Below is a list of known EVE Online retailers that are carrying the new Special Edition Apocrypha retail box.
Please note that this is not a complete list and it will be updated as we get more information from Atari and our playerbase. If you know of a store, that is carrying the EVE Online retail box and it is not on this list, then please let us know by posting here.
All stores based in Europe will be receiving their shipment of boxes on the 12th of March, while stores in the U.S. received their shipment on the 10th of March. This is because gaming stores in Europe receive inventory once a week and that happens to be on Thursdays.
USA - Amazon.com - Best Buy - Gamestop - Wal-Mart
Germany - Amazon.de - Gamestop - Karstadt - Kaufhof - Media Markt - Mnller - Saturn - World of Video
UK - Amazon - Game - PC World - Play
Benelux - Dreamland - Dynabyte - fnac - Free Record Shop - Game Mania
Scandinavia - Blockbuster - Discshop - Expert - Game Stores - Gamestop - Ginza - MediaMarkt - Pelaaja Pelikauupa - Platekompaniet - Spaceworld - Stereostudio

Thank you for the added retailer listings.
We don¦t have information about retailers down under, and are waiting to hear from Atari Australia.
The version in the retail box does require some patching as it had to go into production before the final build was ready.

PLEASE NOTE
The DVD has a Quantum Rise client on it. The exact same you have right now pre-patch. You still need to do the 1.4GB patch even if you install from the retail disc.

I am already a subscriber (one account only) and would like to know if buying that box would help in anyway (Aside from the plus side to be able to put this nice product into a shelf)? e.g. Is it possible to use the key contained therein to extend and existing subscription? What is this "special edition ship" which is mentioned on the cover?

Called into my local "Game" store here in the UK, Manager plays Eve and told me they have the boxes in the back and will be on sale Friday 13th. His advised price is 30 uk pounds but that may change on the day.
Funny thing is they have only 2 copies, he bought one and I put my name on the other.
No promotional material in the 2 stores I visited. If that is an indicator of all stores then there wont be many new players buying on impulse.

Friend of mine who works at the Free Record Shop could even tell me they don't even have a listing of how many they are going to get which means it could take a while before they receive their shipments.
Fail
TBH i feel that it's a shame there wasn't a bit more effort put in with a nice cardboard and posters or something. Create a small fuss about it, release enough copies on time and you'll get to sell more than you do now. Marketing 101 i'd say Atari ___________

You did get the correct box, Troutish. Eve Online "Special Edition" is the new one being sold now. I finally found a copy today from an EBgames after phoning them since Tuesday (I'm in Edmonton, Canada) and I also had to download the Apocrypha patch, about 1.4GB, although I'm lucky to have a cable connection so it didn't take too long. I did a search on google and it seems that other people are saying the same thing, Apocrypha wasn't included on the disks just the 9 previous expansions.

Well, I live in the Alanta, Georgia area and I must say, presence in stores is rather lacking.
I have been to every Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target and Gamestop within reasonable driving distance from the Decatur, Ga area and the only place that I found was carrying EVE Online in the actual store was Best Buy. The bad news, they were sold out as of Friday.
Good news for sales, bad news for market coverage.
Something to note for the US market. Target and Walmart list the game as for Web sales ONLY. I actually had the store manager for the Target on North Druid Hills in Decatur confirm that Target is not carrying it on the shelves, web purchase only.
If you found it in the store in a Target or a Walmart in the US, it's a rare thing.
Any other US players having any luck finding it in the stores?

Well, I found my retail box through NewEgg at a price below all others including shipping. However, I have to say that IF all the details of this "Special Edition" had been fully divulged, I likely wouldn't have bothered to order it. In order to get the special items and faction points you MUST create a totally new account. Of course, you are free to transfer the items to another account thereafter...

It is telling that nothing at all could be found about Eve-O on Atari's website. I have heard of a few other MMOs that experienced the same scenario down under, namely cancelled orders and no retail placement due to "lack of any interest by anyone whatsoever". Obviously you wanted to purchase the game, but the Ataritards just can't seem to realize that... My advice is to try to find it online at a site that will ship it to you.

I rang Atari Customer Service here in Australia they told me that it seems Australia And New Zealand might have to wait quite awhile for EVE-online boxed mayby after June 2009.
there is suppose to be an agreement between the developer and Atari Australia if the developer is going to release the title in Australia.
CCP you do have quite a lot of players living in Australia and New Zealand wishing to get the game instores.
As a player i would recomend that CCP get the boxed version to Australia & New Zealand soon as possible, i have told people where i live about this title eve-online and there is a lot of intrest. |

I pre-ordered in the Netherlands my box on the 10th. The 13th it was no longer available, now it says available the 27th.
Way_to_go Atari! You had a bloody 3 months to distribute the box.

