Imagine that. A big blobtastic POS slave titan ridden entrenched alliance not wanting a change that would make things harder for themselves. Quit being selfish and help make the game a better place for everyone. You know these changes are needed, and they will come eventually, so just embrace them, as your day draws near. |

Yes definately add more space - but NOT until you have sorted sov mechanics, as the powerblocs will take over all this in no time |

know what would happen? the megalliances would send people to find all the high money moons, pos spam those, set up jump bridge networks, and become even more entrenched
it would be a complete backfire, unless you took out high sec moons and complexes. in which case it will be a whole lot of completely useless space where you can sit by yourself shooting rats and run into a pos when someone pops up on scan.

This, in addition to jump bridges not functioning in the new regions of 0.0 due to distance from empire or some crap like that, would make it work and would make the game better.

Well, wormholes would provide some way into any new 0.0 space. I LOVE the capturable gates idea along the lines of outposts. |

I don't understand what makes you think that any new region added to 0.0 wouldn't be gobbled up by the already existing powerblocs. |

More space to protect for them if they "gobble it up". The more wide people spread their defences the weaker they are. ___________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Yep. Also make sure local is set to Recent Speakers mode, and jump bridges and cynofields don't work (actually all of this would be nice changes to existing 0.0 as well) |

Originally by: Dario Wall It'd be nice if they added more 0.0, low sec, and high sec all at once. More 0.0 gives the smaller alliances a place to claim without having to 'rent out' the space from their larger neighbors. More low sec would open it up and remove the chokepoints that scare more people away from it, tempting them to give it a try since pirates would be spread out more. More high sec would spread the mission runners and miners out more, easing congestion on a lot of the hub systems as well as opening up new trade routes to more markets.
Just my two cents anyways.
what's to stop the major powerblocks just taking 90% of the new regions for themselves within like a month of release?
How about the introduction of some new game mechanics to discourage mega-alliances?
I've often thought that 0.0 would be far more interesting if there was some kind of "corruption" system that made taking too much territory or having too many players in a corp/alliance non-profitable. Imagine if the largest blocs of power in nullsec were the size of a constellation or two? Instead of a few major powers, you'd have dozens of smaller powers, none of which could use sheer numbers to overwhelm their opponents. You'd have to rely on being smarter than the next guy to grab a significant chunk of territory and hold it.
Not only do I think there should be more space added (1000's of systems), but I think that space in general shouldn't have chokepoints that allow the blocking off of vast swaths of unused space by sitting at a few gates.
This is outer space, not BF2142! |

Simple: NO!
Advanced: Make the systems in EVE usefull. If one 0.0 system could support 100 players like Motsu or any other level 4 high security agent system, one would not need more systems. |

I'd love to see new 0.0 space, but with the following caveats/conditions:
Both above and below the existing galaxy, as opposed to in the same plane. I'd love to see new gates to 0.0 from deep Empire.
Less or no moon mining, but with decent alternative sources of income consistent with risk/reward. Without moon mining, large existing power blocs might be less inclined to get involved in the new space.
New 0.0 NPC space, for new or existing NPC factions. This would allow for more small and medium corps/alliances to get involved with 0.0. This could also include faction agents. Perhaps a given region could contain both CONCORD and pirate stations/agents, and they can give missions against each other.

