Ok, to start with i have asked a fair few people on this and no-one can think why.. so here goes.. 
me and 2 of my friends have all started eve about 1 month ago. we all have the following :
- Astrogeology 4
- Mining 4
- We all have no implants
- None of us are in a fleet when mining
- We are all mining the same type of ore (concentrated Veldspar)
-Retrievers fitted with:
2 x Cargo holders
2 x strip miners
and nothing else!
every cycle per 1 strip miner, he is getting around 9k veldspar, where as me and my friend are only gettin 8744. What has he got thats making the difference.
The annoying thing is is that even he does not know whats different. We searched down all his skills and cant find anything different!
if any one can help it wud be grately appreciated...

The diff is because of Mining Barge Skill
The Retriever gives a 3% bonus per lvl of that skill.
So.. 8,744 = 100%
3% of that is 262
8,744 + 262 = 9,006

Dam, beaten by the previous poster, but i would agree it does look like his barge skill is 1 level higher, than yours.

8744 - around 9k, sounds very similar, what exactly is his figure?

just on a sidenote, if you're 3 guys skilling up as miners at the moment, one of you should considder taking some time off and skill for a hauler instead... much more efficient.

ok sorry for the limited information, havnt really asked anything like this before..
im getting 8744, he is gettin 9155 per cycle of 1 strip miner.

thanks for the heads up on one of us going for a hauler, but we have another friend joining soon after the trial, going to get him to train for a hauler. :)

well it looks like hes getting an additional ~5% from somewhere.
The only obvious mining skill i noticed was the mining upgrades, but as far as i can remeber this has no impact on yield.

the skill trained mining upgrades and the bonus of 5% for a mining upgrade, i would say he is using a mining upgrade on his rig and you aren't.

he isn't though, hes sitting right next to me on my laptop and i can see that he has nothing but wat i stated on his rig, it jst doesnt make sense!

Drones?
Anyone else able to model those yield numbers, I'm playing with EFT and either the math in the is wrong, has changed or I'm missing something.. because with those skills I can only get 8475 per cycle.

Are you sure you're not in a Fleet with the higher number? For the Mining Foreman skill levels are different - it doesn't seem to account for the difference seen, however.
If not in a fleet - it wouldn't surprise me if there's a bit of a bug with some 'bleed through' of that skill.
BTW - if you're not in a fleet, then you should be!

He does have a higher level of Mining Foreman than you.
Are you sure he's not in a gang even with a hauler character?
Either way, you guys should be ganged so that you can get the extra mining boost from the Mining Foreman skill.
Also, some of the skills and implants only affect the people in the squad and not the squad booster so even if two characters have the exact same skills the squad members will be mining more than the squad booster becase the squad booster doesn't always get the same boosts.

Lets check the maths
Base 540
Barge Skill = +3%/level = 1.09
astrogelo = +5%/level = 1.2
Mining = +5%/level = 1.2
So we end up with 540*1.09*1.2*1.2= 847.58 m3 = 8476 units of veld.
With a 3% implant = 8730
With a 5% implant = 8900
With MF @ 4 = 9154 <- Magic number for other toon.
With MF @ 1 = 8645
Have i missed something in the calcs?
EDIT : mining forman skill was wrong.

Are you sure he is not using a Mining Laser upgrade module instead of a cargo expander?
It give the 5% difference you are searching for.

Could also be that his friend has gone ahead and trained up an extra level of Mining and Mining Barge and is misleading his friend's in a play for world domination.
Or, at least, trying to be better than his friends.

He didn't say T2 strip miners; he said T2 mining crystals.
1. There HAS to be a reason.
2. there is no affects-only-you-two bug.
3. The reason doesn't appear to be the character's skills (assuming they are all correctly displayed).
4. If it's not the skills, it has to be either the circumstances of the mining or the equipment.
5. The only relevant circumstances would be fleet/gang bonuses (and Orca, but that isn't relevant here). There are no other circumstances that would affect two different characters in two different ways.
6. The only equipment that would have an effect: mining upgrades, mining lasers, mining crystals, implants, ship bonuses (but those are tied to skills, so no good here), drones, and possibly boosters (i've never played with these so I don't know if there is one that applies).
7. If it is true that you are not using upgrades, drones, boosters, or implants and you are using the same laser types, then what is left? Mining Crystals
8. If you check and even that is the same, then some bit of information is not correct or has not been supplied, because there would appear to be no other options. See numbers 1 and 2.
There is one other possibility: you're friend is doing something you don't know about or has equipment you don't know about. Possibly he is in a fleet with someone else.
please let me know if i missed a set of circumstances/possible influences. |
