Why I hope Ambulation is dead

I think it already has :) Ambulation might just be the worst idea ccp has had in a long time. Yes, it is worse than alchemy and faction wars combined. Whoever thought of this idea really needs a CAT scan. 1. EVE IS ABOUT INTERNET SPACESHIPS 2. Let us look at the past "features" being added. All of them failed or appeal to a small group because they do not increase the player's income beyond the infamous level 4. Let's assume that the economic model of eve is realistic and that you are paying substantial amounts for even a frigate. In that case, wheat will be CHEAP (like it is) and not a very profitable item to sell at your kiosk. Also, people might make jewelry and clothes......this will die fast. 3. Ambulation will inflate the EVE executable substantially. Imagine all the new code, hi-res textures, hi-res models, and all the new scripting! 4. Ambulation takes priorities away from fixing the existing problems of bugs. Imagine how buggy ambulation will be the first couple tries! 5. It will disintegrate into a Freelancer type station system where the player gets to watch their ship in 3d while they fit it. So how can ambulation be integrated? 1. LEVEL 4S MUST BE NERFED! Options: a. Move them to lo sec. b. Reduce the loot and salvage. c. Make the rats implement Sleeper AI. 2. Somehow make it so the items bought in ambulation will have a use besides bling.

The great thing about bling is that it's shiny. 6. Shiny is great. 7. Bling is great. 8. They are both 5 letters. Fancy that. 9. Missions and ambulation have nothing to do with eachother. That being said point 1 EVE will always be about internet spaceships, but don't mean you can't have stuff on the side. point 2 eh i dont feel like debating economics point 3 unless you're a programmer farmiliar with the EVE code, don't make assumptions point 4 they have different teams for different projects, one for content, one for bugs etc, so ambulation takes nothing from bug fixing, and of COURSE its gonna be buggy. new content in ANYTHING is ALWAYS buggy. point 5 devs have stated multiple times you'll still have your fitting screen and other quick interfaces for "get in-get out" jobs they will be migrating the sleeper AI to "standard" rats at some point in the future WTF IS WRONG WITH BLING?!?! points to his collection of heads in jars

Posted - 2009.05.27 23:08:00 - [28] op seriously understates the will power of the people, CCP is making this so that you not a picture you a charater the avatar side of the game will actually make it more engaging since i would most certianly role play with i. if you have seen the vid it is being done properly nothing like wow in space , properly designed charater with clothes that could exist and areas that look beautiful. as a imaginative person i alway think i have a crew on my ship and what it be like walking in those stations. ( i should of joined a RP like amarr or gallante because they are cool ) I WOULD love nothing more that to sit with my alliance buds in the new 0.0 station we took , and have a celebratory drink with them all watching some exotic dancers and playing poker. NOW that is a true christening to a station i believe OFFLINE[ONLINE]
