Hello all..
Could someone from CCP Please tell us if the sound volume/zoom relation is a feature or an issue? I really don't like posting on a feedback thread which happens to lack of feedback. I don't want to waste your time and I really wish to enjoy the game. Believe me: With the sound as it is, I'm not 100% playing, just chatting with some friends and checking on my assets and orders. I want to play, of course! and as many around, I want to demand a 'solution'. Instead, I'm patient and politely ask you guys to please let everyone know if the sound has issues or if it's actually a new feature. I already suggested to let the player decide about the level of sounds and it's relation with virtual distance. Look, you can even add a "Sansha's deadspace sound enhancer" or "Talocan hearing aid". I will gladly train it! I can hardly believe it's a feature. I just wish to know.

The new sensor booster effect is too similar to the pre-apocrypha web effect. I freaked out on turning mine on because i thought someone was tackling me.
The Apocrypha launch effect for them was perfect. Why the change?

New issue: The tool tip that appears when right-clicking a stargate to make a jump seems to stick to the mouse cursor. Slightly annoying.
Old issues: No Salvager effect. No Tractor beam effect.
I stand corrected!! All the above "Old issues" are fixed. My client had all the checkboxes for those effects unchecked :-( The "sticky" tooltip in space has been bug reported. No Missile launch effect. No Explosion sound. No Strip miner effect.
Do you want me to bug report each issue by itself, or one bug report for all of them ?
Tractor had a green beam before patch and salvager was red effect. two less to fix :)

This is an extremely minor thing, but I think it would be nice if players had the option to separately enable/disable camera shake for warping and combat.
I like camera shake for combat, but not for warping. Not having stuff bundled is always a good thing, imo.

New sensor booster effect is visually too loud and irritating. Previous one was on target.
The effect is also off-center on the Drake model. Bug-reported this.

SOUND SOUND SOUND! The new "feature" of diminishing sound with the distance does absolutely and undeniably NOT work. For my part, I am now not playing, since its simply boring for me now, and to the point where I'm considering not paying too. All the new sounds need either an overhaul, or even better, revert it to pre-apocrypha, and try again in a few years time. By then you (CCP) might have had a chance to understand what the playing community wants from the game
That beeing said, I personally have a pressing issue with the new turret sounds (when you can acctually hear them). The ones that have -not- been changed are fine, as far as I am concerned, but the ones you -have- changed are for the absolute worse. 200mm, and 250mm hybrids sounds for example, sounds like someone spitting in a bloody can! These simply have to be returned to what they once were, pre-apocrypha. The same goes for their animation... They look insignificant as they are now.. no sence of power, no sense of "boom". The sound and visuals of turrets hitting a taget is acctually quite good though, but if you don't fix the above mentioned, it really doesn't matter. Another thing with turrets is that they now have a bad habbit of shooting through your own ship... As far as I remember, this was never an issue before. Again, bad, fix, never should have happend!?! New module effects are equally unimpressive, and while I do see the idea in them, they just don't work. Not soundwise, nor grafics-wise.
The grafics seem to have taken a step in the wrong direction aswell (again, can only speak for myself, my computer, and my experience of the game). The grafics pre-apocrypha were great for my part, and the game ran smoothly, and yes, they were full flegded premium, all settings at max. Now, I don't know, something is wrong, things look odd, even on max settings. And aside from this, the game is horribly unstable when I have the settings where I used to have them. I don't think this is in anyway intentional, but please... if you change something, that makes such a small difference, make sure it doesn't force the clients to downgrade their experience of the game. I really can't figure out who CCP were trying to satisfy with this change tbh.
Stability has taken a serious blow since patchday, and this latest patch to the patch doesn't seem to fix it fully. I still experience (and hear of alot of others aswell) an astounding amount of crashes and freezes. Again, it worked pre-apocypha, there is no reason it shouldn't work after. If you have truely changed the game so much, that our systems aren't good enough anymore, you have effectively alienated quite abit of your playerbase, and that is not very nice of you.
As a last feedback from me, to the ones who care, the new fitting screen is still a horror. Give the option for the old one, please....
I would suggest that you never ever change anything in the game to something less impressive, because as of yet, this expansion has been a great dissapointment on too many aspects. This may sound like common logic, but apparently, for you CCP, it isn't. Any new content and new things to try, see, or explore is effectively mute (pun intended) for my part. hehe soon you'll have us begging for an "eve-clasic" server, need I say more?

