EVE is 9 years old. It is a mature project that is late in the life cycle, so it is surprising that no accessibility features have been added.
While UI scaling has helped a bit, there are still no options to play EVE in a minimalistic, text oriented, mode. This mode already exists, it is called the thin client and is used by CCP to mass test without wasting computing time on rendering. With some adjustments the thin client could be made compatible with devices such as Braille displays and text to speech systems.
CCP has written EVE in such a way that is is completely incompatible with Braille displays. EVE lacks any sort of color blind mode and has no high contrast mode. Finally, EVE is moving away from text and towards lots of icons which make it even more difficult for visually impaired people to play.
Instead of fixing these problems CCP has been adding additional graphical updates such as the new missile effects, as if they do not consider accessibility to be a priority. This begs a very simple question: CCP, why u no like blind people?

Not wanting to troll but Accessible interfaces are great, I fully support them and indeed have developed them, the other side of this is ... automation.. screen readers etc, UIAutomation, IAccessible etc all make it easier to AUTOMATE, and thus, botting.
Not saying this should prevent it, automation can be prevented by pattern analysis and those that require accessible interfaces can and should notify CCP and thus not be falsley reported for automating / botting, given an exception to the rule for obvious reasons but this kind of interface would be exploited by cheaters. Not saying you cheat, just putting it out there of the other side of the coin with accessible interafaces, but I belive that can be managed easily with common sense on CCP's part and indeed not with a technical solution to prevent automation.
This is why they removed the "letterbox" mode. It was being exploited by botters, once it is possible to construct or get accesible to a logical model of the interface, its ripe for exploitation. |

Not at all, I am saying, it will be exploited by botters. I also said, it is manageable.
This isnt just an Eve issue, it is a gaming industry wide issue, makign games accessible to all. And it will also be exploited by cheaters.
