swap skills prior to patch day - I'm already working on a pair of level Vs for my main and alt, which aren't due to finish until the 14th.
Specifically, I'm training Connections V on my main, and Warfare Link Specialist V on my alt.

Though i am in the lucky position to have all those long time skills coming up now - no need to make special preparations for patch day.
Also don't waste your time to tell how "i am doing it wrong". I know my stuff and megathron and pest are exactly the next ships i want to be able to fly(well my alts respectively).

Main: Primary-Medium Hybrids 5, 6.5 days left. Augmented by Gallente starship 4 and ME 4 (both @ 3.66 days), hacking 2 (just finished as I type this), Gallente Encryption 1 (36 min) and lastly Empthy 3 (3h 10m) which will bring me to a 3-12 finish time. Secondary-large hybrids 5 just to be safe.
Alt: ME 5 which finishes on the 24nd so plenty of time there.

Cloaking to lv4 then all the electronic skills to 3, only reason for this is because I have the most in Intel and memory, why waste time training skills that require my weaker attributes now? after all we can change them soon anyway, may as well make the most now of your strongest ATTs people.

seems the norm in this game is to have 3 chars - anyways anything that has around 20+ hours will do for me :) finsihing off learning lvl V but it will run 6 hours short of start of downtime so wil lstop it and ut something else on that will last longer then 6 hours.