A big thumbs up for bringing back camera shake during warp entry and exit. Like many others, I felt this was a simple but very effective way to give the feeling of motion. Considering the amount of time spent in warp, its absence really knocked down the immersion effect for me. Thanks for listening!
The ones that don't like it can turn it off just like they could before, so all is good as far as I'm concerned (although I'm sure some would like a separate config option for warp/missile camera shake.)
I would venture to say that further tweaking to the warp tunnel would be a hit, many are still underwhelmed by the current effect.
The various bug fixes are appreciated, and fixes to the in-battle sound mixing are highly anticipated.

Had to laugh at that. I was thinking the same thing. The hey days of EVE are about to become: Quantum Rise.
From there we lost the best graphics, the classic client, and they removed sound. I mean you can't be serious. What game company would remove sound from their game as a feature?
I'm no longer playing either. Try as I might, I can't get passed the zero sound. I will continue to subscribe for awhile hoping CCP has not become Sony. Please say it isn't so CCP.

Edited by: Subrahmaya Chandrasekhar on 26/03/2009 21:03:30 As mentioned before, shadows have been reduced to pixelated garbage.
The whole Apocrypha release looks like it was overseen by 17-year-old girls. No matter how many new features you add, if you nerf the old ones, ruining the thousands of hours of effort put in by programmers and designers who actually took the time to test their own work and tweak it until it rocked, you FAIL.
To those of you who have produced truly excellent work here, I salute you. To those others, well, you know who you are. You'll have to live with it.
A note to the owners/managers/CEO/whatever: Hey, tomorrow is a new day - you can publicly apologize, acknowledge what you have done, and move on. De Nile is not just a river in Egypt.
Thanks. |

I have no friends, and therefore I need four accounts.
Following the pain of downloading Apocrypha four times, it was very nice to see an option on the patcher to "Clean up downloaded files" that could be unticked to allow for repeated patching without repeated downloading.
Sadly, the step that deletes the 20.7MB file happens well before that checkbox is displayed, so it still gets deleted...
*sigh*
Copying the file out during the actual patching process still works.

Was ever hopeful that you might have actually fixed some of the sound issues in this patch. I don't just mean the missing sounds, or the sounds that are so quiet you can't here them, but the random SNAP CRACKLE POP that will make you soil yourself if you actually turn the game volume up loud enough to here some of the new effects.
I also agree it would be spectacular to see a blue post regarding the sound, just some acknowledgment from you folks at CCP; are the issues related, are they issues at all, or features? Are the random snap crackle pops meant to keep us from falling asleep(or possibly to blow out our speakers)?

Edited by: Georn on 26/03/2009 22:17:55 This new Sensorbooster Effect is simply too much .. it might be OKish if you scroll far out.. but as soon as you get closer it looks like your ships warpcore is about to breach :) The one from the last patch was FINE!
Warp-effect is still ending to soon. warping for about 10 s without any effect is .. bad mkay?
Turrets are still missing recoil
The Acceleration Effect of Accelerationgates does not last through the entire Process of Acceleration :) You see the light for a few seconds after gate activation and then .. nothing
Bloom on large Lasers makes the beams appear bigger than the entire ship.. feature?
Sound.. The new fading feature does not work as well as it should. Could somebody with a 5.1 Setup tell us if it works better there? Maybe all sounds are now encoded 5.1 and only the front channels are used for stereo.. at least I get this expression, because turrets that point towards you are louder than turrets pointing away.. even if range is he same. ____________ even Carebears have teeth |

drones not all the time returning
click return to drone bay 2 or 3 might return to drone bay, rest just get abandoned causing you to have to manually slowboat to them to scoop back to dronebay.
this was mentioned in all feedback threads by multiple people since expansion, first and second patch.

The new sensor booster effect is very likely the dumbest thing ever. Seriously - bring back the boot.ini bug first.
It's no longer possible to enable Bloom with anything more than a handful of ships without the screen becoming too bright to make anything out. CCP seem to have some secret purpose kill off anyone with epilepsy who may happen to watch EVE in action at some point.
And can anyone explain me why a damn sensor booster needs to be more prominent than a web or even a dictor bubble? The old effect was fine, and didn't cause customers to collapse, drooling on the floor with spasms.
