The Problem Your in a corp mining event, no directors online, your hauler can not access the orca corp hanger as he has not been given rights yet!
The Solution Allow the Orca pilot to have control over his own ship and allow either corp or fleet members to access the hanger.
We are allowed to configure the maintenance bay so please give us the right to configure our own hanger's that are on a ship that we own.

I agree.
I like the idea of having multiple sections on the orca's hold, but having the access handled by the corp ceo's and directors doesn't make much sense.
It makes a lot more sense to have the orca pilot handle the access to the hold of his own ship.

Fully agree with both!
Would make some situations a lot easier as ceo and directors are not always on, and having the ability to assign people to take from the orca's hold that might not have permission already assigned by ceo/director.
Also the pilot has control of the ship, why not control of the hanger?

Why stop here with the orca, how about all corp hangars to be treated this way?

The pilot of a ship always has access to all parts of the ship. You could always jettison stuff in the corp bay for haulers. Not exactly complicated. I don't see a point in your proposed change and it could cause security problems. -----------------------------------------------------

well the only change the orca truly need is a additional high slot sowe can put in a tractor beam... as it is now you can either have 3x commande module on( mining forman link) or 3x tractor beam... when you in command mode you have to run for the jetison ore filed can and with the 89 m/s max and the other at 10km from you ... well it frustrading to say the least
so if ccp would add a high slot you could actualy give bonus and still tractor you gang member loot in
that would be nice

So as it stands just now, Orca pilots can only access tabs they have access to in station, on their own ship?
I've never flown an Orca, but that seems pretty stupid.

I agree to apply this to all "carrier" type ships. Start with orca, move to rorqual, move to carriers and then to moms. Allow a pilot to control access to the local corporate hangars.

No, the restrictions do not apply to the pilot of the Orca. The restrictions on who can access corporate hangar tabs do apply to the people in the fleet though.
If I was to take my Orca out to mine stuff with friends from another corp (eg: I'm trying to recruit some folks from NPC corps), they'd be able to put stuff into the hangar if it's configured correctly, but there's no way for me to let them take stuff out. So the folks from the NPC corp could be miners but not haulers.
The only way to have non-corp haulers is for the orca pilot to continually jettison cans - which negates one of the main advantages of the Orca over jetcan mining.

its not a problem... the pilot can access all corp hangars in his own ship.
Other pilots drop stuff on the hangar tab if they dont have access to the hangar. . |

You are missing the point... We should be able to allow fleet members the right to take from the corp hanger on the orca, what is the point of all your miners dropping into the corp hanger if your hauler pilots can't remove the ore?
Also i agrre with the other replies about carrier ships being allowed to be configured by the pilot. You pay lots of iskies for these ships and yet you are not allowed to configure it by yourself!

Wait, since when has the pilot had total access?
I distinctly remember having to get access rights in order to view the hangar sections of my orca and I STILL can't look inside the POS tab.

The pilot of the orca can see all sections of corp hanger, its just the fleet members we want to be able to give them rights to look in the corp hanger section and not have to wait for a director of our corp to come online to then give rights out. Its our ship we paid for it so give us the right to control it!

it is a problem indeed, and CCP could use similar settings to POS corp hangers on the orca to achieve this.
unfortunately the roles for other corp hangers applies to POS arrays, carriers and any office other than the base one.

Another problem I found with the corp hangars on these type of ships is that, if you have a multi-corp mining op and one corp brings the orca. The members of the other corp get to view their own corp hangar layout, they can drop stuff in it. Then suddenly the Orca pilot as the other corp members can't find the stuff anymore in any of the hangars.
So giving the organizing to the orca pilot how he puts his corp hangar to use, tabs and such accessible to other fleetmembers should solve it indeed. But then also rename it to something else then corp hangar in the first place. Call it sharable hold. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |

there is a nice little feature called "configure ship" and it lets you give access to your corp hangers to fleet members, so ccp has already taken that idea into account |

That only gives access to the Maintenance Bay.
Non-corp members can put stuff into the corp hanger even though they can't see what's in there, and that's ok. The problem is that non-corp haulers can't take stuff out, which really seems to be a huge design oversight.

This would be very nice, but it should apply to all ships that have corp hangars. In addition there should bee an option to allow alliance (and/or fleet) access to those hangars.
Another thing that would help greatly is if all players see the hangar layout of the corporation the orca pilot is in. There is nothing more annoying than people dropping to a hangar different from the hangar my corp uses for mining since you have to search around then, that also compounds with the hangar lag to become very annoying. -Xindi Kraid: Delivering acerbic wit and scathing comments with just a dash of 'stab you in the eye' |

Counter Solution Have your directors set-up a hanger division accessable by all, few corps use all 7 of the divisions so simply set one aside as a totally public section and viola you have access rights for all while in space.
On a side note, pilot has total access to all hanger divisions in space, while docked they fall under the permissions of the station they are in.

Your wrong im afraid! what about when your fleeting with a friend who is not in your corp!
THE ACTUAL SOLUTION Give the pilot the right to do whatever he wants with his own ship!

Alternately, with the new "Ore bay" being added to the Orca, make the ore bay accessible to fleet for put/take. Problem entirely disappears.

Why have a corp hangar in ships at all? Is that really needed?
Just make it a hangar with two tabs; one private, one public. The public one is always accessible by corp mates, the private one only the pilot can access (it's like it's not even there from the outside). By configuring the ship in space you can provide full access of the public bay to fleet members too.
Result: those that need access to the bay can always get it from the ship owner himself. The owner can always keep his private stuff safe. The owner can make stuff private or public by just moving it between the tabs.

The private you already have: it is called cargo hold. The public one is the one that needs adjusting, at the moment they are called corporate hangars. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |

Yeah I know that, I was just thinking that a pilot might want to be able to use all of his cargo hold privately, including the "corp hangars" (because if the public one is always public he can't use it for his own stuff safely). With my idea you can still use all of the "corp hangar" privately without anyone being able to access it.
As a matter of fact, even now you can't be certain your stuff in the corp hangar is safe, your CEO might at any time take something out of any corp hangar, or give others permission to do so.
