Why should we tolerate this incompetence? When we r late with subscription payments they are never late with blocking our accounts.

you seem to miss the fact that the extension to todays DT, is due to having to deploy another patch to correct what they messed up on Tuesday.

The issue here is that "real" programmers, those who know that they're doing test once test twice test 3 times etc etc before they hand over the final finished product for release.

Who does not test a product before deployment? Only a mickey mouse setup would do such a thing. I don't think CCP is a software version of comedy central but for the love of god CCP you really need to hire a team for QUALITY CONTROL.

For those who have never worked in IT --

CCP recent error rate is pretty good especially for "we wrote it ourselves and manage the servers too".


However, static data error plus time frame sounds like recompiling either client or server software. (DB patch should be faster unless they have issues optimizing and defragging for speed).

So they are changing code recompiling and doing the quickest and dirtest testing possibly. Extended time...failed the first quick test unless re-coding is harder than they thought.

Timing does suggest startup and that does suggest current patch.

But sigh...we don't REALLY know that the most recent patch caused the error. We only know that something today clued them that there was a serious error that affected (1) startup of client or server (2) gameplay or (3) integrity of gameplay (opened data corruption or exploit miles wide).

Worse case a slightly bent patch revealed a flaw that has been there since EScalation deployment but which had not yet grown large enough to be noteworthy. Rewrite patch. Write new patch to fix newly discovered flaw. Possibly write DB routines to fix any corruption.

CCP DEV lives are not easy all the time. They just generally make it look that way. And by making it look easy every tiny mistake on a smooth surface looks like a mountain.
