To be honest I can see where curse is comming from, the miners dont really contribute to the pvp side, so why shouldn't they in some other way. This way is through a 20% tax. It makes perfect sense that in times of war everyone has to do there bit to keep going. This will proberly get locked, just wanted to say my bit

this is true in times of war those who couldnt / wouldnt fight were asked to contribute to the production of weapons and equipment ect
sounds like common sense to me

At what point was CA not in a state of war? :P
Seriously, I can see a whole lot of reasons why this isn't going to work out as planned, but I guess for the mining and production corps in CA it all boils down to taking the heat or getting out of the kitchen. ________________________________________________

It would be understandable if the curse pvpers were actually in curse to provide protection in the way of patrols or blobbing but they arent, as they have said themselves, curse space is boring so they go somewhere else to have their fun.
Its kinda ponitless saying that the miners are now supplying the war effort if CA dont protect their supply lines.

Main difference is that in CA, they use industry to support their main business which is military.
The other alliances maintain military arm to support their main business which is industry.
Other alliances can't tax the miners because they ARE the miners, instead they force the miners to contribute forces to fight.
CA don't need forces from the miners, so they tax the miners for a cut.
Any way you slice it, the miners are forced to contribute something, either their time and equipment in fighting, or a cut of the ore.
In any case, this conversation is retarded and belongs on Oprah. Oh boo hoo CA is taxing me, tell all the fat suburban soccer moms to wear a pink ribbon for CA Oppression Awareness Month, maybe we'll get the local precint to send over their PR person to give a talk about miner r4pe-prevention.
There's a market out there, for ore and everything else. If you dont like the costs of doing business with CA, go somewhere else.
Here have a hanky.
My opinions are mine and no way related to my corp.

I think its a stupid idea. Most corps build an excess of mins then go PvP for a while until the min pile gets low. This just looks like an ebay scam to pay rent to me.

It seems the space CA claims is the worst place for a mining corp to settle.
there is constant threat of being killed by enemy corps, they need to provide their own protection and they need to pay 20% tax.

Edited by: BobGhengisKhan on 23/08/2004 13:59:01 Yeah, exactly, that's why this sort of thing was always argued against by most of the decent players in Curse, it would give people like Jabaa an excuse to come shrieking on TS about how we owe protection to the retards we voted to stay out of the alliance in the first place
We'd try and act friendly to them, even if they weren't really well liked, and we'd never have done something as ridiculous as making them pay for our ships when they're expected to protect themselves anyway
On our trips to Curse, it was mostly every corp for itself it seemed. We'd kill miners in HLW with an enormouse blob in VOL, just one jump away, who wouldn't even know about the attack til one of us got bored and laughed at them for it
I mean, I remember when even Bach and Scragg came on the forums with proof of 30 battleship kills over the period of a month, and most of us had only heard of 1 or 2 of them. There isn't enough intercommunication in the CA to make it possible for you to even protect the miners if you have promised (which I doubt was made anyway)

Would you guys stop talking and speculating just for the sake of it. Who says miners need to provide their own protection? Get informed first...

Edited by: BobGhengisKhan on 23/08/2004 14:01:02 That's the purpose of some of these questions, guy.
If a CA corp mines in a .3 system, are they still required to pay the tax? What if theyre refining a stack of one thousand 800mm cannons? Do they have to give a portion of that as well?
What are the penalties if any member is ever found keeping what he has earned?
(And to the mods, come on, if someone comes in and starts flaming, it makes more sense to ban the person doing the flaming than to let them go and lock the thread)
