Is that against the rules to trade wow gold for eve isk? I cut down on my wow playtime and have shiploads of gold, so would it be breaking anything in the game if I try and find some one to trade with?

If you want an official answer, use the petition system to ask your question. GM's rarely visit these forums and I don't think the devs will answer you. _

You can't really "trade" wow gold for eve isk.
All you can do is to promise someone to give them wow gold in return of eve isk.
If people believe you that ... well, that is up to them. I wouldn't.

…or you can just read the Terms Of Service:
Originally by: TermsáofáService 10. You may not market, sell, advertise, promote, solicit or otherwise arrange for the exchange or transfer of items in the game or other game services unless it is for in-game sales of in-game services or items.
11. The advertisement or sale of out of game goods and services not directly related to EVE online is prohibited. The only out of game goods and services which can be advertised or sold are the following: EVE forum signature creation, website and third party voice communication server hosting or EVE Time Codes.
Selling and purchasing ISK is prohibited, and I have a feeling it's the exact same for WoW, so you'd be kicked out of both games… ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

You might've got away with trading with a friend playing both games with you, but now that this post has put you on their radar there's no telling what fury will rain down on the both of you should you commit this act of heresy.

Kind of relative to the subject, and I always meant to ask this so I will fire away:
What about trading a WoW time code (scratchcard) for an EvE one? Both are out of game items, aren't they?

Since the Eve time code now also has an Ingame Value (PLEX) It probably falls into the same rules as Isk for Gold.

No.
Both are out of game items.
The ETC only becomes an in-game item (PLEX) when you convert it as such.
I'd say the poster would be fine with such a trade provided it wasn't conducted via Eve, the Eve forums or anything in game.

Makes no sense. Both are out-of-game objects and thus fall under standard trade laws. The fact that one of the objects in that trade can be converted to in-game items makes no difference because you're never transferring those items themselves and the cards themselves aren't tied to any particular person until they're actually "consumed".
CCP might have some issues with people acting as GTC resellers though, but I can't find anything about it in the policy section.
Using the game to advertise such a trade service might be a bit iffy, but on the other hand, GTC services are explicitly allowed according to º11 quoted above.

what about me helping a friend starting up? is there a limit where ccp takes interest? having 50-60 mil is good start for a new character (+3 implants and advanced learning skills).
what if someone want to quit and gives stuff to someone else? this could easily amount to billions. any guidelines or experience with this?

Since you can't lose anything in WoW, the 'gold' is mostly worthless. The exchange rate is gonna be pretty crazy - enough for a full set of elite cow armour* is gonna get you approximately enough ISK for a Bantam.

One of those items can be owned the other cannot. you can own a game time card but ccp retains ownership of all in game items.

Since i'm bored and I think this discussion is pretty silly, i'll Play devil's advocate....
Article 10 permits the trade of ingame items for ingame items. Both WoW gold and EvE isk are ingame items, the fact they are ingame items in different games does not detract from the fact they are ingame items. While the article might be intending to talk about EvE related ingame items only, it does not state that in the article. In fact, it specifically relates to EvE products in other articles so one can assume that this was purposefully left out of this article to allow for this.
Article 11 discusses the sale of out of game goods - currency in an online game is not an out of game good, so clearly this article does not apply to the OP question.

Advocating like this will get the Devil curb-stomped and suspended from the game.

WoW currency exists outside of EVE, so it certainly applies.
If it weren't we'd be able to do this and ransom them for all their gold… so that shows how much their silly currency is worth. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

…also, they tie the TOS to the EULA, which defines "game" as EVE, so out-of-game is the equivalent of out-of-EVE anyway. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Oh, I don't disagree - its a silly discussion, as was quoting a part of the TOS in reply to the kind of question that your average bored troll would post.
I'm pretty sure anyone who plays Eve (or any online game for that matter), knows that the answer is 'no'.
