Edited by: Sword Knight on 02/05/2009 10:24:17 Currently running my second lvl4 mission in a 0.9 system someone warps in and starts stealing my hard earned loot... so I expect concord to come on and sort this person out... it is high sec after all but no instead my drones are aggroed by him and they attack, now I am locked in a 3 way fight in agains a Vexor that has warped locked me, and 2 other cruisers that have warped in to provide boosting support. Unable to kill him or the support vessles as Im set up for PvE and all my corp are in another country in bed, my passive Domix has been sitting here for 2 hours why they fly arround demaning ransom, my only hope is it wate another hour untill the server shutts down.
I play in high sec because I DONT WANT PvP because I have neither the experience or skills so why am I forced to do this!

Alright, I do understand where you are coming from not wanting to PvP when you are mission running in high security, but you do realize that EVE is known for its lawlessness so you might want to remember that next time you are missioning (maybe pull drones in when anyone warps into your mission....just a thought).

So during these past 2 hours of what I'm sure is an epic battle, have you tried, I dunno, pulling drones and not shooting the guy for 15 minutes? so the aggro times runs out?
On the other hand, I'm laughing at the two piwates who together with 2 more supporting cruisers cant kills a passive tanked dominix...You'd think in 2 hours they would ge t the message and send one of them to change ships

Edited by: Astria Tiphareth on 02/05/2009 10:31:59 You misunderstood the game rules then, and the entry, somewhere, that states that at no point are you immune to PvP.
Loot stealing causes aggression, not global criminal countdown. As such the thief becomes a legitimate target to you, not CONCORD. Don't put your drones on aggressive unless you're prepared to deal with the aggression they cause.
Also you don't understand aggro rules. If you are engaged in legal combat, you gain an aggression timer for 15 minutes (as well as a combat timer for 30 seconds preventing docking, changing system etc.). After that 15 minutes is over, you are safe again.
How did you avoid learning all of this basic information (I'm asking it as a serious question)? Was it not presented in the tutorials? I'm just looking for more reasons to slam CCP's 'improved New Player Experience' as clearly insufficient .
Edit: Sigh at all the troll posts. This really is becoming a cesspool. Can you people not contain your l33t uberness for 30 seconds and help someone? ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

Let's go through this one mistake at a time. Originally by: Sword Knight someone warps in and starts stealing my hard earned loot... so I expect concord to come on and sort this person out...
CONCORD deals with unlicensed aggression, not theft.
Quote: it is high sec after all but no instead my drones are aggroed by him and they attack,
No, it was the other way around: your drones aggroed him (because he became a valid target for you when he stole your stuff), which in turn made you a valid target for him and him alone.
Quote: now I am locked in a 3 way fight in agains a Vexor that has warped locked me, and 2 other cruisers that have warped in to provide boosting support.
Technically, since only one of them can attack you, it's a two-way fight with interlopers
Quote: I play in high sec because I DONT WANT PvP because I have neither the experience or skills so why am I forced to do this!
High-sec does in no way whatsoever make you safe from PvP. If you play EVE, you cannot escape PvP, for the simple reason that EVE is a PvP game and PvP is everywhere. If you don't want to PvP, you have two options: stay docked or stay logged out.

Look at the topic title. Look at the way he's whining in his post. Instead of asking how this situation could be avoided, what he should do etc. He's asking for CCP to directly change the game to how HE wants it to be. With that kind of baseless pride and arrogance, why would you expect anyone to respond with anything less than 'l33t uberness'? If instead he had come on and asked about his options, what he should avoid in future, then yeah, i expect most of the post in here would have been helpful.

Concord allready has been 'tweaked' and people stealing from your cans are flagged as criminals for you to engage at will.
The Situation you described has nothing todo with the Concord mechanics, but simply a Group of players having an advatage over a single player in a Multiplayer game. I don't see anything broken tbh.

This isn't how the game works. Drones don't attack someone automatically just for stealing loot from a can or wreck belonging to you (note: that doesn't mean the SALVAGE of the wreck belongs to you - it doesn't).
The Vexor stole your loot and you thought, "oh, it's just a cruiser, my drones can eat him for breakfast. this'll teach that dirty thief!" and you targeted him and told your drones to engage.
You're either a liar or a troll. Toon is a year old, so my ISK is on troll.

The real question is: how the hecks do I configure my drones so they dont attack everybody or whatever
Or how to say them, kill NPC frigates instead of NPC battlecruisers for example (this is useful for missions)
I had read you can configure them but I cant seem to find HOW

The drones didn't aggro, you did, you engaged them, he can't start an aggressive action against you with out concorde. Salvaging - not an offence, it's scrap metal. Stealing lootz - he goes blinky, doesn't mean you have to shoot, just gives you the right. Warp out and dock if the fight is no chance of your success, before you engage, or then he's got as much right to defend your aggression.
Working as intended.
High sec is not Safe space, there is none.

From reading your post, I understand you initiated PvP against him, and his friends came in to save him from your Dominix, and you were unable to finish the job? You yourself say that you shot first by the proxy of your drones. So if they changed Concord, it should have attacked you for shooting at someone in Highsec, luckily, Concord allows for you to agress someone looting things in your mission (that are not even yours, they are wrecks of the faction you were attacking). So please, go back and think about your actions, and why you attack people in smaller ships, and then complain about not being able to finish the job when his friends do their best to save him! _________________ - Rivqua - --- R.E.P.O. --- |

Only mandatory if you feel people can't learn. Personally I'd prefer to see new players stick around and learn rather than be put off by a bunch of hate-filled trolls pretending to be a community of gamers - but that's just me.
How is your 'he can't possibly ever learn, I can troll his post & insult him' attitude any better than his 'I want to whine, the game didn't do what I thought it did' attitude?
Sure, I'd like to not see whiny complaints as well, and a bit more humility on the part of all players, but sadly this doesn't seem to happen. Which is better, to try and improve that, or take it as an excuse to insult others?