Thank you 45thtiger. I can inform all our friends down under that CCP is absolutely not holding anything back and preventing the distribution of the box in Australia.
Quite the opposite, we are doing everything we can to expedite this process and we are waiting to get a response from Atari regarding Australia and New Zealand.
I will update this thread when I have more information.

Thank you for finding a link, i lost the link and couldent find info on it again, im guessing the chance of getting it in New Zealand depends if Australia gets it, i doubt they would ship it just for us in New Zealand.

Sooo...
If you read the article carefully you see the line:
Quote:
The only two MMOG titles we've been able to locate that are presently on shelves in Australian stores and that are in compliance are Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (rated 'M' for "moderate fantasy violence"), and EVE Online (rated 'PG' for "mild violence, Gaming experience may change online").
It appears the Eve-Online is classified and can be sold on Australian shelves.

Another note about "GAMESTOP"
If you are buying the box, as I am, for the "collectibility value", don't bother with GAMESTOP.
Every copy in every store I visited was opened, and the media kept behind the counter.
The whole point of a collectible is mint condition, unopened and un-used.
GAMESTOP is fail in this regard, sadly.
They cite "company policy" and the usual minimum wage clerk drivel as an excuse.

Actually it is Company Policy. I worked at Gamestop back when they were called Babbages/Software Etc. It has always been company policy to open all of their games that are on the shelf and put the software behind the counter leaving the box out for display purposes. This helps cut their cost of "stolen product" You really don't have any idea on how many young kids go into the game store and steal a case thinking they are stealing the game. Some Gamestop stores might have a few copies with only 1 display copy out on the floor. It's worth a try to ask. Otherwise find a store that doesn't do this if you are really wanting an unopened copy.

Heheheh, I'm a UK player that happens to be in Arizona atm, and I saw the new box. I'm a Special Edition freak/goon/boy, so despite already owning the game I bought it in GameStop. I'd sugguest people who can't get hold of the box edn' normally go through someone in the US, maybe they could buy it on your behalf and send it to you. (Not me though, I'm going back home soon).
Am I to understand that you can't attach the new goodies to your old account? If so can we change that, Special Ed humpers like me will cry otherwise :)

Quick question, but are there any plans for another run of the box?
I ask because my local PC World and 2 x HMV stores I've tried have now sold out; GAME still has it but they charge ú29.95 and the other two are charging ú24.95.
When I asked, was told by them that as it's a 'Special Edition' the expectation was that they wouldn't be getting any more.
Given that it's the cheapest way to play EVE given the current exchange rates (aside from buying a 1 year sub), more boxes or retail GTC's would be welcome.

Watch out if you buy it in the UK at GAME. All shelf copy's at my local GAME are empty and they simply but the book/disc etc (which they keep behind the counter) in to an empty box. My GAME put the disc and book in the box but not the activation key, when i opened it and found out i took the copy back and they are refusing a refund claiming i took the activation key out the box and i'm trying to get another copy for free.

Could you please give an update if Atari Australia and NZ are going to provide the game or do we have to wait for a year for something to happen.

ccp arent the problem here in nz and aus, atari are. expect it to just turn up in stores in about a month as this is something atari are becomign well known for. they say they will distribute a game, then change thier minds a week from the launch of said game. only ot have the game suddenly show up 4 months later. meanwhile, they say nothing to anyone.
/goes off to dig up the thread he made back when ccp first said atari was distribuing eve telling them not to do it cause atari will jsut screw it up [CENTER]______________________________________________

Walmart is VERY spotty if any of them at all stil carry Eve Online retail. Of the 8 Walmarts in a 100 mile radius where I live, NONE of them stock Eve any more and only 3 ever did.
Best Buy is also spotty on Eve in stock - 4 in a 100 mile radius of me and only 2 have it.
Gamestop - usually all have it but they only tend to have one in stock at a time, and slow to restock if it sells.

I'd like to share that Portuguese fnac (www.fnac.pt) also has the box.
I bought it at one of their physical stores :D
There was something i found funny while trying to buy it there:
I went to the store on the lookout for the box, according to the box cover image on their website (the Games for Windows one, does that even exist?) their version wasn't the Special Edition o_O, anyway i went to buy it.
I looked for it at the shelves but couldn't find it... (for moments i swayed to the collectors edition of WarHammer that was there at a cheap ass price), anyway i had to ask one of the employees for it, the girl asked me what game i was looking for and she went to the shelves looking for it despite me telling her i couldn't find it (how dare she doubt my probing skills!) she comes back and searches in the inventory using a pc at her station, i take a peek and see that only one result comes up, 2 units in stock (cool i think), she opens the details and... the box cover image show was the old one from eons ago, i got worried.
She makes a phone call and tells me to wait, i go back to browsing the games section.
15 min later she comes back and brings in her hands the Special Edition Box :O.
Not that i expect any Portuguese store to get the details right on any product they are selling, but... i found that funny.
It is also available at worten (www.worten.pt): here
The cover shown at their website is the correct one, but i does not have Special Edition written on it. I guess it is the SE that they are selling as well... |

