How much of a sec hit do you take for opening fire/warp scrambling/aggressive act on somebody in low sec space (.4-.1)?
what about for destroying his ship? and for a podkill?

low sec is the same as empire.....for opening fire it is 0.1, for destroying the ship it is 0.4, pods i think are 0.1 as well. feel free to correct me on this.....
saddest day in EVE by far is when my sec rating went positive........*sobs* |

From my experience and newly acquired -4.0 rating, here's how it appears to work if you started at 0.0 in a 0.4 system.
I've fired first on 6 ships total, and 4 of those resulted in podkills. Obviously that means that podding does less than -1.0. It's closer to 0.8, and each act of aggression totaled me around .1 from all the modules activated to achieve the kill. It's really like .1034235269andsomeoddcrap so it's possible to occassionally take an unexpected extra .1 or so hit.
I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

Edited by: Korben Allahn on 17/08/2004 19:08:11 I think if you have a positive sec you take more of a hit. A friend of my corp was hunting with us yesterday when we killed a MOA. I destroyed the ship in my Celestis, but since he participated by scrambling the target he took a -.5 hit. Then we scrambled the pod and he accidentally activated a micro. The micro damaged the pod, but didn't kill it, I'm guessing because he was too far away.
When the pod refused to pay the tax, I killed it. But, since our friend had "participated in the podding of alpharave89 (or whatever his name was)" his sec plummeted. He started with something like a 0.9 and when it was over had a -1.1.

What I don't understand is why does it take that much of a hit to pod some one. I podded 3 people yesterday, destroyed 5-6 ships, and my sec went from 0.0 to -4.0 Now I am guessing it will take weeks before I can be an upstanding citizen. Then again one day of fun to get back down to where I can hardly travel through empire to get back to 0.0 to hunt more BS.

Ummm.... It's to prevent ppl like you who want to be able to kill anyone they want one day, and then go back to empire space for faster travel luxury the next day. If you're going to kill ppl...live with the consequences. Think of it like RL...if you do something bad, people will remember it for a time to come, but if you do something nice, they only remember for a short time. And further more, it takes a LOT of nice deeds to undo a naughty one.
Also think about how much you're holding someone back for podding them, they lost their ship, theis loot, and their clone, so if you don't get held back at all for doing this, this game would be in favor of pirates WAY too much.
It makes those of us who want to be able to still travel in empire space for ease of time etc. think about who we are going to kill, instead of just ganking everyone we see with no thought. The amount of times I've passed up targets just because I knew it wasn't worth the sec hit is too many to count.
And I think the amount of sec hit you take is also dependant on the sec status of your target, and how long they've been in the game, etc. Perhaps even which empire controls the area of space you killed them in and their faction and your faction towards that empire. This is something we still do not completely know at this time.