While in space, click the right-pointing triangle at the top of the Drones window — it will give you a "Drone Settings" that you can select and play with. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

omg thanks a lot! (imo CCP should make it more user-friendly and intuitive)
I actually think the OP attacked first. If drones automatically initiate PVP actions then lmao.......... this would be a very common practice to get missioning Dominix and Ravens
no way! I guess the OP got "in rage" cause some small ships took "his" loot and you know the following... its like can flipping but in a larger scale.

Well I will take a look at my drone settings, but something allowed him to warp lock me before I fired on him.
What I beleave is missions should be private unless you invite some one in via "fleet", high sec playing is very different to low sec, thats why the two worlds exist.
Do they loose security status comming into a mission and stealing loot and if so how much can they steal before something tips the ballence for concord to come in?

I know a lot of good work has been put in to give people that want PvP kicks to do recelent with the addition of Mulisha and Wormholes, but realy people should beable to just do what they want to do and sometimes that means not getting botherd my other people who are out to ruin there game, I would't crash my car into someone else in realy life for a kick I would go to a dearby and do it, theres a time and place for it and a 0.9 sec mission ist it.

Usually the drones are too busy attacking the NPCs though, obviously this room was almost clear and the next best target was the vexor, or so the drones decided. Plus, if there are things that you don't like about Eve, click HERE because it will help. |

I was about to comment what the hell happened to your avatar - but it's an alt. No. This is where you are wrong, and not merely in my opinion, but going against the grain of what EVE has always stood for, in countless CCP statements.
Missions are not miniature instances. They are deadspace pockets yes, but that absolutely does not stop other people turning up in them.
High-sec is not a PvP-free zone. You are never immune to the actions of others, even whilst docked. This is why I get so annoyed when people state those that wish to play solo should find a single-player game. No matter where you are or what you do in EVE, you affect someone else, even indirectly.
Edit: CONCORD provides consequences, not safety. That is the basic expression and difference between high-sec and low-sec. Other than that and some restrictions, there's no difference between the two.
Originally by: SwordKnight Do they loose security status comming into a mission and stealing loot and if so how much can they steal before something tips the ballence for concord to come in?
No they do not. Stealing merely gains aggression. Loss of security status comes from attacking neutral players, either in low-sec or high-sec. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

Your drones aggro probably did.
Quote:

No. No. No. No instancing in EVE. Just suck it up, its only 1 mission. Next time someone warps in, retreat drones and start shooting "your" wrecks.
Quote:

No they don't. It is an intended game mechanic. If they/ the thief would had shot you first, then concord would had come in. But as it stance the loot in a wreck is yours the rest salvage can be freely taken away by others at no penalty. If they/ he steal your loot then he gets flagged and you may shoot him without penalty, only problem is, he then can shoot you too.
I really hope you just can adapt to this. Ps: do not mission near mission hubs. Good luck.

If CCP dont want to change concord how about giving a cool down a max of 15 or 30 mins so after that someone who is warped locked and HAS NOT FIRED can get out of there. Littrially 9:30 to 11:20 I was sitting there untill they got board and got a bigger ship to blow me away.

Originally by: SwordKnight Well I will take a look at my drone settings, but something allowed him to warp lock me before I fired on him.
Again: your drones attacked him because stealing from you made him a valid target to them.
Quote: What I beleave is missions should be private unless you invite some one in via "fleet", high sec playing is very different to low sec, thats why the two worlds exist.
No. Or, well, yes — you may very well believe so — but you are incorrect. High-sec is different in only one way: unprovoked aggression is punished by death mandatory ship loss. Again, EVE is a PvP game and as such you are never safe. This is by design. If you don't like that design, then you will never like EVE. This is not a "omgz ur stooped! gb2wow!" comment — it's a statement of fact. It's ok if you don't like PvP (and thus don't like EVE), but it's not ok for you to demand vast game changes just because you don't like it. If you want a game that is not EVE, go play that game — don't try to turn EVE into something it is not.
Quote: Do they loose security status comming into a mission and stealing loot and if so how much can they steal before something tips the ballence for concord to come in?
No. Again: theft is a non-issue and not something CONCORD bothers with, so there is no change in sec status. If you want to be protected against theft, you have to provide that protection for yourself because no-one else will.
Originally by: Sword Knight If CCP dont want to change concord how about giving a cool down a max of 15 or 30 mins so after that someone who is warped locked and HAS NOT FIRED can get out of there. Not needed. You already have the option of not firing at him to begin with, which gives you complete freedom to get out of there if you don't want to fight. If anything, it should be harder for people to get out of fights they've gotten themselves into so that there might be some end to silly docking games and the like. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I agree, CONCORD should be removed and just buff up the Empire Navies slightly, so you can escape/pop them.
Why punish the attackers? They're paying to play too, and besides, High-sec is too secure anyway.

Falcun Logit Probit Michelle Black C Black
I am 100% certain that I only fired on Fla****and his drones so how could "Michelle Black" bring a Brutix and engage me to finish me off when I have not fired of this player and wast in the area for the first 40 mins?
Surely there is a loop hole that needs to be closed as firing on "Falcun" in a Vexor did't consern me untill I was warped locked.
