Noticed that if you look at price history say 3 months back, many meta-4 modules have a hockeystick pattern with a dive recently and alot of trading preceding this dive. I don't market pvp myself, but if anyone knowlegable has any information about this it would be greatly appreciated. just curious, its interesting

as far as i understand meta1-4 stuff got kick after Noctis born. More people started to loot and salvage mission wrecks.
what could happen in last 3 months? Maybe new missions with new loot tables which made meta 4 stuff drop more often? |

My guess would be that just more people started to loot their wrecks after the drone changes were confirmed. More meta4 stuff is just actually making it to the market now.

Playerbase doesent actually grow with new players .. only new alts. Those get trained very fast to use vastly cheaper and effective t2 tank.
In short .. people dont need meta-4 tank mods as much. Combined with more supply the same time from noctis hordes. |

Since the meta 0 drops have stopped in lvl IV missions I think there are more meta 3 and 4 drops now. Probably just a case of more supply than of old.
I mission quite often and it feels like more of these drop. Hard to tell though. |

All they did was change every meta0 with scrap metal. You only think there are more 3 and 4 drops because you notice them more, since the meta0 are gone.

The meta 4's i'm trading are increasing in price. so i'm not sure what to tell you. As been said, they don't drop more. plus i doubt there are more people running missions than old days. *maybe* because some left incursions and started doing missions instead, just maybe. can't really know for sure. |

One of the causes first is maybe some players finally understood how to calculate real value of those items (perfect refining with metal scrap 4/5) and also because of drone poo gone. I always found funny to buy large bombs and 1600 plates at 5 to 10x cheaper than their real value in minerals (not always meta 4 OC). |

The only real drop in Meta-4 mods I'm seeing is with weapon systems. I presumed that was a direct effect of the "supposed" increase in the drop rate for such items from mission rats precipitated by the removal of Meta-0 dropthese items s.
I'm stockpiling now in the hopes that the drop rates are adjusted again. |

CCP said they were not replacing meta 0 drops with higher meta, just scrap. In fact thats why we got the scrap. The loot tables work by having a chance of a drop, then a table giving the relative chance for each item type dropping. Just getting rid of meta 0 would have increased the drop rate of everything else. CCP had to replace the meta 0 drops with something else to keep that from happening.
But they did release some more types of plexes. Could the drops from those be the source of new supply? http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

1. Some one was manipulating it and either decided to take a break and just play the game or go find a girlfriend.
2. Rumor has it that Meta 4 drops have increased by about 30%, Perhaps this might be the reason.
3. The news for this patch was suposto make allot of stuff easier to train for, Mainly ships but there where also rumors this could have spiderwebbed into Tech 2 fittings, as the T2 fittings soared in price, I did completely ignore the Meta 4 items.. well except my inexcusable Hoarding of certain items I randomly mess around with time to time.

T2 were made better than most Meta 4 quite some time ago. They still have use in making T2 copies but if it's a dive in recent times, I'd speculate and say: - someone got out of invention or - stopped stacking them for that mythical day they become more valuable.
I had old habits of hoarding certain items as well. I am slowly learning, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck. In the case of EVE that means if it looks like junk loot, chances are it's junk loot. It was fun for a while though |

I reckon its because CCP has changed the naming of the modules. It spoon feeds people to realise that the items are actually meta 4 and therefore, perhaps worth selling on a market rather then refining.
I dont know, its a pretty weak argument. Its not that hard to sort loot by meta level, but as someone said to me once "In Eve, always bet on stupid" |

Large part due to the Noctis.
With Escalation coming in, more scrap metal will be found, which means more people will probably sell their loot instead of just bulk-refining everything they salvaged, since Meta 1-4 will stand out far more than before. With the changes to Vanguard sites there should also be a small migration back to Level 4 missions by people which will increase the supply. |

I have also noticed an increase in the amount of meta 4 weapons on the market, and a coincidental drop in prices. However, the alteration of the loot tables was as indicated by others, only to replace meta 0 with scraps. So... perhaps some people just reacting by gut and dumping? idk "How do you kill that which has no life?" |

I was actually under the impression that drop rates for Meta 1 through 4 were increased. Could be wrong here, but I am DEFINITELY getting more of those mods than I ever did before. |

I noticed that too (the increase of these item turnover in terms of quantity).
Means one of two things either ccp lied to us about the drops not increasing (the horror) or people have taken to liquidating major amount of stocks.
That said I am seeing many instances of people trying to plug the drop by putting up huge buy orders above the other buy orders. I'm assuing that these buy orders are margin scams wihtout the minimum buy order. |