Edited by: Miss Xoco on 10/08/2009 12:30:55 There was much more retailers in a lot of countrys selling the SE box. However, most of them are probably out of it already. In Switzerland the best chance to buy if you need a copy, simply go get it from http://www.wog.ch/ or http://www.alcom.ch/games.php?mc=1 they still have it in storage, 100% trusted online shops. Most of the usual shops however, arnt selling it anymore or never sold it at all. EVE certainly is a bit of a niche product and it would be easyer getting some other online games, but i wont spell out names here. Think i find it pretty adorable having Atari as a publisher of EVE stuff, Atari simply got a great name, and is known for publishing stuff which isnt always mainstream.

Edited by: alphapharm on 04/09/2009 16:03:10 I visited a games store in Geelong, Australia in Late August and they said the Eve boxset was due to be avaiable in late 2009 but with no actual date. Whereas other stores no longer have it on their data bases.

and from whati hear, mighty ape is parallel importing them from the us. i have now given up on actually getting a physical copy of the game and refuse to buy anything with atari on it as they clearly dont care about us, so why should we continue to help them by buying thier products

Edited by: Von Jupiter on 17/09/2009 19:30:11 I think there is a small typo in Scandinavia side of retailer. "Pelaaja Pelikauupa" should be "Pelaaja Pelikauppa", so kauppa, not kauupa ;P

I would like CCP to make Eve Time Codes (Game Time Codes) available at retail outlets so I can pay cash to purchase a card. They could create them exactly like a lottery scratch card, with silver stuff over the code that you have to sc**** away to reveal the code.
I ask this because, I dont have a bank account or a credit card.
Although today I received a NEW type of credit card called "Load & Go" by o2 http://www.o2.co.uk/money
This credit card acts as a "pay and go" mobile/cell phone. You top-up the card with cash at a store. The only problem is, PayPal do not accept this card. The card details are as follows:
Card Type: Load and Go, VISA debit card. Bank: NatWest Currently being sold in: UK.
The reason I am posting this information is because if CCP knew how popular this card is in the UK they would promote the idea of payment as it is very accessible for people like me with no bank account. It would generate more money for CCP and is a great market tactic to also increase the awareness of EVE and to be different than all the other games out there.
If I cant pay for my accounts soon, I wont be able to play EVE. I already paid ú25 into this credit card to buy an EVE TimeCode...yet these NEW credit cards are not welcomed by any of the Eve retailers selling GTCs. Its 2009, and the future is now, if CCP's retailers dont update their payment methods they will lose out in customers and lose out in a LOT of money. I may have to leave Eve due to my method of payment not being accepted, and that means that CCP are losing out on money that I could be giving them every month on two account for the next 10 years. Thats a lot of money, and are you willing to allow this money to escape you CCP? - Quick Chewy, pass me the quaffe! |

I do have a shop (in Germany though) and I'd like having GTC scratch cards for sale. Who do I have to contact to get quotes and terms of shipment, etc.?

Well the good news is that there is a seller in Australia now
discountgamer.com.au
They sell both the boxed game and the time cards
With luck the bigger players might start stocking them as well

Just checked Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Gamestop, all CAN GET in 7 to 10 days but not on the shelves unless you live in a large city and then maybe not in stock.

Every Best Buy in my area has allowed the Eve box set to run out of stock, with NO indication they ever plan to stock more. I do not believe they should continue to be in this listing any more.
Gamestop is irregular - some have ONE copy, some have none, the ones that are out *will* special-order if you ask though.
Walmart is irregular - some never carried it, some have a few, the ones that never carried it won't special order it and have NO plans to ever stock it, one store ran out and has said they won't be restocking it.

I've been playing Eve for almost 7 years soon... I did buy this box some days ago, wondering what this "Special Edition Ship" is...
Well... supprise supprise, I couldn't get the ship, without creation a new account??? oki, so I did... and this special ship,a Interbus Shuttle... What the... ?? was that all???
I sitting here wondering, why didn't I just buy a 6 month addition to the one I had...
I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it, if you want the CD, go ahead. But note, you'll have to download and update to the last patch. So insted of install from the CD, download and install the full installation. And this "special shuttle"??? The only diffrent from a normal shulle... It has a 20m3 cargohold, instead of 10m3... So, you do the math. ------------ Dozar Klingz
