The sounds are really, really bad. I think just about everyone agrees on this point. Having no weapon effect sounds when you zoom away is very disorientating. Sometimes I think the eve game designers just do not get it: Zooming away in game is NOT moving away from your ship, it's just another view. It's YOUR ship, and you her the sounds of your ship at the same level at all times.
No one likes this. Please change it. Apart from the the new jump animations are nice the first 10 times you jump through a gate, but are just a waste after that. Save us from that crap. The algorithm behind the animation looks for all the world , like the java water bubble animations that were ghosting around the web 10 years ago.

I really liked the effect that was in the previous apocrypha build. Why did you change it? -- The future is black.

What? I dont think I know of anyone who doesnt like this. You zoom out things get quieter, thats how its always been. About 1% of the game play with sound anyway. Also yes the Sensor Booster effect is gay as hell. Change it please.

yes.
Further away = quieter, makes sense to me.
Also, why were the deep space probes nerfed? You need astrometrics 5 for them, and prior to the expansion the devs stated they wanted to try to maintain an advantage to max skill probers. While that is still somewhat true, the nature of the changes ment that the quantified difference between a basic and max skill prober is less than it used to be. For example previously someone with covert ops 5 scanned 100% faster than someone in a normal ship. Now they only have +50% more scan strength. Same with the speed skill that got changed to strength. It used to be 100% faster scanning, now its only 50% stronger strength.
I had thought that giving Astrometrics 5 players the deep space probes which were clearly superior to the normal combat probes was supposed to be a reward for having max trained skills. Now they've been reduced to a comedy option you only use to check for deep safes. Was this seriously an unintended stat that slipped through the cracks or did you decide for some reason after the expansion that they needed to be nerfed? What is wrong with astrometrics 5 players being able to use better probes?

Not sure if this is the thread for positive feedback.
I really like the new sound system. It increases the perception of depth in my opinion. I am really happy with the tweaks to the sound system that have come from this patch.
I do think that exploration has become too easy as it used to feel like a cool little career choice. Now everyman and his (flying)dog can do it. I realise the need to make the new system more accessible but I think you might have overshot the mark. Also it would be good if we could filter out already discovered sites from subsequent scans if feasible.
I love it when other people think they speak for the majority of subscribers when moaning about what they don't like.

Do you use a Stereo setup Or Surround Sound? I would really like to know if the sound is ok for surround sound users.

06:28:48 Combat Your Amarr Navy Tachyon Beam Laser barely scratches Supreme Alvus Parasite, causing 3008.7 damage.
If that's "barely scratches" I can't wait til I get a wrecking hit...
In all seriousness though, every hit is "barely scratches". I haven't yet seen a "(Wrecking!)" hit though I'm not sure if that's just because I've been unlucky.
Prior to 1.0.2 all the damage notifications were stuck in simple mode, now post 1.0.2 they're stuck in "barely scratches". I may be being stupid but aren't these things patently obviously broken when they're rolled out to SiSi? |

I use a 5.1 setup and yes, the sound does work... and a few of the effects are ok, maybe even really good. The overall effect though, both from my point-of-view and the 600+ posts I've read since Apocrypha came out, is that the sound is far inferior to the sound they already had in place. I won't say anything else, there's really no need. It's all been said already.

I like the new sound engine. It feels more solid than the old one that could make some irrelevant sounds really high, while giving them from a totally wrong direction.
BUT, it needs some tweaking!
The sound diminishes too fast with distance. Also I think you should get an amplification of sound sources you look at, so if you're playing your mission you get the sounds from the rats you are looking at, but not those behind the camera (unless they are very close). So you get two parameters; the distance between the source and the camera and the aim of the camera.

k, seriously .. the new sensor booster effect is horrible! are we now forced to look away from our monitors if we turn that thing on or what was the initial idea behind that change? take a good look on that .. multiple ships with activated sensor booster are terrible ...
change the sensor booster down to pre Apo 1.0.2, thx
also, and i know it was mentioned somewhere here before, pleaase for the love of god, chnage the current graphocs on the turrets .. it seems like they have the old pre-trinity graphics at all ....

