hello,
any idea whats up with mission rewards? I'm getting considerably lower LPs and ISK rewards, as if I had no bonus skills and I have all @ 4.
This is with the same agent I ran with just two days before the patch, and I have maxed standings with her.
If anybody knows about it please tell me, I tried to find stuff in patch notes and forum but didnt find anything, I appologize if this has already been covered.
Tnx red

Edited by: redBusiness2 on 11/03/2009 21:34:19 i expected a few of such lame predictable anwsers. you're boring.
if its indeed a nerf you'll just pay more for faction ammo and mods you might use, i might turn my attention to 0.0 ratting or scanning for income for my pvp ships.
so can anybody confirm its a nerf? if so its aimed to convince people to do more exploration.
cheers

I'm not boring. Mission running is boring. Furthermore, mission running was and still is a ridiculously easy way to make ISK come out of every orifice in your body. It is just too much money for little to no risk. I run missions. In fact, before I got into trading, missions were my primary source of income. And even as a mission runner I htink LV4's are way too easy and profitable. I'd be very happy to see mission running rewards severely nerfed. And no, I won't be paying more for faction ammo than anyone else. -------- [ |

To answer the OPs question, Mission rewards/lps are not fixed, there is an mechanic in place that averages out the time taken to complete a mission and reward/lp is based on that.
With the patch the mission system has been changed considerably and so rewards were probably reset back to default lvls. You will probably notice the rewards changing over the next few days/weeks as more people run missions, settling eventually at a pre patch lvl.

I'm calling you out. What about my statements makes me an idiot? Is it the contradiction you've created out of thin air by juxtaposing those two statements? I specifically admitted that I enage in PvE carebearing. And at the same time I think it should be nerfed. These two position are not mutually exclusive. -------- [ |

I don`t really get the missile nerf whines. My raven hulls and NH seem to be just as good as before, I think it`s just the underskilled that were effected really.
I also don`t get people bashing other peoples play styles. So what if people like boring missions, it`s their life. I never do them for the money anyway, just the controlled explosions.
I think that guy above was probably right, some kind of self-levelling thing is going on. Give it a few days and try again.

Dynamic rewards. During the major patches if they change something in mission it sometimes drops to 'default' values. However those few missions I have done so far have granted me approx same rewards as before patch so it most certainly was not 'reset' to all mission rewards.

Finally ? The nerf bat has been swinging at the missionbears for the last couple of years ...
And concerning the "reduced rewards", that's indeed the "dynamic rewards" mechanic kicking in, like it did for all major extensions/patches for the last 4 years (dunno before that, I only started playing in november 2004). <~ sig starts here

After running a number of missions, I faction fit a ship and wander into lo-sec. I get pwned and podded, and wake up in a clone vat.
That way I assuage the guilt of being a mission runner who makes too much Isk, and help support some poor piwate ganker who is scraping by blowing up noobs and the occasional dumb miner.
If more carebears would realize they have a debt to pay to Eve PvPers for being so lazy and rich, Eve would be a better place and everyone would get along a lot better.

Oh I felt it... my 7 Siege Launcher CNR felt it big time. *sigh* I miss my boom-boat. (I dont like killing things further than 40km from my current, bookmarked location anyways. For obvious reasons.)
Fortunately I spent a whole lot of time training all factions, so here I am going strong in a vargur nowadays.
Mission Rewards seem about same to me.

How else would they have to measure their e-peen? Somehow people actually think it makes them more "cool" to play a different part of the game more than another person. I just chuckle when I think about how far that's going to take them in life.

i never thought about it that way before, damn, i feel bad that i like to keep/use my mission money for myself. i should stop enjoying EVE and begin to ensure that my play style and play time directly benefit others. I feel ... free now. |

lasers were always good. and then great when used on the right targets.
missiles are still fine. they just don't work as well as they did with 500k sp in them.... (god I miss my torp cnr that could hit out to my lock range with 900k sp in missiles.)
and yes, I use both. t2 large lasers and cruise/torps.

Well apparently our view of you differs from your view of you.
Originally by: VJ Maverick Mission running is boring.
That's your opinion, and as such, you have the option to exercise it by not running missions.
Originally by: VJ Maverick Furthermore, mission running was and still is a ridiculously easy way to make ISK come out of every orifice in your body.
Along with belt ratting in alliance space, mining in alliance space, complex farming in alliance space, mining in high sec, trading in high sec. Wow. We should just eliminate everything but pirating and mission-running/mining in low-sec. That way you billy-bad-azz internet tough guys have more "risky" targets.
Originally by: VJ Maverick It is just too much money for little to no risk.
It would seem that your view, once again, differs from not only a significant percentage of Eve's playerbase...but also from CCPs.
Originally by: VJ Maverick I run missions/missions were my primary source of income.

I've not done a mission since I found my first wormhole and got a percentage of the loot from the heavy hitters who took advantage of it.
I think wormhole scouting is going to be a fine new profession for me. :)

Ahead in what? I didn't realize that this was a race for the most epic strawman. So far, that's what these EPIX burns are. Taking apart what I said and spinning them into a context clearly not supported by the original discussion. These EPIX burns are premised on rhetorical positions I never took or just outright personal insults.
For example, I cannot possibly be the one complaining here. Everything about a potential nerf to profitability of PvE makes me very happy. Therefore, I don't know how I have been pigeonholed (transparently so) into the role of being the whiny complainer. If you really read what I said, the opposite is true. I personally rejoice in any potential adjustment to PvE rewards which would make mission running less lucrative. And no, that's not logically equivalent to complaining about it. Wertgqwergqerg is obviously a dedicated activist. But he's being intellectually dishonest by obfuscating the real issue with with quote mining rhetoric that could only work in the perception of the intellectually infirm. -------- [ |
