Well I managed to get a full refund on the box from game, but it took a lot of moaning on my part, moral of the story: you need to complain MUCH more

Cheaper than buying a GTC straight, so I'm purchasing whatever it comes with.

The career guide is indeed exclusive to everyone who has an internet connection. It didn't say "box set exclusive," did it? A clever trick. _ |

Why are you people even buying this stupid boxset?
The 'exclusive' new ship is a yellow gallente shuttle with a bit more cargo space and the rest of the goodies can be obtained elsewhere. They didn't even bother to design a new hull for the shuttle - what a joke!
It's all just a pathetic attempt to draw in new customers by providing some things all nice and gift wrapped in a box that they can easily get on-line if only they bother to look. i.e. It's exactly what EVE was never about - SPOONFEEDING
The kind of player that falls for this is the clueless teenager shopping for something different to play over the coming weekend. God help us if they all start playing EVE!
It's disappointing that CCP has succumbed to cheap marketing ploys tp produce this but sadly, no company is perfect.

Technically, the "Advanced Career Guide" is listed under the "Exclusive" section on the front of the box.

Originally by: ry ry the boxed game costs less than a 60day GTC.
why are you complaining?
No it doesn't. In the UK, the box RRP's at ś29.99. You can get a GTC from Shattered Crystal for around about the ś24 mark taking exchange rates into account.
play.com and Game are doing it for ś24.99, which is a squid cheaper than a shattered crystal gtc taking what they cost to buy into account.
or if you'd been quicker you could have got a copy for ś17 from shopto.net which is a whole negative 9 pounds more expensive than shattered crystal.

you post on a public forum, you should probably be prepared to defend your opinion. "none of your business" isn't the most compelling argument.
hopefully CCP will cough up some free stuff soon. i'm struggling to maintain the pretence that i feel cheated by my lack of shuttle.

Which I feel I have done, fervently. However, I was promised a shuttle, I therefore want it. What does it matter why I want it or not? It's not an opinion, it's a state of mind.
You are of course free to voice your opinion as to whether the shuttle is good value or not, or an excellent ship or not, and I will argue whichever side I come on (In this case I happen to agree that it is merely a cheap reskinning of a Gallente Shuttle, but a pretty one). However that doesn't change how much I want it, nor my state of mind.

Have the UK version aswell, nothing written on the box.
Some people are obviously saying its just a shuttle etc, but what you don't seem to get is that, if it is advertised, you should get it.
If you want the shuttle, you have to create a new account (thus removing the fact you can use the 60 days on a existing account).
I'd love to work in a showroom and one of you people saying we are moaning about nothing comes in and buys a brand new ś2,500 remote control TV. Just to find when you got it home there was no remote in the box. When you complain, i would just say the same as you are saying now. What are you whinging about, its only a remote, just get online to some online retailer and buy one for ś50. You would soon be complaining. Same principle applies.
Petitioned to CCP and got this responce:
Quote: Hi,
We assure you that we are not trying to deceive our customers. It was never intended that the bonuses would be applied to old accounts as they were there for the sole purpose of enhancing the new player experience.
For reasons unknown to CCP, Atari removed this notification from the boxes sold in the UK and Germany even though that notification was on the approved design from CCP. We regret if the omission of this text on the outside of the box has caused you any type of inconvenience, but we have informed Atari about their mistake and they will be correcting this on the next production run. It is unfortunate if this is also left out in the description by ęplay.comĘ, but we are not responsible for how various retailers advertize their products. However, we appreciate you pointing this out to us and we will contact and ask them to correct this.
We understand your frustration, but we will not be able to add the bonuses to old accounts. All we can suggest is that you contact Atari or ęplay.comĘ if you wish to get a refund.
If you need further assistance, please donĘt hesitate to contact us again.
Best Regards, GM Thunder EVE Online Customer Support
I had already contacted play.com about a refund, but as i had opened the box, i was no longer entitled to a refund. Although i had to open the box and try to apply the 60 days to find out that i wasnt able to add the items to an existing account.
As for them asking me to contact Atari for a refund, i am gobsmacked, don't they proof thier items before agreeing manufacture of thousands of items?
In the next day or two, i will be contacting the ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) and Trading Standards to see what they have to say...

And you do if you use the product in the instructed way.
Granted the instructions are inside the box (As with most products) so i'm not blind to the issue but it's not like there was nothing printed anywhere on or within the product.
Having that printed on the box would be helpfull I agree, and good luck with whatever course of action you take, I do hope you get an result that you agree with.

So stupid to whine about how I was promissed a POS shuttle, Grow up. Ofcoarse .. how could i expect someone who went and bought a box set for a stupid shuttle to grow up. So continue crying I geuss.