Thinking about this more, the sov. system needs an overhaul. Instead of POS spamming, there should be some type of special tower or array, etc that claims sov. for an alliance in a system. Instead of having to manage lots of POSs that otherwise wouldn't be anchored, this would create natural attack/defend points for PvP. Perhaps 1 of these would be needed in each system per level of sov., so a sov 3 system would need 3 to maintain that.
We also need to be able to combine all the different types of POS fuel into larger units, perhaps into these: basic, cpu, power. Logistics should be about getting the stuff to where it needs to be, not managing piles of inventory with the UI.
Moon minerals should provide a ratio of minerals, with more valuable moons giving more of the high end minerals. Also, they shouldn't be static and should run out as they're mined, requiring astrogeological exploration to "replenish" what's available. Over time, the ratio can change, so what was a sucky moon today could be a great moon a few months from now.
The corruption tax should be related to distance from the capital system in jumps, increasing exponentially after a certain threshold is crossed, making it impossible for one power bloc to control large swaths of space.
The goal of all of this is to put Eve into the hands of smaller groups of players, opening up the "end game" to those numerous smaller corps/alliances that don't want to join the big alliances.
Allow infrastructure to be attacked directly, such being able to disable moon mining arrays with small groups of ships. Add some sort of module that is required to mine at non-static asteroid belts, and make it vulnerable. I'm sure they can come up with better ideas than that, but in short, make the fighting take place as the resources themselves, and give smaller groups power to attack those resources.
I love the idea of constructable stargates, especially if they can be conquered. Instead of "gate camping" as a static chokepoint, you could either try to assault existing ones, or even build new ones into your enemies territory.
Finally, give us a way to truly smuggle things in and out of places where the law (empire or player created) doesn't want us to. Get rid of local as an intel source by allowing people to not broadcast their ID on entry to a system. Improve the scanning system so that it's automatic, has audible alarms, but isn't foolproof even with maxed skills. Turn it into an active/passive sonar submarine style system, where you can choose to light up everyone nearby, but at the cost of giving yourself away completely. Allow us to warp to any point in a system directly! Give us methods to disguise our signature, so we appear to be what we're not, unless scanning by specialty equipment, or our hardware fails at the wrong time.
This whole aspect of the game has so much potential, but I'm afraid that we've been stuck in this large blob, POS spamming, smack talking game for so long that it's hard to see how much better Eve could be with some major changes.

More space is necessary, double or better three times so many systems please. But to top it, please also make traveling feeling longer so I can build a mini-outpost deep in space and people need months to find it.
Please also finally allow us to not only fix objects and also fights at given points like (stargates, moons, planets, etc.).... I want to build and fight away from these fixpoints deep in space far away from known places and space.
Thx :)

Exactly. And with Jump bridges it itsnt like Wars are going to be affected. We will still have plenty of 500v500 slugfets
... 500vs500?
I'd settle for in a 30 vs 30 in low sec, with out the crippling lag fests. When CCP can give low sec the same lag free game play that 00 enjoys then we can talk about more null sec space.. Until then screw off you null sec weenies. |

Many systems in nullsec can support about 1/3 of a ratter or 1/5 of a mining fleet. The rest of the utility in a system is POS for sov, manufacture, moon mining, etc. POS don't require pilots active in system - just open your scanner and do a 360 at maximum range near the star, and tell me the system is empty.
One ratter in a Drake can keep two systems empty of rats indefinitely.
A roaming gang will traverse 10 star systems in a few minutes and only stop when there's something interesting to stop for (neutrals in NBSI space, intel of a red fleet coming from the other direction, etc).
So if you sit in one system and see that it's empty, just wait a few minutes and you'll see people coming and going. Just because the system isn't packed to the brim with freighters and mission runners doesn't mean it's "empty" or "unutilised".
yea, let me fraps about 30 seconds of station spinning and play that looped constantly. every few hours open a new file to "switch" ships. Look at me, I'm playing eve!!!! |

Im actualy pleasantly suprised, my first intentions were to come to this thread and laugh at whatver stupid idea was put forward but after seeing the map im actualy all for it. I miss when 0.0 was less populated and it seemed a real adventure when exploring it, also i think this would create alot more smaller wars throughout 0.0 which could only be good for the game or it could just increase the amount of ppl napping eachother, either way id be willing to take that risk. |

I wonder how ccp views the current population distribution. I mean we've gone from something like 3000 to 50,000 online at a time but the number of systems has remained unchanged. Are we under or overpopulated? Could the population reach a point where they're forced to expand space on a major scale or do they just not give a damn?
Originally by: CCP Abathur Nice pic, but if we did this we would probably make you build your own stargates. Why make it easy?
Wouldn't that just restrict the new space to pre established power blocs? That would sort of defeat the point.
