Suggestion from over here http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1087139
Originally by: Kaivos Implement this to all buttons which open other windows.
Click the button window opens. Click it second time that window closes.
For example I open the Market windows by mistake. It's much faster to just click the button second time to dismiss the window that find the tiny x in the market window corner.
And how about bigger X button for window closing?

Bookmarks should simply be linkable in chat/notes/mails, and saveable from there. Current bookmark exchange mechanics involves some very counterintuitive black magic.

When the log in server is busy you get a message saying you are #x in queue. Hitting connect again before it's your turn gets a message that you are still connecting (whether the bar is showing or not). The problem is that you aren't. There is no indicator that you have moved to the top of the queue and it's your turn to log on. You just have to keep hitting connect until the server accepts you. A notification or automatic logon when it's your turn would be nice.
I still want a button on the reprocessing screen that will ignore ships.

Horizontal Scroll Bars on tables. Honestly... why do tables not have horizontal scroll bars? Tables are the most extensively used UI element in EVE and almost all tables are by far wider than the default window size! Being able to horizontally scroll tables would make it possible to not have all windows larger than needed, just because one ot of ten tabs has a huge table.
This is a major UI design flaw that should not have existed in the first palce. (QA, anyone?)

Being able to right-click the stack of modules and choose "fit the whole stack" would be nice (instead of fitting stuff one by one) - especially for fitting guns.

Edited by: WarDecEvading NPCCorpAlt on 02/06/2009 15:00:27 Oh God how about going over the horrible corporation interface?
- Expired corp orders stop showing under corp orders, but it doesn't release escrow until the person who placed the order cancels it. - Take a guess how you apply to an alliance. If you said "search for it, right-click the result, and apply", you're wrong. The correct and only place to apply to an alliance is via the RANKINGS tab. - Corp market orders are under Market, corp wallet is under Wallet, but corp assets aren't under Assets (they're under Corporation). - Only the CEO can rename divisions. - It's possible to sell things from your hangar on behalf of the corp, but not possible to contract them on behalf of the corp unless they're in a corp hangar or delivery bay. - It's possible to accept corp contracts you issued to someone else on behalf of the corp (wtf?) but not possible to accept contracts you issued to the corp on behalf of the corp to move to the delivery bay. Why would you want to move things to the delivery bay? See previous point. - Items occasionally don't deliver to stations that none of your corp members have ever been to, preventing them from being contracted back out or sold. - Some slot types (i.e. copying) can't be set to alliance access. |

How about expanding Show Effects into: - Show Omnidirectional Effects (smartbombs, doomsdays, ECM burst) - Show Projected Effects (cap transfer, neut, nos, reps) - Show Other Effects (sensor booster, tracking enhancer)
... so I can turn that pointless annoying sensor booster glow off without missing the fact that someone launched a 250km radius 77,000-damage bomb?
Oh yeah, and corp management stuff:
- Expired corp orders should release escrow immediately, not when the person that posted the order decides to cancel it. If not, then they should at least stay visible under corp orders.
- Alliances should be able to be applied to via search results, not just via the RANKINGS tab.
- Copying slots should be able to be set to alliance access.
Great ideas

Show Which Module is Active on Which Target!
When you hover over an active module on your module rack (be it a Mining Laser, Gun, or whatever), make it so that it indicates which targeted item it is currently active on. This could be done by producing some sort of glow behind the targeted item, by highlighting the edges, or whatever would make it obvious that it is the target that the highlighted module is active on.
This would be extremely useful for miners, as it would make it possible to keep track of which strip miner is on which rock, so that you know when to de-activate your laser so that you don't lose a cycle
I'm sure it would be useful for other people as well, but this is something that has seemed obvious to me since I started playing (and mining) and I have wondered why, to this date, it hasn't been implemented. |

I don't see why this has to be implemented, because if you want to make a quick bm all you have to do is hit the enter button right after you press add bookmark. This is a minor inconvenience that only has use when you are bm'ing a safe spot.
However, what they could do, is make it a toggle-able option in the Esc. menu to turn those confirmation windows on and off for those who want it that way.