Could be some truth to that. Given that the Jita event has been winding down since last week - and is basically over now - people are VERY likely selling all the crap they've been too scared to go to Jita to sell.
Otherwise...yes...drop rates increased. There's no other explanation for such a rapid and sudden increase that has remained consistent for 2-3 weeks. |

I salvage in a noctis and I realize that yes the amount of loot that drop has lessened, and yes meta-0 items are now mainly metal scraps.
I do not see a great increase in the amount of meta 1-4 loot that dropped.
A n example, L4 "Gone Berserk" full salvage used to have around 2000-3000m^3 of stuff to loot, after the removal of meta 0 , it has dropped to around 300m^3(Mainly because cap booster charges no longer drop. thankfully). Note that Gone Berserk is a mission against mercenaries, meaning every wreck has loot. I seem to only pick up a lot of amno/metal scraps. An average of 20-25 modules will drop. mostly meta 1-3 . I would only see 1-2 meta 4 items drop and usually its something that is not worth going to the market to sell , such as meta 4 reinforced bulkheads
My hypothesis is, loot used to be in so much abundance, it was quite tedious to sort through . People might just refine it all into minerals and sell it. Also , there used to be so much crap modules dropping (not very good mineral:space ratio I.E. Miner I modules) Noctises(how do you plural a Noctis lol , Noctiss/Noctises) have to drop the loot at a station every 2-3 l4 missions. hauling it to a tradehub would be troublesome too if the player is just a mission runner/salvage alt. Imagine having to right click sell, each and every item for over 200 items, and checking if it was worth it to just refine or sell to players.
After the patch, you no longer get huge amounts of modules that you have to sift through to find out whether if it is worth it to sell or to refine it. People can keep their noctis running behind my mission runner for more than 5 missions without docking to drop off stuff. Not so tedious to dualbox a noctis and a mission runner now. The stuff that drop now have better Mineral:Volume Ratio (No more lol "cap booster charges 800") Also , due to the drop in loot amount my guess is that people become more cautious of what they refine, they use to make at least 1.5times in minerals(I know I do) , Shrinking profit margins make people a little more
Thus, the volume of collected loot are now smaller, people can just haul them to tradehubs when they need to trade w/o the need of carrying large amounts of goods/minerals. Thus more people sell off their meta 4 loot than to refine them along with the rest of the stuff by.

It's not screwing up if done intentionally. Clearly CCP wanted to compensate slightly for the m0 drop changes. I do agree that i dont think player behavior has changes, my guess 90% of M4 were sold before and after. So this amount of volume increase can only mean the droprates have increased.
Bad for traders ofcourse, i used to trade quite a bit in M4 in the days. Especially regionwide buys made me quite a bit of isk (with a lot of work though). |

simple as looking at the size of the cargo hold of your average mission runner...
they used to fill it up with meta0 items and would leave plenty of unlooted wrecks on the field (remember mission runners are in it for speed and bounties and picking up what they can, not optimizing every m3 of space).
no meta0 = more room for the other items.
no change in drop rates, just more meta items making it to the market. gonna crash, hard.

It already has. Some items are down to a fraction of their former value.
BTW, I suspect the same (+ incursion runners going back to doing missions), but it still seems like kind of a big crash.

For several months now it has been cheaper, far and away to fit Meta 4 over T2.
A mega Pulse Meta 0 costs1.2 mill T2 Mega pulse is 4.5 mill
Meta 4 Mega Modulated cost 930K to buy and there is no shortage of them. Conflag and Navy Multifreq both have 50% range penalty. Conflag has a .7 tracking penalty, Navy does not.
30.8 EM/ Therm 55.4 and 32.3 Shield and armor base on the conflag and
32.2 em, 23 therm with 50.6 and 27.8 on the Navy. For the low damage multipliers of Amarr, the dps loss is compensated for with the additional tracking. The point being, once people start to put the math to paper we will see alot more loot fits on the field.
The only exception will be blaster fits because T2 Blaster ammo has 25% range penalty where Navy antimatter has 50%. |

Yes lets ignore that T2 do more damage and that the long range t2 ammo is really sweet in many cases, (barrage and scorch are just pure win). And of course since you dont have to use the t2 ammo.. i dont see why we would ever use meta 4 over t2 if we can use t2.

