has anyone figured out how to place a fleet invite for a corp or alliance self invite fleet in the MOTD of a private channel?
I'm almost sure that there is a way to do this, but I haven't found the syntax yet
If you copy url you get:
http://gang:1083910448327
If you copy you get:
[14:00:02] xxxxxxx > <url=gang:1083910448327>Fleet Invitation (Corporation)</url>
And when you paste to MOTD settings, you get:
[14:09:17] EVE System > Channel MOTD changed to "<fontsize=14><color=0xff00ff00><url=gang:1083910448327>Fleet Invitation (Corporation)</url>" by xxxxxxxx
Any clues on how to get it to say "Click to join this fleet" when you mouse over the url in the MOTD?

I'm not sure if I understood the question. Anyway - to enable self invite you click on the small triangle in the 'Fleet' window and select 'set fleet invite to' and then either 'Alliance' or 'Corporation' (only the boss of the fleet/FC can do this).
To post a self invite you just click on your character portrait in the channel and choose the bottom option 'Channel' and then 'Post Fleet Invitation' (every fleet member can do this once the self invite has been enabled as described above.) Note, however, that it refers to the Corp/Alliance that opened the fleet. A member of another corp/alliance can post fleet invitations, but only the original 'owners' can use them to get into the fleet.
I never saw that 'Click to join the fleet' when hovering the mouse cursor over the link

I think OP is asking how to put fleet invitation link into chat channel MOTD. So people log in, see the fleet link on the top of chat channel, can push it and end up in fleet without having to beg for someone to invite them (if they are for example not in the 'correct' fleet or corporation).
I do not know the answer for that question btw.

It would be insanely convenient for just about any group of players. Because it would be so good I somehow doubt it's possible 
I will urge you to post in the features/ideas section, if this isn't possible then it sure as hell should be added.
