This is an idea that CCP should do and this could be the greatest sci-fi action packed movie around.
About EVE - ONLINE
I think that CCP have a lot of talented people who would have the time and effort to make a full blown movie for the big screen and involve the eve community to take part to be in a movie.
I would like to ask the EVE community if this idea would work, and if it does would CCP get things together and start making the movie.
There have been movie made from games and games from movies.
e.g. Like the movie Madagascar there is a movie and a game.
Ice Age is also a movie and a game. And so on and so on.
Why not do a movie from a Great Game like EVE and turn it into a full blown movie that runs for say like 2 hours.
I hope people like this idea.

hm there are plenty of topics the movie could be based on, but a film is a seriously large undertaking and out of a game developers league.
They would have to give it to hollywood, who would **** on it to no end. Think Max Payne and Blood Rayne.
Edit: and your examples of films is bad. Both of those are really comical films which were made into childrens games. This is game becoming a film instead, and a serious game with an audience which will want it done right.

don't get me wrong, I support your idea, but it's ment to fail.
Games are games and should stick to games and not switch to the big white screen.

StarWars is one of those Movies and Star Trek is another that were quite succesfull. And there could be list of other ones as well. CCP have the tools and the means to make a Movie thats even if the movie comes out on a DVD instead of the big screen. The possibilites are endless.And I hope CCP agree with what i am saying.We should think outside of the square box and let things happen.

Movies becoming games and Games becoming movies are two radically different things.
Think Max Payne, Blood Rayne, Hitman.

I like SciFi novels and games but somehow movies come accross all cheesey and wrong. The original StarWars and Battlestar Galactica are pretty good but that's about it imho.

An EVE movie would not be sufficient for the vastness of the EVE universe. A series of closed story episodes with maybe one or more ongoing meta-arcs in the background would be more sufficient.
And I'd like more short clips for the Chronicles.
And more news clips.

take all the star wars movies, cut out everything tha tisnt space battle, replace all talking with "LOL, NOOB, YOU SUCK, 1V1 MY ASS, YOU SUCK IM POSTING THIS IN C&P" you get the general idea

There's too many details about Eve to fit in a movie. Between the backstory, the different pirate factions, history behind the four (or five if you include Jove) races, etc...It's just too much. And I'm sure a lot of people, myself included, wouldn't be satisfied unless it was all covered.
Now...if it was stretched into multiple movies...it could have potential. But that's expensive and pretty risky.

Well, I'm not so sure about the game itself but perhaps Tony Gonzales' book Eve Empyrean Age could be adapted for the screen. And what about casting?

I think that I'd hate this, to be honest. Film adaptations are almost to a man completely horrible. It's just the fact that directors take so many liberties with their productions.
Our luck, EvE would turn into a complete sham of what it really is, all nice and pretty and serene. I don't think I'd like to risk that ...

CCP should be doing that movie/series themselves, using their own engines for videos and ambulation to make it completely in CGI. Then they only need good voice actors, who are probably easier to come by than good screen actors.

The live action footage from Halo movie looked pretty badass, just got too expensive. DOOM was also made into a movie, even though it varied from game history.
With the right people, EVE could be made into a pretty decent movie. I think it would be cool to have a film set just before the eve gate dies and we get to see it happen and watch everyone get cut off from earth.

Those are the problems I'm talking about. Doom was a horrid movie, not so much in the acting (which I thought was bad), but in the fact that it had to have it's backstory changed in order to make it PC.
Can you imagine how Amarr would be presented in a movie? Oh, boy ... imagine the upset that would rise from both christian and islamic groups?
Minmatar? Yeah, that'll fly well with the special interest groups still stuck on the African Slave trade. Or am I the only one to notice the predominately brown skintone and tribal nature of the former slave Matari?
We have political characterizations of Caldari against the largely capitalistic nations like the US and Japan, turning the entire doctrine into the purest form of cold greed. And Gallente ...
It's just that, unless this movie is pure indy (and more than a little bit droll), it's not going to be EvE. It'll be a very bad directors idea of what EvE should be.

Please for the love of all that is holy, CCP if Uwe Boll googles his own name (like he already does) and finds this thread because of his name being mentioned...DO NOT GIVE HIM A DEAL!!!
Anyway, if every aspect of the movie was done by CCP I could see it become the most epic SciFi movie of all time. Some of the older EVE trailers give me the chills and make me excited as hell as the story unfolds.

i have posted the same idea many times... the problem would be to make manus wich would really have the elements of eve and have some glorious fights etc... if it where to me we would see more than one movie planned... say, starting from when the wormhole into the world of eve is found and the exploration of new eden... it should end with when the wormhole closes.. the sequel then would have the great batlles wars etc... then the next would be one where various corps conqur space and try to hold it.. ingame corpses should be in it. the 4 should represent present time...
all this with a COOL mix with real isues from ingame. and never forget the joves.. the joves is very damn much needed in this movie!!!!
the sleepers would also be in the movie nr 4...
ALOT of cool ideas... and if the script is made propperly it could be a new star wars.. but NEVER make it low budget like wing commander or **** like that!!! use propper actors and such.. hell get lucas in on the idea! im sure he would like the idea, of a real comunity like eves player base made into movie! its not all that stupid!

If EVE is too detailed to be put into a film, why not make the novel into a film? At least that way there is a plot, characters emotions and things we can expect to see, just in awesome graphcis and sci-fi glory =D
I read the eve novel and really enjoyed it, although the ending would mean tehre would have to be a second film >.>

on the movie idea. think about way Sin City was done. several short stories similar to Chronicles. maybe one per fraction. that would allow it to cover large area without cramming too much into one thread.
