CALDARI INDEPENDENT NAVY RESERVE NEWS RELEASE
IMMEDIATE RELEASE20 March
On February 16th the Command Staff of the Caldari Independent Navy Reserve authorized Operation Liberation for commencement. The order was signed by Admiral of the Fleet Ladel Teravada that same day.
Operation Libertation's goal was the removal of Gallente military power over the Intaki people in the Verge Vendor and Placid Regions. CAIN combat fleets deployed en mass to the Intaki System on 17 Feb and began assaults on adjacent systems and constellations. CAIN led offensives captured the Iges system on 6 March, the Loes system on 15 March, the Oueletta System on 17 March and the Intaki system on 18 March. This list is not all inclusive as battle reports are still awaiting final disposition.
During Operation Liberation many battles were fought against not only Gallente Militia and Gallente military flagged vessels but also against local brigands and warlords that threatened the security of the operational regions. During combat actions CAIN recorded and estimated 190 enemy vessels destroyed and suffered 53 casualties. These records are not inclusive of allied commands operating in the combat theater.
While in Theater CAIN was assisted by members of the Caldari Militia and the State Protectorate. Notable assistance was obtained from the 22nd Black Rise Defensive Unit and the Space Perverts and Forums Warriors United Corporation.
CAIN's record of assisting the Intaki people goes back many years. We have operated in the Intaki influence area before and at the request of Intaki Paramilitary forces. With the completion of Operation Liberation the Intaki people now have the opportunity to choose for themselves their future. We hope that the Intaki people will be able to take command of their future and move in a direction of hope and prosperity without worry of subjugation at the hands of an aggressive Gallente Military. CAIN will maintain combat assets in the area on an as needed basis to counter any aggressive actions from forces that would threaten security to the area.
You can find an offical press release at the CAIN press office located here, or by joining channel CAINCOM. The 22nd Black Rise Defensive Unit has released information here.

Well, I guess CAIN's self-declared defensive posture has been shot in the foot. I'm not surprised, though.
Is "liberating" the Intaki system and therefore giving the Federation further reason to loathe us in the best interests of the State?

I'd LIKE to argue this. I'd like to point out that the Intaki for the most part WANT to be part of the Federation - that even the Intaki Seperatist Movement joined the FDU when the war broke out and definitely don't want Caldari involvement in their affairs. I'd like to point out that the Intaki are a major influence on modern Federation culture, that the president is Intaki, as are many of the Federation's senators, and that the Intaki people are more than decisive and strong enough to liberate themselves if they ever truly feel the need.
I'd like to do that. You aren't going to listen though, are you you ignorant, hot-headed bastards? - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

I'm sad to see former friends join a dictator who thinks it is perfectly acceptable to kill his co-workers so the company he works for can be bought up at a discount. You come with lies and hold a gun to the head of our people and call that "liberation"?
Well, I saw it coming and actually stopped wasting my pilot's resources to wage a war the Federation is unwilling to fight. As long as the Federation politicians are safe and sound in high sec space they are content with letting every hobo plow the Placid space lanes. Hopefully this will wake them up.
But who am I kidding? Foiritain might be Intaki by birth, but in my eyes he has left his heritage behind.

Its quite simple. We found that playing it defensive and wait for them to ravage our worlds and systems were not in the best of interest for the Caldari people. So we made sure they had to concentrate on their own systems where the Caldari people would not suffer from their depredations.

The Caldari has never been known to force themselves upon other peoples in the way the Gallente Federation has. Therefore I do not forsee any depredations from our forces. As is not mentioned above, we were actually working with Intaki Liberational forces in the area during this to make things as easy for the general population as possible.

In case you haven't noticed, we are at war. The liberation of Verge Vendor is a perfectly legit act of war, even if you care to debate the "liberation" part. As it is right now, it would be unprofitable for the State to lead a defensive war - just as it's most disadvantageous for the Federation to be forced into fighting one.
How typical of the Gallente - enslave, oppress, start a war, then complain against aggression.

The goal of Operation Liberation was the removal of Gallente Military influence, not to occupy or force Caldari occupation onto the people of Placid. The operation was defensive in nature, as Gallente forces that were invading into Caldari Space used the area for staging, rest and refit. With their haven eliminated, attacks against Caldari planets would be more difficult to undertake and supply.
This operation was conducted for the defense of our State, and not for the grandoise honor of anyone else. It is laughable for individuals and organizations who fight only for isk and blood to judge our actions on their supposide moral grounds. -----------------------------------------------

No? The Federation forced the Caldari living on our homeworld to be classified as expatriates and disallowed them from owning property on our homeworld. The Federal authorities failed to protect not only historical landmarks, artifacts, and memorials; but the Caldari people as well. Only after the damage had been done and violence got out of hand did the Federation decide to step in and then permitted its officers to open fire on civilians.
The 'forcibly exile' of ethnic Gallente from the State was a safety measure; it saved their lives. That they had to do so quickly and relinquish their worldly possessions in order to remain part of this world should not come as a surprise!
Or perhaps you would have preferred their neighbors fully retaliate for the Gallente actions on Caldari Prime!