Not all T2 are weapons. And it's not uncommon for pilots to drop a T2 module for a Meta-4 because of the much lower fitting requirements. even if the drop rates are fixed, ALL of the merchants are so scared into buying into any meta 4 item right now, simply because there are no safety nets (low and high price caps in place)
The volatility is extreme, thus the risk of ISK loss is much larger then chance for ISK gain over consistent trade periods.
I suspect, at-least hope CCP is allowing this as a temporary change to help the Pirate population with cheaper stuff to gank miners with (hulkageddon), If this isn't part of CCP's plan then I think we, as merchants have some very big problems to look forward to as the trajectory leads to irresponsible planing over the entire spectrum of the resalable items.
For now, Im seeing this as a very solid plan, so far its playing out well for the Pirates, miners and low/nulsec populations.
On a side note, I have strong reason to believe this is something CCP is cooking up because some large improvements where made to the market system very recently, leading me to believe CCP isnt abandoning us the merchants, thus this leads me to suspect of a bigger picture type of plan from CCP.
Stay tuned folks, I feel this is going to be a very entertaining ride. |

The crash is going on "unseen" since the last big patch time or so.
I have checked some "known good" items that should show some liquidity. Click on "Max days ago 360" and "Week".
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Prototype 'Arbalest' Heavy Assault Missile Launcher I
Prototype 'Arbalest' Torpedo Launcher
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Here is a Meta 3 too:
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
As you can see, the meta 4 behavior is quite similar and any traders station trading those items are basically going counter trend. That is they are buying from buy orders at low price to flip on sell orders but with a falling knife going against them.
Look at example at the Faint Epsilon scrambler (remember to set to weekly view): it's trivial to see how it made a double top (the two big red pin bars in the last weeks) which of course has a target of said double top replicated below.
But don't be fooled by the "bottomed" two last candles that are actually two buyers reactions to try hold price up. Price is still due to fall against their face until they manage to setup a double bottom (M formation = bearish double top, flipped W formation = bullish double bottom) or an inversion pin bar (it HAS to be large and we have small ones ATM).

Meta4s are region buys, ie if you are freighter trader, rather than a station flipper there iis still ample margin to make them safe trades - to be honest there is often 40% in just landing them in Jita and selling to buy orders, and plenty of buy volume to absorb you on landing.
I agree they are doomed to approach mineral value unless the drop rate is sorted out though. |

I first noticed the drop on the meta 3+4 Tracking Disruptors. i wrote it down to manipulation since those items might be up for a significant boost, but I guess the real reason is a combination of what you all said. |

The crash is going on "unseen" since the last big patch time or so. I have checked some "known good" items that should show some liquidity. That is they are buying from buy orders at low price to flip on sell orders but with a falling knife going against them.
Or lets just ignore that I wrote down all the dps values for conflags and compared them to Navy? Still, you are 101% correct. Meta 4 sucks, reproc them all. They fail. Only losers fail fit Meta 4. Happy now? |

Still not flatlining, still dropping. How do I figure out the mineral value on the meta items? Sorry if it is obvious, I have no skill in reprocessing and have never bothered with it before. I just want to know when these things hit the floor. |

The volume of some dropped modules has definitely increased, just look at the graphs.
I'm thinking there has been a snafu swapping some loot tables to scrap metal . |

In short .. people dont need meta-4 tank mods as much. Combined with more supply the same time from noctis hordes.
I use meta-4 all the time in invention jobs. |

Thank you, that worked. There is a long long long long long long way to the floor. Long way. Long.

Meta 4 at mineral prices? That would be interesting from a 'I want to pvp as cheap as possible'-point of view.... :P |

T2 is not that expensive though, what mostly keeps me from casually throwing away ships is not the cost, but the time it takes to put a new one together. It's that shameful ride to the nearest hub. Feels like wearing only underpants at a job interview.
I do hope the prices will pick up again, I know some of those markets were rather busy and I image a lot of people will have an interest in these modules not being sold as were they scrap metal.
Any of you arbitrage meisters have any thoughts on how this will end? And please, don't link that long-arse thread again. I think I lost a quarter of my left brain hemisphere reading the first page. |

Where it will end up? Can't give you an exact price point but I don't think we are going to reach mineral value on most items. |

I mean, can we expect the price to go back up where it was, or will it remain low?
I'm asking because I'm sitting here, crying like a babe in arms, on the top of a pile of meta 4 mods. I have to wear a damn pressure suit up here.

Last time they screwed up (some meta AB or MWD's) they never fixed it so I would not hold my breath. |