Originally by: Icennie This is a real easy change.
In space, you can right click on your ship and 'show info' & it shows what modules are fitted. When you are in a station, however, you need to get into the ship to see what its fitting is - with all the hassle of the 30 second session timer.
Just change the system so you can right click on ships in your station hangar and see what modules are fitted from the 'show info' option...

when making safe spot or similar i dont want go through a procedure that takes 5 times longer as it should IMHO.
i know this may only be a minor nuisance for most people but i would consider this a nice improvement.
also think of a situation where you are being hunt by enemy forces in a system you have no BMs. you barely are able to escape from the gate warping to a planet. at that point it could save your life to be able to insta-create a bookmark in midwarp, because if you didnt happen to have initialized your p&p panel yet it might take too long to do so before getting out of warp.
i hope you understand what i mean. if nobody else feels that way then i'll trash that idea...
edit:
of course this feature needs to be spam safe so goons for instance couldnt exploit it to create server lag, i know they would :D |

Ooooh do you mean being able to make a safe spot without needing to open up the P&P tab? I thought you were only referring to the single confirmation window that pops up when you press "add bookmark", which can be instantly put away by hitting enter.
So, if you are referring to being able to remotely make a bookmark (by right clicking or w/e), then I am in complete favor of this idea

I highlighted the reason why this is not a blatantly obvious feature, but one which would have a game changing effect. So although I would love to see it implemented, this thread is not the right place to suggest it. |

I'm coming from WoW and damn this is like going back to the stone age. How on earth the UI can still be as under-developed as it was 2 years ago when I last tried Eve?
1) Is it too much to ask that the UI would not randomly explode even when I have windows pinned and I open some random window/dock/something? 2) Seriously, it is only possible to bind F1-F12? Maybe I could for example press enter when I want to write something? 3) Speaking of chat...<3 ISK spammers. WTB chat filtering by words. 4) Looting...*sigh* I don't want to find this damn Open Cargo button every time and drag the items to my cargo hold. 5) Pfft cargo hold... Oh why does it have the same window dimensions than the items&ships window in the stations? 6) YAY LETS USE THIS EXTREMELY HARD-TO-RECOGNISE FONT WITHOUT A POSSIBILITY TO INCREASE ITS SIZE TO REASONABLE 7) A proper combat log and scrolling combat text. If I've understand correctly the killboards are rather buggy and it would help a noob to understand what's actually going on. 8) Buffs and debuffs, mission objectives tracker, finding agents, overall sluggishness... 9) OR just make it possible to have addons like in WoW. Wouldn't it be great to have an UI that's 100% customised to your preferences?
Someone could think that after 6 years atleast the UI would be usable but... I suppose I could try this again in a couple of years to see if something has actually changed/fixed. Currently this feels like I'm trying to cut my wrists with a freaking spoon... A plastic one.

No focus stealing windows! Or at least fewer
Don't you just hate those windows that won't allow you to click on anything else while they are open? Very common in the S&I interfaces( which need some major love in more ways than this, but i'm not holding my breath). |

If I open a ship wreck to loot it and make it stack with another window then please,
make any future ship wrecks that I open also stack with that same window!
There's no reason that every time I open a wreck the window pops up at a completely random position on my screen and when it closes again it somehow manages to drag the rest of my UI into completely horrible new positions! |

Allow mutliples of the same sound to be stacked (If you have sound on and a POS is being shield repped, it laggs the client really badly).
Might be why sound causes such an FPS drop. The sound quality might improve as well since you wouldn't get the staticy feedback effect from identical sounds fighting for channels.
Long-range icons for fleet/gang members.
Basically so you can see where the other pilots are in space without having to actually be on grid. Would help alot for aligning to players (for SS's etc) Maybe similar to the regular icon but with a <----> sortof display above/around it to show that the icon represents a gang member off grid.
Shield graphics for hits
If you've ever played Nexus: The Jupiter Incident then you know why I'd love to see this in eve.
Missing shots
When a shot misses or a missile is out of rangem you still get the hit graphic/sound dead center, would add to the immersion to actually show the shots missing, or at least just not show them hitting (no graphic).