Perhaps I would have preferred it if the Caldari had not entered Gallente space illegally, taken one of our planets by force (all the while, holding a gun to the heads of billions of Federal citizens) and then, in the name of "security", invaded our sovreign space and taken my home planet from me, covering it in Provist scum. Oh, trust me. That's what I would have preferred.

YOUR PLANET! YOUR PLANET!
Did your ancestors or any Gallente have to survive the harsh winters of the Kaalakiota Mountains or cross the raging sea between Tikiona and the Muriyukes?
Did they have to survive on a half terraformed world and not suffer the fate of so many other civilizations?
The Federation's claim on that world was one of convenience and spite. They held it not because it held any value to them, no, they occupied my homeworld because the Federation could not have what was not theirs to begin with.
As for the legality of its much needed liberation; CONCORD, the Federation puppet that it is, failed to stop it. They were a bit occupied with your would be ally the Republic, perhaps you should talk to them about legality. Rumors are the Federation funded that illegal fleet.

It wasn't a Caldari decision to put the Intaki system on the list of vulnerable systems. That was a Senate decision for their CONCORD representative, they put your homeworld in the firing line. The Gallente controlled Senate robs Intaki of its voice.
No, they, the Gallente, are ensuring they avoid the mistake that they made many years ago. They know that now with Caldari space forces controlling the Intaki system that they can re-occupy it and be greeted as liberators.
You assume that Tibus Heth and the Caldari lump the Intaki in with the Gallente, I disagree. But no, you would rather continue to be dominated by the Gallente than be granted the opportunity to have your own voice in the cluster.

Whatever the case, you seem to be unable to understand the concept of profit. Greed is what drives your profits, and profit is what made the State annex the respective systems. If you cannot get to terms with this simple truth, you cannot understand the State's decisions. There always is a place for more open-minded individuals in the Federation however.

On the contrary, I have a keener appreciation for the term "profit" than many others. For starters, I'm capable of recognizing that profit does not have to be physical or monetary - there's such a thing as a spiritual wealth, after all.
And I agree, Greed is indeed what drove the Protectorate to annex those systems. Greed for glory in combat, to prove their superiority, for... whatever. Exactly what they were greedy for is irrelevant. I am opposed to what they have done, and that's the end of it.
Oh, and do your research, pilot, before suggesting that I of all people might not be loyal to the Caldari people. Conscience and dissidence are not the same thing, and it's very stereotypically Gallentean of you to assume that just because I don't agree with what the State is doing RIGHT NOW means I'm automatically tempted to side with the Federation.. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

So now, not only is the invasion of Intaki by Caldari military forces entirely the fault of the Intaki, it's also a secret Gallente conspiracy to allow the Caldari to take the system, then win it back from them at great expense to secure popularity among the Intaki to avoid them exercising the revolution that, if had been successful, meant they wouldn't... err, have gotten invaded in the first place?
I'm sorry, Nederland, does Lai Dai have access to some sort of powerful psychadelic hallucinogen that isn't available on the open market? If so, I want some. Either that or they've developed a method of recto-cranial inversion at least 50% more effective than the current leading brand.

No.
It seems based on what the Intaki and Gallente here are so worried about that Intaki Prime is under full occupation the State; that the State is investing as much towards Intaki Prime as it is Caldari Prime. That half of the State is employed in the physical occupation of every world in Verge Vendor.
As for my sanity and my "conspiracy" theory; Intaki please continue to beg the Gallente for handouts and **** poor defense. Please continue to believe that you need the Federation to protect you from pirates (which they do horribly) and the "evil and greedy" Caldari corporations who will come and take your children in the night.
The Federation could have avoided the Intaki system even being listed as a system to be fought over under the terms of the CONCORD Militia Act. The Federation choose to put Intaki on the list. No conspiracy, it is clear that the Federation cares so little for the Intaki homeworld as to allow it to be a vulnerable, low security system, open to occupation.
Mr. Ixiris, I don't want your respect! Your respect means nothing to me.
You are willing to fight for the freedom of another people from one imperialistic power and yet prefer that your own rest firmly under the domination of another imperial power. While only few systems away, Intaki have thrown off the Federation government's domination.
But you, you have bought fully in to the Federation's message, into their propaganda. You are equally devote to the Federation's imperialist message as any member of PIE is to the Amarrian faith.

