Got the 5 free days email, thought i'd see what's changed.
So, I see we've moved out of a system in 0.0. So I use a jump clone to get to my ship there, so I can get it out from over there.
So I pack my ishtar full and reprocess everything else and sell the minerals. I try to use the station, but can't. So I try to leave, and there are like 3 or 4 guys outside of station, but I can't redock and of course, i'm bouncing around like a pinball....
Needless to say, I'm destroyed in seconds, lost all cargo and no insurance on ship..
So what do you think i'm gonna do when my 5 free days are up? :p

Umm, I expected to be able to use the station
I expected to be able to alteast try to run and not bounce around like a pinball....
If I'm denied access to a station then why the heck is my ship in that station?
And if you wanna call it whine, ragequit or anything else, that's fine.
I'm not upset, I even told one of them to thank the guys there for deciding for me on resub, heh...
Sorry, but if you guys don't see the issue here, Ah well.. maybe the guys that want the money every month will read it and say, yah, lets fix that. And maybe the next guy that's been gone awhile doesn't have to experience it...
Anyway, there's nothing to adapt to, with that, log off perhaps? I did that...indefinately, heh

you forgot the basic facts of eve.
things change.
yes you were in a station, but that station changed hands, therefore you lost docking rights, you can undock, but not dock.
you would have known this if you had bothered to spend some time refreshing yourself with the game and where you were.

Once upon a time I resubscribed on a free 10 days thing and noticed the same thing. The corporation I'd been a part of had left the Alliance that controlled the station my Raven was docked in.
So I thought about it - I was now in an NPC corp and had little to no chance of getting my Raven back unassisted - and didn't trust the new soverign rulers of the system. So I sold the Raven via contracts and bought a new one in high sec.
That Raven got destroyed in a 0.4 gatecamp that I didn't even know was possible, but at least I had my Raven in highsec for a few days :( ----------- EvE Category of my Personal Blog

You also expected to be spoon fed on your return.
It would have taken you all of 10 seconds to determine if the station was going to let you redock. Whine at the person who originally got you access to that station for not training you up on basics of 0.0 please spare us your hard done by stories while on your FREE game time.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

No, I dont think he's stupid. Its a fair point, there should at least be a popup for that situation. Last thing you want to happen when you rejoin a game after a substantial lapse is to get WTF pwned and your assets splatterd on the side of a station. Thats not going to get CCP subscribers back.
Recently returned myself after a long lapse and my how things have changed! Cost me a Raven in low sec to an even that i didnt know was possible. I nearly rage quit to that, but the pirates impressed me so I thought i'd try doing the same for a while

Yeah, everybody who lost docking rights to a station should get their stuff in that station instantly nuked. Or perhaps the op wanted to get his stuff automatically moved to a secure hisec location?

Those game mechanics have been there for more than 2 years.
You just did'nt know it, dont blame change (nothings changed), you can only blame yourself. The "unable to use station services" should've been a hint.
And c'mon, you think that its logical for a corp controlled outpost to allow hostile docking rights??? EVE history

Just another suggestion of trying to get the game to hold peoples hands (aka WoW). Its not the games fault the OP is foolish. This is 0.0 anyway, not some dumb carebears space.
I think ragequit posts aren't allowed either, so Im guessing locked in the near future.

OP - For your sake, i suggest you dont quit. Eve is great, when you know what you're doing. You didnt. So you didnt get a good experience. We've all had that back when we first go to lowsec, get popped by a pirate, and think.. 'well aint that a bunch of horse droppings'
Id suggest you play eve, give it a go, get a real feel for it again.
What happened was actually completely your fault, and could have been prevented easily. And yes - Easily. As BiggestT said, those mechanics were around when you left.
But on the flip side - Whining like this makes me want to edit this post to this last bit.
You fail.

I'm sure we can all agree, that CCP needs to change the mechanics so everyone can dock in player-owned 0.0 stations, ensuring that this horrible tragedy doesn't happen to 2-3 or even 5 returning players within the foreseeable future.
Let me add tho, that if you did not know this would happen when you undocked. You probably shouldn't have been in 0.0 a year and a half ago ;)

ask someone in local...
or more simply, if they arn't blue to you, assume you don't have docking rights.

If you're prepared to quit over the loss of a single ship, especially under the circumstances that you describe, then EvE probably isn't the game for you anyway.
Perhaps you should be looking at something with elves and fairies in it, WoW perhaps?
