Assuming that this system scanner basically turns finding safe spots into a simple point and lick operation then personally speaking this has me worried for several reasons.
Pvp is now going to become a pure count the number of battleships game in the end. If a larger fleet arrives the all it takes is a few clicks and it's an easy gank for them, so now the small guerilla raids are gone in favour of whoever can make the biggest fleet. This is basicalyl going to screw any small corp trying to get it's first steps into the big bad 0.0 space (and NO I don't think that they should HAVE to join some alliance to operate in 0.0) as well as freelancers.
As stated before, this is going to increase the number of mid warp logouts and similar that will occur by some unfortunate pilots that get caught in a log in trap with no where to run and soon, no where to hide.
I know quite a few people who make small careers for themselves tracking down safe spots for other people/corps, for themselves etc and had turned it into an art form that others were willing to pay a reasonable price for, or they located for themselves a nice stash of battleships some kind souls had left at an ss (presumably for some minning op). In a single stroke this has wiped out an entire player generated career forcing them to become take one of the more typical careers that anyone can do (miner, fighter, hauler, whatever).
CCP seem to be wiping out any chance for people to carve out unique roles for themselves by turning them into simple operataions that any player with a single brain cell can do. Eve is fast running out of means for players to use their own actual skills, patience etc to their advantage by having the devs automate so many of these functions and persaonlly it has me very worried.

I wish they would just start by removing the avatars from local chat in 0.0 non-empire systems and also remove the Pilots in space and Pilots currently docked in non-empire 0.0 systems.
It should on the other hand be possible to scan more than several AU but then again it shouldnt be possible to warp straight to the ships on scanner.
But at least give us the option of warping in the direction of ships/cans on the scanner so it will still require some skills to track it down. Spawn of the Devil

I like the idea of it being a module or specific ship. Only allow Covert Op ships to system scan.. that would be awesome. Two birds with one stone.. it will make covert ops more useful AND it would completely destroy the safespot. People could run, but if someone has a covert ops ship they cant stay there for long. (Not saying covert ops arent useful now. but inlike interceptors, they're not a "one in every battle" kinda ship)
So yea.. i think completely doing away with safe spots is good IF it requires a small amount of work. It shouldn't be as easy as clicking on something on your scanner and warping to them. I can imagine a covert op warping in cloaked, checking it out, giving his group information and having them warp to him.. now THAT would be awesome :D ________

Agree completely with omniwar and errors posts.
Removing local and map information (at leat in 0.0 if no where else) would really help with stealth and help balance the all seeing system scan.

Or youre not safe because people who know how to find safespots are more likely to notice your safespot since they no longer have to happen upon landing 15 AU from you? I hope that is what they mean. The hardest part about stealing a ship or ganking an AFK player thats at an f11 bookmark is just stumbling close enough to even know that they are there. No one has time to go 2000 AU out in every system they ever visit to look for people
To everyone saying it will be great if you need a special skill to do this with, I say player skills should be more important than in game, egg timer skills.

No their needs to be a better way. I need to be able to sneak in kill things, run away and hide. On the same note I would also like the ability to find others hiding. Balance is the keyword here... CCP good luck

This is a stupid idea, pure and simple. Retreat is a valid part of battle, this will no longer be an option. I don't have the energy to go into any more reasons. I find myself thinking the same thing about EVE that I have thought about other MMORPG's and that is "This used to be a really cool game before they mucked it up".
Why not just make a pinball game? Use flash and we can all load it into a web browser. There are so many other aspects of game design they should be working on. If this is truly something they are going to do, it's just sad.

yay. engaging people is already is unncessary hard as it is. Combat should be encouraged as its one of the funner aspects of this game. Scanners encourage combat.