While me agreeing with Andreus is not as much an earth-shattering event as it might be for others, I'm hard pressed to think of another time when I couldn't agree more.
We do speek, Mr. Nederland, even if what we say is not what you want to hear.
A factual error: CONCORD is solely responsable for designating what the "legal" combat zones are, not the Federation government. Lowsec Placid now shares a signifigant border with Black Rise and that is the only signifigant factor in determining them; there is only one constilation in the region that is not in the warzone and that is because it is cordoned off from the contitugious lowsec area by a coupple of hisec systems.
Originally by: Dex Nederland You assume that Tibus Heth and the Caldari lump the Intaki in with the Gallente, I disagree.
History and the Waschi Uprising disagree with you in turn. And fact of the mater is, the majority of Intaki consider themselves loyal to the Federation and are likely to act accordingly, to which the Provits are likely to respond in kind. We grumble about the Federation often enough but we do not have the grudge the Caldari (somewhat justifiably) carry with them. We do not think like Caldari do; there is a reason we have a reputation in the cluster as diplomats, as purveyors of social harmony with other races. And we tried extending that same courtesy to certian Caldari corps including CAIN, we even spoke out for one when it was not popular to do so. See what respect that has gotten us. And you wonder why I don't trust them now!
One thing I missed:
Originally by: Ladel Teraveda Its quite simple. We found that playing it defensive and wait for them to ravage our worlds and systems were not in the best of interest for the Caldari people. So we made sure they had to concentrate on their own systems where the Caldari people would not suffer from their depredations.
Someone else said almost exactly the same thing to me...right before they began a well-known campaign to capture several systems in Black Rise. We see how well that works now, don't we? It's become a pattern, one group flipping occupancy on systems untill they are overextended, then the other group rising to retaliate in kind, untill eventualy it zeros out again. Originally by: Faraelle Brightman A factual error: CONCORD is solely responsable for designating what the "legal" combat zones are, not the Federation government. Lowsec Placid now shares a signifigant border with Black Rise and that is the only signifigant factor in determining them; there is only one constilation in the region that is not in the warzone and that is because it is cordoned off from the contitugious lowsec area by a coupple of hisec systems.
So are you saying that CONCORD, an organization that the Federation, Empire, Republic, State, and Directorate all are party to and fund, put Intaki as a legal combat zone despite the Federation's best diplomats, likely Intaki, calling for review?
That is if you don't consider CONCORD to be a vehicle for Gallente (and Amarrian if you prefer) imperialism to begin with.
As for the constellations of Placid, fairly certain I can travel from the Wirykomi stations in Vlillirier to the CBT station in Reynire without ever entering Federation high security space; Reynire is a non-combat zone, 4 jumps out from Intaki, a series of sec level 2 systems. Seems that one constellation is not isolated by a pocket of high sec space.

For myself, I'm not privy to the political debate and jockeying which highly likely took place. I'm pretty sure, though, that similar calls for review poured in from diplomats representing all sides, seeking to have this system, that constellation, excluded from the legal combat zone. The fact is, the combat zone was determined by CONCORD, and we're all obliged to operate accordingly.
Neither CAIN nor the ILF have a mandate to speak for the Intaki. My people are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves in the political and public channels within the Federation, and need no help from invading Caldari or minority terrorists.
In Strix, we have a history with both organisations. CAIN declared war on us to stop us running relief convoys to Caldari systems back in Y109 when the Brothers of Freedom and their supporters were being brutally suppressed by the Caldari authorities. The ILF used to try to subvert our Intaki pilots, with threats of violence on occasions.
We despised the ILF then, and continue to do so. They seek to impose their own minority views on the whole Intaki people, regardless of the fact that the vast majority of Intaki want nothing of their so-called "liberation".
CAIN, on the other hand... you did then what you felt you had to do with regard to your obligations to the State you serve and protect. We respected that.
With regard to Intaki, you took what you saw as a strategic target. Please don't insult our intelligence by trying to present the invasion of the Intaki system as anything more than a military objective. My personal anger at seeing the homeworld of my people under Caldari control... has no place in this war. We tried and failed to prevent you. Rest assured, we are not done. The Intaki system is part of the Federation.

Yes, yes I do. I'd say more, but when both sides keep proving me right, why bother?

Intaki are Caldari. Don't rely on what they teach at Caille or what they sell on the Scope for a representation of life in Waschi City. If you want to know what life is like there you should visit for yourself. It maybe be a real eye opener. The Gallente learned they couldn't conquer with Blaster rifles and orbital strikes during the first war - unfortunately consumer electronics, holo-reels and sugar coated corn flakes make a much more effective and sublte weapon of oppression.

You do realize the very same mysterious backer behind the Brothers of Freedom terrorist and their attacks of civilians is almost certainly the same mysterious backer behind the Provists right? BoF was the first Provist attempt at a coup. ============================================

Adjusted for clarity; it is clear that the Gallente have been working hard since the War for Independence to indoctrinate the Intaki (and other minorities) into Gallente culture and beliefs. Only a sememblance of Intaki cultural remains (like our own) the rest has been steadily and carefully stripped from them by the Gallente.
No, they won't understand what you mean Grayson-haan; they think it means something else, not that we consider them kin, brethern, who have bought into the false promises of equality offered by the Gallente.

Not that I need to explain myself to Guri, but Miss Bright has let the Scope convince her that State citizens of Intaki heritage are treated like foreigners, like Jaijii by Civire and Deties and used the Waschi uprising of all things as proof. Does it happen under the Heth regime? You bet. In a population as big as the State there are plenty of fools to be found and they do like to congregate. Let some provist thug try it in Waschi city and see how long it takes him to get strung up on Memorial bridge. The Intaki there aren't Jaijii - they are Caldari and will proudly tell you so. ============================================
