Hi there, I'm a new player to EVE from the UK. I'm also currently waiting for a Canadian Visa to come through so I can move there with my Canadian wife.
Is moving to another country going to be a problem for playing EVE? I know there will be some time between the move when I wont have PC/net access and I plan to suspend my account for a month or so to cover this. once I'm there will I be able to update my subscription details without any problems? Has anyone had any experience of this?
Thanks

Shoulden't be any problem. Only issue you should encounter is the time difference. You probably wont be playing when you UK friends are playing anymore.
Otherwise ... should be fine.
Oh and you get the bonus of paying for EVE in USD, which ends up cheaper than paying for it in UK pounds :)
Welcome to Canada btw. Its a cool country. (yes I live there, so yeah biased )

Since the 2006 Montreal Security Summit, Icelandic companies have had the assets removed and are no longer allowed to trade in Canada. Thus accessing CCP (an Icelandic company)'s servers (even if they reside in the UK) will be an offense. No more eve for you I guess.

You'll have some serious problems. Canada is a backward 3rd world country. The inhabitants fear electricity and worship pigs. Internet access is via telegraph lines that are often torn down by drunken moose.

Aslong as you, and only you, know your account details it's perfectly fine being left inactive.
the only things that can possibly go wrong are;
1) you're the CEO of a corp, because your account is inactive it's possible for other members to petition and gain control of the corp, and by extension steal everything or kick you out.
2) if you've been keylogged you could return months from now to find yourself sitting in a pod with zero assets and zero liquid isk. I'm not sure if it's true but i've heard of them pod killing you over and over again when you finally come back. It's also possible that they'll just sell it for real world money.
So just make sure your computers been secure and such which as a responsible computer user i'm sure you'll have done. ----------------------

Note that you will need an actual Canadian credit card to start paying in USD. Paying through a British credit card while acessing the Internet in Canada will be the same as using that card from the UK.

Canadian here wishing to apologize for the other two who didn't get the joke.
Also, Good luck getting online. Our fiber-optic cables are made of ice and a moose runs the electrical grid for the eastern half of the country. I believe they use three doped up beavers in BC for the other half...
Welcome to Canada!

Welcome.
P.S. Its only your payment method that matters, as long as you have a vaid payment method set up when its time for your subscription to charge then you are fine. Don't susped you account, just set a long skill to train --

First, welcome to Canada(When you get here). There are quite of a few of us Canuks playing EVE. Most people never notice, unless we're natives of Quebec.
My question is, why leave your account inactive. Pay it up so it'll keep going while you're in transit, and set a long skill. Get one of those pesky lvl 5's out of the way.

Haha thanks for all the helpful posts (and not so helpful posts - they did make me laugh). I'll defiantly keep my account running with a few long skills training.
I'll be moving to the Toronto/GTA area if there are any social EVE-er events let me know in-game as I will be arriving totally fresh off the boat only knowing my wifes family and friends

This information is now out dated. We have since overcome the moose problem by doing our internet by carrier pidgeon. How ever outages are still known to happen when the pidgeon's cross over to the US and get shot by gun weilding rednecks ;). Our own rednecks are too drunk to hit the small birds.