Apocrypha 1.0 Sensor Booster Effect Player Feedback: " It's great and subtle" CCP Response: Let's change it to something horrible.
Apocrypha 1.0 Cyno Jump Effect Player Feedback: " It's meeh, it does not feel like capital ships anymore" CCP Response: Not our problem.
Seriosly CCP guys, shape up a bit, there is a lot of positive fixes, but some actions from you just don't make sense to us. I understand that some things could come up in a later releases, but you have time to change effect everybody liked and does not give a nickle for things pretty much nobody likes.
Ahh and the Deep Space Probes, first think and design a solution for the problem. The fact that Deep Space Probes made Combat Probes obselete was not that much of an issue compared to result hell in W-space with Core Probes. Now everybody can enjoy the maximum frustration of your new scanning system, seriously try for your self to probe out a Wormhole in a WH space with 60 sigs and Core Probes before your gang goes to bed. You are going to hate that scanning system of yours reaaaaly fast.

LOL, you mean that after some CCP developer (can't remember who) actually CONFESSED that he isn't playing the game he's developing, there's any chance in hell that they would notice the problems of their own creation firsthand? And since they're largely ignoring the community.. Draw your own conclusions..

The sound quality of this game is still very bad. It was fine before apocrypha. Are we gonna actually get a fix sometime soon? I feel like I am being robbed for missing such an important part of in game experience.

I have to say, I am delighted with the new patch. I play Eve on my laptop and found it very jerky with low frame rate since the new expansion. This patch has made the game playable once again!

Originally by: Amarretto Christ Well, it was beautiful when the camera didn't shake violently everytime you warped. Alas, CCP "fixed" something that was actually nice. Why did you put the camera shake back into the warp sequence? Were you on drugs? What good does it do? I thought our perspective was from some omnipotent superconscience, not a kite towed behind an internet spaceship. Take that code back out before I get seasick evertime I am running from reds.
You can stil trun of the shake warp thing, just go to eve setup and trun it off i have. i hate the shake thing..

CCP DID EVER SAY THIS ONLY WHAT I THINK.
I think it is sad the CCP dos not give some fedback

With the new patch, the game crashes when I run more than 1 client. CCP eve has encountered an error and needs to close or something to that effect. Decided to do a clean install and see if that resolves it, but no joy.

I agree.. Perhaps I cannot explain you w/o a sample what the problem is. Maybe in your system it's working fine. Well, on my puter it is not and it may be that only a low percentage uses sound but I do. I get friends to check on the game and I used to show them the impressive explosions of both missile/gun hits and ships explosions with my deep bass sound system. And yes, they were always impressed. Few added and current EVE players and as you guessed, they are also disappointed.
I'm not saying that you should get sound the way it was. All I'm saying is let me and you decide how we want it. Now, if you'd like to know my opinion, I'd say the sound effects in EVE have a quality of 7/10 (without adding the current volume/distance relation issue). These effects could be refined: Better explosions, some def explosions (bang-mute-echo), etc.. it's the mixing process of the sounds and the 'realistic approach to the virtual world' which should lead to sounds effects that I bet even you would love to hear every single time!

Hopefully they have taken my advise to DOOMSDAY the Sound Department. So it may be awhile before the quality is up to par!
And although the new rave is all coming from the programmers of what they call the: New Apocrypha ... There still is a slight delay in convincing the rest of the known regions of the world as to why Apocrypha is being inherently misspelled as "Apo-crap-hia" this will also take some time to correct.
When are they going to finalize the sound issues! Nothing worse then just wind in a tunnel! Recorded streamers on my kids tricycle would sound Better! Then this regarded crap for realisms. Or even worse is no sound at all. Re: Drones, Guns, and Lasers, etc!!! Also, if ever upgrades were to be made, other then faction in wreaks, is add some Dread Gerista Into all the empty slots in all the regions

this was mentioned in all feedback threads by multiple people since expansion, first and second patch.
Has been going on since QR if not earlier. Difficult to controllably reproduce for bug reporting, and I've only ever seen it happen while in a level IV mission hub system.
