I don't own a car, and since I'm a full-time student I don't count on being able to afford one anytime soon. But, you know, I like driving, and I like lookin at sweet cars that I probably won't ever get the chance to drive, but it's good motivation to do well.
So I thought we'd take this chance to talk about cars and what we drive / would like to drive.
I'll start:
This is a 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 Eleanor Convertible. (You can probably freely rearrange all of those terms, if you like) I submit that it is the most gorgeous car ever conceieved, ever, and if by some unbelievable stroke of luck I manage to come into $80,000, I know what I'm doing with it...
PICTURES GO Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5 Picture 6 Picture 7 Picture 8 Picture 9
The thing also has a roll bar on it but you can't really tell because for some utterly irritating reason, there are no pictures of this *particular* car with the top down.
As for what I usually drive? Minivan or an 18-year-old buick (I prefer the buick) __________________________________

Sexy Modern cars are nice but they've got this weird emphasis on being super, super smooth, which some people like; I'm not a huge fan. __________________________________

Oh Eleanor. The only car I've truly lusted for. Such a beautiful girl you are. I would take you to dinner, show you around town, enjoy the nightlife and then take you back home for a bath. Don't worry girl, I would scrub you down myself, yea, I know how you like it. Mhm and then once you were all clean I would take you to the strip and show those trashy japanese girls just how fast you really are. Would you like that baby? Oooooooohhh yeeeeaaaaa.

QFT.
IMO, 1960 to 1979 were truely THE years for vehicle manufacture. Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge and Pontiac all had incredible designers working back then. They knew how to draw up a car, oh yes.
Personally I lust over the '68 Charger R/T, but I've also had a very special place in my heart for the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS.
Infact, Chevy had it going ON back in the day - The Impala, El Camino, Camaro and Nova were all stunning vehicles. Even if the El Camino was essentially a Chevelle with a Pickup rear end, it still managed to look awesome.
Nowadays I'm driving a '96 Ford Mustang GT, it attempts to keep the muscle car vibe alive but in the end its just a poser. Then again, I'd rather be driving this '96 Pseudo-stang than what most people are driving around here. (Namely sub-compact cars that do a bajillion miles to the gallon.)
One day I'll own a real car.
And by that I mean - A car with no less than 5 litres of engine displacement, the road holding and handling of a hovercraft, the turning circle of an Interstate Freight Truck and the style to kill.

my "dream car" has to be old Dodge Charger. dang, I love it. I even checked some out but their maintenance and everything is just too expensive (at least here in easternish parts of europe)
but! car that can be bought here for sandwich money and driven to pieces is old soviet Lada Zhiguli, specifically 2101 version. Its really crap but being old rear-wheel drive without any bells and whistles, its good clean fun
XenoPagan having fun picture is taken just minutes before this car died (notice the rear axel, it is NOT supposed to move that way)
original Lada 2101 (googled pic)

They really were, I was looking at a ton of pictures and stuff the other day and I came to the conclusion that you can pretty much take ANY decent looking car from that time period and hey, spoilers, it looks awesome. Even the old buicks have that kind of totally awesome muscle car feel
I really cant stand any mustangs that aren't pre-1973 or post-2005, honestly. They all look so... generic, compared to the old ones. (don't mean to be taking the **** out of your car ofc, i don't really compare cars based on anything but appearance ) The newer ones are pretty nice though, maybe I'll look into getting one since they're a lot cheaper and easier to get your hands on then the one in the OP
Originally by: XenoPagan my "dream car" has to be old Dodge Charger. dang, I love it. I even checked some out but their maintenance and everything is just too expensive (at least here in easternish parts of europe)
Yep, take basically any car from back then, including this one and BAM! awesome

I was driving back from New York to Massachusetts with my girlfriend a while ago (was actually picking up a car) and we saw an Exige on the highway coming back. Nice lookin' car; if I had to describe it with a pithy statement it'd be: "Tries way to hard to be awesome, pulls it off anyway somehow."
I could never get one though because like most of the cool lookin cars these days it only has 2 seats, and what's the point of having a totally sweet car if you can't drive at least a *few* of your friends around in it? __________________________________

Turning is overrated, if you're not plowing through everything in your way you're not doing it right . I don't really understand people who are like "well my car is faster / turns tighter / blah blah," for the vast majority of everyday driving that won't really matter, so why bother stressing out over it? Land boats turn well enough to drive anyway.
Nice car though, audis are sexy; at the risk of sounding like a pretentious car***, it's like.. elegant, but not flashy. Something your friends will be like "whoa, cool car," but won't attract any special attention driving down the highway at 80mph the way a red vette will. __________________________________

Beautiful car indeed.
Now the reasonable priced car I would love to have would be this: Audi S5 This specific one is perfect too, maybe a little darker tint.
Now this is my dream car.

I'm currently stuck with my 94 Nissan pickup aka the mudpuppy and my 03 Jeep Sahara but where I live 4 wheel drive is kind of a necessity.
I agree though that anything from the late 60's to the mid/late 70's is just absolutely sexy by all accounts. Even the trucks had that hot rod look to them. There is a used car dealership that has a 68 camaro that I've been eye balling but right now I just can't afford a new car. What I really would like though is a 67 4 door impala with a hardtop that looks exactly like this one here.

the problem today is the affordable cars all pretty much fall into same exact catagory, they are all JAS(or Just another Sedan). that said i want a 1960s era Impala SS Convertable, and i have since before they where made popular by rappers.

oh man, the dream of owning a muscle car... Tbh before I got my drivers liecense I couldn't give a **** about cars, now i REALLLY REALLY want a muscle car lol..
1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 Surprised noone has mentioned the firebird Pontiac Firebird 1979 Mustang Shelby 1965 GT350 I actully dislike the "Ellinor" version. orig=best between the GT350 and GT500 it's a tie, these 2 are my favorites. Mustang Shelby 1967 GT500
they HAVE to haev a stick though, otherwise it ain't a real car(don't understand hows automatics are standard in usa :/)

As for a more realistic car to own i would go for what is probably one of the best looking Ferrari's ever made Testarossa, shear beauty
And ofcourse the very sexy... the very fast Bugatti Veyron

Hood pins bug me D: but aside from that, oooooooooh.
As for manual/automatic: Eh, lots of people don't know how to drive well already, and that's with automatics. making manuals standard would probably cause widespread havoc.
I don't know how to drive a stick , but for something like those, you better believe I'd learn __________________________________
