Prior the the nano nerf other ceptors were able to deal with the Taranis and it's Warrior II drones with speed. Now that the speed has been reduce to ceptors this has clearly given the Taranis the edge above all other ceptors to the point of requiring a nerf. Only a ceptor pilot with a full Snake set has any hope of outrunning these drones these days. Prior to the nerf a modestly fit ceptor was able to deal with them.

Technically it makes sense in that no other ceptor has a drone bay, but the Ares and the Ranis only have 3 high points for guns. Give them a 4th high for guns or something and maybe it is a valid argument. That being said it gives the Ranis the ability to use EWAR drones so it does have a level of flexibility that the other ones do not have. 5mbit bay would seem to make more sense, but thats just me.

Uh, no blasteranis with any sense should roll with anything else than hobbie II's... To apply the rest of its dps it needs to web and scram its target anyway, so warrior II speed is a non-issue. the dps of 2 light drones won't help the ranis if it is orbited by a very fast ceptor that it cannot get a scram on. (In my experiences, the other ceptor pilot has to be AWESOME and fly with snakes for this to be even remotely possible... Or the Ranis pilot has to suck pretty bad.)
Prior to the nano nerf the blasteranis could cleverly web most other ceptors just like it can now web and scram them but back then speed differences were bigger so other superpimp ceptors stood a better chance. On the other hand a competently fitted blasteranis has lost its ability to do initial tackles at all due to its laughable point range, consider this if you want to nerf the ranis. Actually, that would need to change IMO... There should be a way to reverse the web/ scram/ mwd situation so that blaster boats can have a 24km point again! |

Shoot the drones while taranis pounding you with its only 3 weapons for extreme damage even better DPS then some AFs. As we all know that legendary DPS is coming from that 2 drones only.
Or we can use ECM Burst.. yeah .. cant we |

you coming here and complaining about the 'ranis drones is like complaining about... well, the 'ranis drones
surely you didn't die to the 3 double-damage bonused blasters, but actually you died due to the puny damage that 2 light drones pack.
anyways, the 'ranis has a dronebay due to a single fact: it is the slowest interceptor. |

actually, packing T2 warriors instead of T2 goblins has some sense, as in while you do less DPS overall, it is compensated with the fact that T2 warriors track better, and make available a new type of damage to the 'ranis (explosive), together with the fact that they actually move arround faster and not just mwd'ing-arround faster, they actually have better cruise speed. |

The EXP damage argument is valid but personally I don't worry about that... But IMO the cruise speed shouldn't matter, most of your targets are slowed down enough by web+scram, or am I missing something? ---

Maybe its just me but my 2x light drones dont last me to many fights while i am roaming.
I loose them to other drones, to small ships shooting them and to warp outs where i dont have time to wait on my drones.
So i head out with 2x hobo II's and rarely come home with 2x hobo II's for the most part drones on the taranis dont actually do that much if i can get drones on you odds are i can get blasters on you so my drones really contribute nothing compared to my blasters. If i cant get blasters on you then who really cares what my drones do as you should roast me long before they kill you. Only thing i really find the drones handy for is larger targets where a slight bit more dps can help, or to sick on larger taregets drones.

I stand corrected, in that he had luck and that the neutpuni does zilch for DPS. It can be tricky if you don't spot the neut in time though... Ofc the railranis wouldn't have a problem with the neut punisher, I'm guessing neutron blasteranis could kill it eventually with null and drones as well. |

Most ceptors are way out-buffer-tanked by a Taranis boosting just a damage control, and out-ganked by it even without drones. Shooting it's drones down is not wise should you get scrammed by it - and that IMHO stands >90% of the typical engagements where the opposer has even the slightest chance to win.
The Taranis very-very rarely is flown solo without scram / web combo, and once you are webbed/scrammed by it, it will get in range of it's guns pretty fast to shred other laughably tanked ceptors. That's also the reason Warriors are not needed. Scrammed/webbed frigates are tracked perfectly by all light drone types, and since most ceptors boost low resistances, the Hobgoblins' superior DPS easily catches up.
The drones could make a difference against other fast frigates that would also scram/web the ranis, and would try to keep their distance away from it's guns...doable, yet rare...
Still I do believe the ranis is by far the most powerful solo-ceptor, boosting attributes-performance that other races need to employ AFs for. Yes, 2x drones could be |

I have no real experience flying intereptors on TQ. But I fitted up a rocket Crow on Sisi and fought a couple of blaster Taranisesei there. Both were easy kills - because they couldn't get within their pathetic optimals when webbed and scrambled. Rail-ranis... now that would be different... |

Give it a special 5m3/5mb type Webifier drones :D Sorta like the SW-900 drones, just SW-300.

Yeah, QR really ****ed up this game with the scram changes. Fortunately you would have died a pitiful death to either the railranis OR an MWD+AB ranis... |

Not all inties are made for raw tackling, leave the Ares for this purpose thanks to its bonus, the Taranis is a combat inty and is Gallente so it doesn't sound unfair to me the ship is getting 10 m3 dronebay provided it only has 3 turrets points as other people pointed out.
Shoot the drones if can't outrun them, they¦re just lights and will pop in seconds. I hardly keep my drones alive as people understand my dps gets crippled by taking them out.
Edit: And yeah let's make all inties going the same speed, same range and same dps so everybody is happy .

you do realize the POINT of the speed nerf was to make it so that drones could hit their equivalent counterparts right? One of the reasons speed was considered broken was because nothing could hit ceptors.
And besides that have you see how f***ing slow the ranis is? With an OD and mwd you can break 4k, all the others START at 4k. Now go away.
