So i got a shiny new raptor... also got a crow btw, which we all know is uber  but can the raptor be any good ?
ive stuck named St launcher and 2 proto gauss 125mm rails in the high slots.... its the best i could think of.... im hoping to have it as a sniper ceptor... sitting off the 10km range and taking potshots at the other guy.
What are ur thoughts on this... should i just relegate the raptor to doing the shopping in empire or is there any way of making this baby shine  Its such a good looking ship

Its fine vs standard friggies but vs other inties it lacks.
Fit it with rails and go long range and its a poor version of a crusader.
Fit it with Blasters to get the poor damage up and its a poor version of a taranis.
Fit it with missiles and its a very poor version of a crow..
Bit of a jack of all trades master of none.... desperatly needs somemore grid and an extra turret slot.

as you know nez i use my raptor as an empire shopper, and my crow for the fun world of actully shooting at things....
why would you bother trying to use the raptor anyways nezly, since i know for a fact that you can aslo fly a crusader, so use that for your long range and keep the raptor for flying around empire ;)
btw your shinny new crusader should be ready some time today (today for me... not sure if it will be today for you...)

I love my crow,and I thought about getting a raptor just for fun,although I got the feeling it will just be collecting dust in an hangar.Never drove one,but every post I saw about them is clearly disapointing and demoralizing.Just look at its stats,theres nothing ¦¦useful`` that raptor beats a crow.Pity because it looks OK,but besides a really expensive empire shopper as some people stated in this post,I dont see a why get one over any other interceptor(if you can drive a raptor you can drive a crow..).
I can use a rifter that is very fast and is x300000 times cheaper..

I ran missions in a raptor for a long time using modal neutrons and a nosferatu. 3 damage mods, shield booster2, and mid slot rechargers i think. Very powerful VS serpentis rats. I believe i switched to a micro auxiliary powercore for one of the damage mods, and fitted a small battery 2 because it lets you run your shield booster for quite a while longer on auto.
PS: since ive replaced my rator with a taranis, it is up for sale if someone cares to make me an offer through evemail.

I'd say that the raptor is probably the worst interceptor simply due to the fact that there's nothing you can do better in it than with it big bro' the crow. The malediction, stiletto and ares all have uses that make them a viable alternative over the 'tier 2' inties (mostly ew), I don't see that with the raptor.
Why buy a raptor if you can fly a crow ?

If you can fitt it for long range (150mm or 125mm named) you can hit at 10km. Fitt 2x 150mm, and 1x rocket launcher with defenders. Or just use small range rails (75mm one) and fitt the defender, but be careful with your rocket launcher to be not out of ammo.
If you use it vs other ceptors, you die ^^

÷hm I can post here my 2 cents... yesterday a guy from biomass entered my system and said.. anyone can have a raptor now for 6 mil... mhh I thought I can fly it .. lets give it a try.. so I bought it for 6 mil... I bought 2x 150mm carbide and a named launcher dampner scrambler 10mn ab.. some aux cores.. so lets try this.. new interceptor killer against some npc frigs to test my enormous dmg and range setup... after flieng 5 mins around a merlin trying to kill it .. I decided,... mhh 6 mil where cheap.. so lets put it in escrow for 9.9 mil...this morning dada sold so 6 mil was price for me.. 1 mil for equipment.. so hey hey hey 2.9 mil profit without to much trouble.. so if u get ur hans on a 6mil thing...make money with it and buy a crow

The new warp speed is nice and helps for tackling, its still slower than a crow and could use a bit of grid, but some creative fitting can yields some nice results.

Crow = 6
Anyway, other than that blasters and rockets look like an interesting combo. Damage bonus to both types, and should be able to cause trouble for a lot of ceptors with that.
People might be wondering, why rockets might be better than a third turret? Simple flexibility on range. Engage long range ships up close, web and scramble short range ships and let loose missles from 7km where blasters are ineffective.
Works well enough for a Claw anyway, and I don't get missle damage bonus.

The Raptor is an interceptor, it wasn't designed to kill but to tackle.
If you can't fly anything else than Caldari ships, it's the best interceptor available because of it's affordable price.
Unless you know people who sell Crows for 7 Mio, of course (and yes they exist  )
I still think interceptors shouldn't even have high slots because at the moment they have the best of 2 worlds: defense and offense, and this is not logical. But that's another debate

Mine is still named "Worst...inty....EVER"...
I got it wayyyy back in the day and after I flew it for a little while I threw it into my hangar in stain and decided not to use it again... I even tried to give it away but no one wanted it.
I think -that- is nuff said on the quality of the crappy raptor
