Edited by: loladoll on 19/08/2004 22:07:13 hmm, nice graph, quit strong growth
however, I remember that half a year or more ago there was some mentioning that Eve had already 50.000 subscribers.
So either they were to optimistic, or the catch is in the definition of "active subscription".
But however, congrats CCP ______________________________________ live is tough and then you get a clone |

omgz! RUNESCAPE beat eve?????
That game is not only compeltely crap, but they just nerfed it to hell with their '3d update'
I suppose the fact that its mainly inhabited ny 12 year olds and those numbers probably count f2p and p2p players (and even the p2p ones pay less than $5 a month) means we still won :)
We seem to have a nice sustained growth pattern though, long may it continue.

That was about the time the wizards in the marketing department started with the trial programs and ISD/STAR started ramping up the Meet and Greet program. With Shiva just around the corner, we hope to hit 75k+ subs by Christmas.

I don't believe anyone from CCP mentioned that EVE had more than 50k paying subscriptions. However, the numbers in the graph are accurate (Hellmar provided numbers to the owner of the graph). If we were looking to split hairs and count the number of subs and included trial accounts (more than 5k trial accounts are active right now), we would be well over the 50k mark.

not to be rude (cause it will come across that way )
but you guys need to get your collective behinds up and make some ads for the networks in the US (and quite possible in europe)
you are extremely lucky if you stumble across EVE online even if some of your friends play it as it is atm rather hard to find
you guys got the BRILIANT idear (absoulutely briliant BTW) to make free (no catch no CC requiered) 14 day accounts for peoble to try out EVE (nine out of ten peoble will try something like that atleast once) i dont know how many peoble that try eve stay's but i am guessing its atleast 50% there is 256 mill peoble in the US (or quite possible more not sure i just live here ) lets say just 100 mill of those peoble try EVE and half of them likes it
i mean everyone here has heard of everquest (the game is not even half as good as EVE) sims online and lineage no one have heard of EVE
EVE is the best game out there of its type but no one heard of it that saddens me
please please please Finish Shiva (in its time) then upgrade the servers and buy some network time here in the states let peoble know that by going to EVE-ONLINE.COM you can get a free trial for a game that does not even ask for your credit card and see the peoble stream into the game
when the states are in (and you guys have upgraded the servers 10-15 times to handle the load ) then do the samme in Europe
once we have 50k players online at the samme time i might stop complaining
Thank You Paw Sandberg

Edited by: DarkStar251 on 20/08/2004 04:26:25 Yes, EVE is very much an unknown atm. If not network time, running some ads in PC Format and the related mags would surely drum up some interest. Hell get them to stick a copy on the CD with codes for 30 day account time or something and you are BOUND to get more people playing.
Not only that, but I very rarely see the game in stores these days.... some prople like a tangible box for their money...
Assuming 45,000 subs thats about $675,000 per month income. Hell I'd be up for waiting an extra month for Shiva so you can use the cash for a large advertising campaign, gaining a significant number of subs.
Then again, I'm just some random guy and I'm sure your marketing wizards have already thought of this and other ideas :D
After all, Its only a matter of time before we see X2:Online Universe released. The single-player X games already have a large following, and I see it as EVE's next direct competitior.
I'd guess it will have a large amount of publicity, they have promised 50k+ symultainious players, and 1 persistant world, just like EVE. I think EVE needs to get itself establised as the leader in its genre before such a release :)

Heheheh well all info indicated november 3th as the date (though that could become later ofcourse). Eve fanfest is at the end of oktober and the people there will get a sneak preview to shiva...
So they definatly dont expect to release it before the fan fest, also since support cruisers are supposed to be out before shiva kinda gives it away if you look at the time interval between new ship types over the last half year. -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

If we get enough players CCP will be forced to upgrade the server and forced to get more emplyoes. This could begin to make things go faster. I shall start my own advertising campaign.... ---
