I've been mulling over ways to catch insta jumping frigs/shuttles/pods (maybe even cruisers) and a thought occured to me: A BS with 8x Large Smartbombs sitting inside the gate. Should take out any frig in insta jump range instantly, plus pod them.
I'm sure this isn't a new idea so I'm looking for confirmation that it's effective. I'm no pirate so I could care less if I destroy the can.

I would hope such an idea would only be used in a war.
otherwise its just plain flat out greifing.
which, IMO should be worth getting banned. but unfortunately theres not really much of an objective way to define between "pirating" and greifing.
but I'm sure its only for use in wartime...

Yes, I am in SA, we are at war with CA. I also will kill people I don't like, that's not griefing, it's revenge for irritating me.

Works beutifully when you time it right. Feels good to pod the instajumpers who go "bye bye" in local while instajumping 
Cant see why it would be griefing. Its a way to stop instajumpers (especially frigs and pods which are otherwise unstoppable).

A mobile warp disruptor isnt 100% effective, more like 80%, little ones anyway. I can't see this not being effective. I almost always have time to *start* locking a ship that is using instas. If you have time to pick a ship out of the scanner and lock it then you have time to hit F1-F8. Also this is less of a pain than mobile warp disruptors. I've camped gates for hours before and my big guns and innovative setups don't do crap against your average insta jumper (90% of the people you see), this way I can kill them while holding a beer in my mouse hand... hell, I could be holding a beer inch each hand and just bang my head against the keyboard and still win.
Winning is important.

yeah, it works. a little too well if you ask me 
a corpmate of mine who prides himself on never being podded jumped into a .4 system in a rifter, before the screen even loaded he was dead (not just de-shipped but podded too, waking up in a cloning station)
such tactics, while valid are well......lame.

Not to point out an obvious fact...but... Gates don't like being attacked, and smart-bombing while in a gate is also going to hurt the gate. I've seen gates attack, and while I'm sure you can tank the damage, I'm just surprised that no one has mentioned this fact.
